Pass the torch? What are you talking about? He's still undoubtedly the number 1 in climbing.
Just ask the gold medal winner, and they'll tell you.
He needs to make the world's first 9C/10a and live on an absolute legend for maybe the next 5 decades.

@@acasccseea4434 I'm talking about bouldering comps. He's no longer going to compete in boulder comps. He's moving on to projects that just work easier with age. Like it or not, we are all getting older by the day. When we no longer do things because of that...
If it makes you feel better, Ondra is the wielder of many torches. In the world of climbing, The Lord of Torches, one could say.

@@acasccseea4434 Just because they say he is the "number 1" in climbing, doesn't mean they mean "yeah right now he climbs better than anybody". He doesn't and he knows that. The Japanese are EXTREMELY strong climbers and sometimes 10+ years younger than him.
What they mean is that the things Adam has accomplished in his career up until this point is incredible. That's why he is the "number 1", because they measure it by what they'd have to beat in their careers to get close to him.
Adam is also getting old, he probably isn't even the best rock climber anymore in the world. Yet the legacy he will leave and what he is able to do still is incredible and deserves massive respect.
Yes, he climbed a 9c. That was 7 years ago. Times flies ya know.

You have been the greatest inspiration in the entire history of climbing (not to mention being the g.o.a.t. with the likeliness of not seeing another climber of your capacity in this century or ever again). You are just now reaching the point of the male lifespan where something amazing happens: dad strength! Just something about hitting our 30s and 40s that triggers unbelievable growth and we get stronger. You just have to watch out for the negative side of that: the dad bod. If you can manage the latter then I see you sending even harder than ever before. Downside is your risk of injury gets higher and higher every year. Can't wait to see what new sport routes you create and send next!!!

So nice climbing you made, so pleasant to see (I didn't seen others climbers yet). I understand your choice to stop worlds to prevent injuries, wise choice. Take Care bro

I'm quite new in climbing community, my last 3 months of life. I really enjoy watching you vidoes and learning new techniques and just climbing. I love your personality, you are always smiling and happy, nice to other people, you are just yourself. Thanks for this knowledge and cenveying paassion for everyone including me. You are my idol and hope you will pass the next one 9c and show everyone that you are too old but only for bouldering, not for world-class climging. For me you are the best anyway and i'm waiting for next video. One of my dreams is to meet with you, hope it will happen. You are a climbing legend :D

The qualis setting looked like bouldering and I got excited. Then saw the finals and was like, nope WC bouldering is still a joke, 3/4 problems are party tricks.
He should of course climb what inspires him but no one will care, down the road, if Adam has a couple more WC results or not, it will be what he's done on rock that he's remembered for. Hopefully he'll go do some more now.

Completely understand the decision but just chiming in to say I definitely skipped the semi's to the point you came out 🤘 we just wanted to see Ondra on the boulders!! Huge fans of the new younger generation too, but there's just something about seeing you try HARD and work your way through the boulders with pure static strength and technique, without relying so much on jumping around

Yeah the shoulder moves, splits or insane drop knees that the comps require is borderline torture sometimes. And thats not even mentioning the fingers 😂. Everyone wants to see you succeed, take it to the rock! 😊👍

You still got it man, you definitely do. Making finals alone is proof of that not to mention your performance at the Olympic games. 31 is by no means old. But, not that you would need the validation of some random commenter, you should do what fires you up and we the audience will always be lucky to share that regardless.
