The most common word Derek used in this video was "Thermite", which was said 43 times. This accounts for 3% of the video's script. The runner-up word was, rather unsurprisingly, the word "like", which was aid 37 times. This also accounts for 3% of the video's script.

Thermite, and a special rendition, called thermide, were found in abundance in the rubble and ash of a few buildings in New York City. Several I witnessed Firefighters recalled seeing molten metal “like a foundry”rolling down some of the I-beams in the rubble days later
4:57, the over-exposed camera sensor is epic! The sensor is just overwhelmed by the IR radiation, which the filter cannot handle! EPIC! Continued watching.. Derek saw it too.
I actually got the rare opportunity to make thermite in my chemistry 12 class. My teacher was a family friend and she made an exception for my group. We made it in her backyard in a massive clay flowerpot. I’ll never forget it 😂
that reminded me of brains like you see in some zombie movies where virus takes over and the brain kinda "restarts" and spreads out from a small point like a ripple.
When you mix fuel, metal oxide and metal powder in just the right way, it burns at two thousand degrees Celsius. Hot enough to cut through nearly any barrier known to man. Throw some C4 into the mix…and you’ve got one hell of a combination.
Derek, please... You have a 30 minute video. Don't start a boring history lesson in the first 60 seconds of the video. These are great videos, just a tip to help!save the history lesson for the back half of the video.
Your topics are so interesting, and the way you present them is so beautiful. I cannot express in words how much I enjoy your channel! Thank you for everything, Derek! Please keep up the good work!
As high school student i vonser that iron changes ots state and oxidised surrounding particle but al2o3 didn't do oxidation so why that it flow smoothly
You can make homemade thermite all you need to do is put some iron in a bucket of water let the rust collect put it through a coffee filter of some sort grind up some aluminum foil mix it together and you got thermite

yeah lol
Guess I’ll be watching RUclips this afternoon!

Just came from watching 3blue1brown video

This is really helpful for my metallurgy class.

18:21 For those of you on the “I destroyed a laptop chapter” here it is if you don’t wanna wait. 😊
@@ፔ̇̈ how'd you reach there so soon?!
I kinda skipped ahead and am coming back to watch the rest of the video! 😅
you know it’s gonna be a good day when Veritasium uploads a 35 minute video
Hello ik you are watching the video rn (probably in full screen)
What a treat, Saturday evening in Sweden and Veritasium releases a video about Thermite. I feel so lucky!
7:47 My jaw dropped....that was so beautiful 😮
2:45 That Dude's HUGE!
me putting a firework in a glass jar so i can see a contained explosion 🤓
The paths people took to get dye is insane
It's not every week that we get 2 Veritasium videos! 🕺🕺🕺
What a coincidence....😂I just discussed about thermite reaction with my friend today ....
Thats beautiful
I learned about thermite reaction through breaking bad.. Walter white was definitely a great chemistry teacher..
Just going about my YT timeline, clicked on this and Boy! Did this video intro have me hooked.
Wow, I just saw this pop up right after I saw Cody make a cast iron pan out of a thermite reaction!
The words "Nine" and "Eleven" spring to mind... 🤔
I actually got the rare opportunity to make thermite in my chemistry 12 class. My teacher was a family friend and she made an exception for my group. We made it in her backyard in a massive clay flowerpot. I’ll never forget it 😂
Thats a crazy reaction.
Perfect timing, just after Cody's cool thermite pan video.
I watched that earlier as well
15:44 "It takes two guys and a bucket." yeah, seen something similar
Never thought I'd catch a video 41 SECONDS from release.
in iran we sometimes use lead tetroxide and aluminium as fireworks, it makes a huge cloud and is so loud the ground shakes
Are we going to test thermite on steel beams next episode? 😂
Hoeschen gotta be one of the funniest surnames I've ever heard. It's the diminutiv form of Hose, which is German for pants/trousers.
Was just doing research on thermite, perfect!
8:15 maybe you could have put the gopro also behind some glass. 1700°C should be enough as the flying particles would get cooled a bit
when you said “first in a series” and the video was 35 minutes long I got very excited
It's fascinating that I can be here when someone does something that nobody has ever done before
I feel really lucky to be alive at this time in the world
that reminded me of brains like you see in some zombie movies where virus takes over and the brain kinda "restarts" and spreads out from a small point like a ripple.
Thermite is used for welding broken pieces of iron and railway lines together. Thermite sticks can also be used to ignite explosives underwater
03:30 Oxygen would swap partners 😂
I read your comment as he said it 1:1 legit
Wow Veritasium uploding 2 videos within a week while Vsauce does 1 in 2 years
18:59 u don't need fancy materials to destroy ur data 😂😂😂
he makes us smarter every time we watch a video
I’m sorry but any British people here laughing at the term “slag” 🤣

Liquified metal? You got me watching 😂
A chemical reaction series sounds fun!
I would love to see this!
2 vids one week? Damn
More!!! We want more!!!!!!!!

Veritasium has been stockpiling videos
Thank you!
Are you certain that the thermite is completely dry? The pulsing and escaping gas could also be caused by water vapor.
i think you also have had the idea to do the reaction in vacuum to theoretically stop the pulsing
Must be so much fun playing around with thermite
I just want to say its beautiful
I work for the German railway (Deutsche Bahn) and this should be shown to everyone during education!
veritasium = best element

I just finished the 3B1B video, then this came out lol :)
Great vid, loved the history
Wow the thermite reaction kind of looked like fractals expanding
This video is a masterpiece 🎉
Bro woke up and chose consistency
WoW, 3 videos in 2 weeks
What a hard work!!!
We all saw inside a thermite reaction 9/11/2001
Great video
Love your content, always finding ways to help others learn
At 9:45, he sounds exactly like the kid with no Facebook friends in that one episode of South Park 😂
Inside of a thermite reaction, tf you mean mate? Are we going to melt?
bot
Never seen better markecting for GoPro camera, thermaite can melt metals in a second but our product will survive it
just watched 3b1b latest video and now this .. what a great day.
Now I'm gonna watch Mark Rober "How Much Pee is in your Pool." 😂
MMMMHM 2 NEW VERITASIUM VIDS IN A WEEK MMM

2 videos in one week is wildd 😂😅
this is cool
im loving that you're uploading so frequently
Walter would just need to show this video to Jesse instead of trying to explain what thermite is.
glad to see this
The upload rate has been crazy lately

I swear, these bots are ruining it
