      I'm not afraid of admitting that hearing a Class 37 engine has brought me to tears. There's nothing like the sound, it's beautiful.

    I fell in love with that sound way back in 1978. In 1998 I actually learnt them as a driver. I still love that sound now. Shame I haven't been able to drive one for over 20 years.

    I used to work them but I've not worked for twenty years ,brings tears to my eyes
    On ilkley Moor bar tat was played regularly by my driver who has sadly passed away ,but I love this growler.

    I haven’t seen a 37 in years. I used to walk across the fields from my Nanas smallholding to a bridge over the railway to Grain, and the gravel and oil trains headed by 37s would make the bridge shake. Awesome

    if i could upload a memory,,,
    late 70s/early 80s, LTS Tilbury loop, platform ticket in hand, less than 10feet from the platform edge, 37s🥰(and 47s) with loads coming round the bend from Dagenham Dock powering up for the long straight towards Purfleet assaulting my earoles and rearranging my guts, fkking glorious it was 😃

    It never ceases to amaze me how English Electric just got it so right with the Type 3... and yet EE is no more. How many 37s survive out of the original 308?

      It could be for a number of reasons - Delivery, Storage, Scrap, Change of operator etc.. 👍
