Love the video! That trio of the 37's and the 47 was just brilliant. So good to see these older loco's still in use on the mainline...one hopes they'll stick around for a while yet!
😂Not quite, TPE are going to be stopping using the class 68s in December, when they do stop they are going to be returned to DRS (who own them but just leased them to TPE). However a few of them (4 I think) have already been returned to DRS including 68022 & 68031 in this video! Thanks for the comment!!
Even now the 37s have a fabulous presence outshining all the new breed of power units. what better picture could you have than that 47 and 37s trio! Unbeatable. Great bit of nostalgia filming my friend....just brilliant well done.
I don't know why, but 68s on RHTT always looks like punishment duty. "If you break down on Shap, you've gotta do a month on the dirty tankers" No problem for the 37s, of course. Typical old 'uns, they'd be constantly going on about how it's a doddle compared to Welsh coals on unfitted wagons back in the sixties.
The engines grumbled that night in their shed. ''I've had my beautiful front cut open and cables stuck on it'' complained Lady Penelope. ''I have to haul trucks full of logs'' moaned 70811. ''We're express engines'' asserted Resolution and Hornet ''And they make us pull half a dozen trucks around and we haven't been washed in weeks''. The engines decided they'd have to have a disposition and speak to the dietary challenged Controller.
The TPE livery is just a vinyl, underneath is a base coat of blue I assume they will pull off the vinyl and maybe add drs logo over the base coat blue, just like they did with 68007 when it left Scotrail! Thanks for the comment.
Thank you! I was thinking the same thing when i watched part of it, for me youtube seemed to have put the video on a low quality setting automatically i think u can change it by clicking the little settings icon on the video then choosing a higher quality! Sorry for the long response, hope this helps!
They have been doing RHTT duties, (These trains are used to clean leaves off the line) the reason they are so dirty is mainly because they spray water at high speed on line to remove the leaves but a side effect of that is that the locos get coated in dirt! Thanks for the comment!!
Yes I love 37s too!! 37685 & 47813 went up from Carnforth to Carlisle earlier in the week for route proving (checking the route is clear) during Storm Babet, 37518 was doing the same in Scotland. 37685 then continued into Scotland and up to Aberdeen! This video is taken a few days after storm Babet had passed and they are hauling the 47 because they are all heading back to the depot where they are based at Carnforth! Sorry for the long response but I hope this helps! Thanks for the comment!!
Always puzzles me why RHT locos are always dirty. I get the fact the line is being sprayed & any rubbish on the line may fly up into space but yeah - why?
I think you are pretty music right as far as I can find out, I think they get dirty because the water is sprayed onto the line at high pressure and then the water gets dirt in it which then splashes back up onto the loco, that’s what I can find out / think! Thanks for the comment.
Sorry for the late reply, I think it is the spirax valve, which essentially drips away any condensation in the air system in this case I think it is coming from either 57307 or 47813! 👍

You have not added location .. unless you are local you would have no idea which station you filmed at .. pity, as you filmed a good selection of trains.
Sorry, I missed off the location, I do normally add it to the title. This video is filmed at Carlisle, I will add it to the description now, Thanks for your comment!
@@TRAlNVlDEOS Thanks for your reply. Carlisle is and always has been one of my favourite stations. Great to see so much loco activity.

I know TPE are short of drivers and units but have they reverted to the old fashioned way of carrying passengers in open wagons? (68031)

That's nice a loco with my late cat Felix's name on it!😻❤
Sorry about your loss, but it’s very fitting because Class 68s Are nicknamed cats aswell!! My cats are called Hendrix and Ginger! 💙🧡
The 68s. The biggest victims of nimbyism in 20 years 😂

DRS are definitely hauling RHTT this year in cumbria and York area

Its a Rail Head Treatment Train, It sprays the track to remove leaf debris from the line to stop trains slipping! Thanks for the comment!
Is there a competition to see who can drive the dirtiest engine?
Haha just seen another RHTT
But where are the gronks, its all about the gronks
There are none at Carlisle sadly
Not the great train of yesteryear, but nicely seen, better filmed and more economical than less modern trains.
Your right, but all the locos in the WCR convoy are 59/60 years old!
