Catch the cliffhanger ending next week in Part-3! It's technology, things happen....BUT if you must know, the Kessil AP9X now sits on top of the leaderboard as top 10/20!
yeah talk about a cliff hanger. I was excited to compare the shimmer of the kessil. I'll admit I have stayed away from them in the past as the its to much for me. also I had heigh hopes for the philips I think you guys where to nice to that light. cant wait to see part III.
I must say my reef was a failure i couldn't even grow xenia now and after i found your channel 9 month ago i have a successful mixed sps lps reef because of you. I didn't successed you both did brstv did. Thank you
I have been following along with much of your series over the last 6-12 months as I purchase and build my own system. I was intending to use the AP9X with T5... Until seeing this. This single video makes me want an AP9X and XHO in tandem. Now I just need a mounting solution for both. Good thing I own a table saw, cause I can't weld. It's time to make a light hood that can hold both (I do have a 70 Gallon water box, which is the rectangle target for this AP9X)
I have three T5 hybrid Aqua life fixtures, all coral plus lights, 24 inch, 36 inch, 24 inch over a 7 ft. x 3 ft. reef tank. Its acrylic so the top opening is 6 ft. x 2 ft. I mounted 2 AP9X in the 36 inch hybrid light opening, and will eventually get a light for each of the 24 inch lights. Not sure if I will do AP9X for aesthetic appeal, or use A360x (as that is really all I will need) in each of the 24 inch lights. This setup is mounted from the ceiling using the AP9X ceiling brackets and looks great. I have the cords wrapped together in two tracks horizontally from the T5 light to the wall, then cable trays on the wall down keeping the cords hidden behind the tank.
Was very interested in the maxspect razor review. As Ryan mentioned this as a good beginner light. I started with these lights almost 10 years ago and still run them on my 150. I have the 3 puck and 2 puck ones over the tank on the legs because I have a canopy and a centre brace so the legs can stand on it. The coral success has been very good and not sure if I should change down the road to radions or something else.
The aquaticlife floating wall mount for the hybrid does have an extention kit now so you dont have to put the tank right up to the wall. Aquatic life sent me out on back in February
Hey guys, love your videos. Very interesting and helpful. A brs investigates of the ATI straton would be great, I don't know if it's available in the states, but would be interesting. Greetings from Austria, stay safe, Gregor
The XHOs have 3 different LEDs. If you tun them down to less then 10% brightness so you can really see them by looking at them each fixture has 2 different LEDs. The 50/50 has a white with a deep blue. The Actinic has the same deep blue but where the whites are on the 50/50 would be there is a slightly lighter shade of blue on the Actinic.
Thank you for doing this super informative. Can't wait for the red sea lights. For God's sake get a minwax stain pen and fix the water damage so I'm not so distracted next time hahaha.
We have quite a few T5 bulbs still available on our website. Just a few specific types/sizes that are out of stock at this very moment. But you're right, the T5 bulbs specific to our reefing needs are getting harder to find over time. www.bulkreefsupply.com/aquarium-lighting/t5-fluorescent-aquarium-lighting/bulbs.html
Only part way through this vid, but you should put the orphek or3 reefbars into comparison with the same reefbrites. The great thing with the orphek is theres multiple color options to mix and match, also cost less then the reefbrites!
You are missing a trick with the Phillips Coral Care. The missing controller is to me almost a feature. Because all aquarium controllers have 0-10V control outputs for light dimming. Coral Care gen2 has two dimmable 0-10V channels. That way you don't need a separate system. Because you likely already have a controller. I have to admit though, the Philips external controller looks super janky.
@@BRStv What a pity, they might be worth including in your great, comprehensive test and I'm interested in them because I still have a spare power unit for them and like their style :-)
@@mihaia6026 Well, it appeared pretty objective to me. Guess the number if vendors is today so high that full coverage is difficult. However, EHEIM is a big vendor with own research and good service. Getting a replacement for a defect light bar was not a problem.
Propping and selling? they are critical of both but guessing that you don’t like kessil, or reef brite? It seems like a pretty honest assessment to me. They point out short comings in both but they do show positives. I own hydras and reef breeders lumen bars. If I had a time machine, I’d dump the hydras... and get a few kessils instead. As for the LED bar I’d probably keep the ones I got. I appreciate that reef breeders show their spectrum upfront where as reef brite seems to hide it for some reason. That is unless BRS tests the reef breades but how many brands selling almost identical products does BRS they need to sell?

I’m glad to hear you guys saying the Ap9x would be perfect for a 90 gallon because that’s the size tank I’m about to put one of those on

You guys should test the Reefbreeders lumen bars, spectrum and par tests.

Can you do this with AIO AQUARIUMS please?
BRS, can you guys use the AP9X with the Reef Brite? See how Kessils new matrix and Reefbrite blend.
Kessil akine is definitely too much shimmer for me. Literally headache-inducing. With the T5s? Lovely. Just wish the bulbs were still available.

I got the AP9X for lighting a 24*48*12 frag tank. Problem is it is expensive here in Canada
Ati sunpower with a actinic Reef Brite xho for me
Could you check out the Solartronic lights?
Need to add in the new redsea reefled 160s. Make this 21 lights. You have the time to do this!
The video cuts off right as you’re talking about the shimmer of the 9x...what was it’s final score and where does it rank?
Sorry about that, we had some technical issues. The 9X got an 8.05 out of 10, which puts it at the current #1 spot with 10 more lights still to go.
Will Reef Brites grow corals on their own? Or do they just make corals look good?
Given the spectrum and par numbers that we've seen out of the ReefBrites, they'll absolutely be able to grow corals on their own :)

Can you please include the depth the par was measured at? Without the depth, included with mounting height... the numbers are meaningless...
Will you look at the EHEIM LED lights, too?
The Eheim lights will not be included in this mini series.

The ATI Power Module isn't a fixture that we've tested.
