Love your talking and teaching. Love painting alongside you, not always the same thing. However love your talk about trees today, took me ages to realize trees aren't topiary. You can have a hug. Love ya!
Good Day, Always a pleasure to begin the day with Mr Alan Owens. You have helped me greatly, Thank you so much for all of your teaching. I am a beginner.... working towards 'modified early advanced' status. It is a pleasure to paint, and so much more pleasurable to see my little drawings gain depth and clarification thru application of your instruction and insights. YOU are a treasure and a wonderful resource. Thank you x 100.
Alan this is a great tutorial, I would like to see more of this, taking individual elements and clarifying how they are achieved! Thank you for this, can we have more please! You are the first artist I followed on RUclips and I keep coming back to you ! Jane Vance
Super tutorial, Alan. I think this is a good mix-in with full paintings. Your taking more time to discuss the in-depth techniques help me out a lot. Thank you.
Trying to catch up with the other patrons..... this has helped me to understand the brush strokes that you make look so easy. My skies have been getting better, then I add trees which have been turning into dull blobs. I’m off to practice this!
Mr Owens instruction & teachings in 2017 remain as powerful and profound in 2020 and suspect, time forever. How fortunate we are in a time where recordings of both voice and visuals are available. I often imagine Artists like Rembrandt and those before electronics existed. To find oneself receiving instruction then from Artists of their caliber was a rare one indeed. The circles were small and the sacrifices were great. My own Skills have advanced markedly since my discovery of RUclips Tutorials and even RUclips has evolved in the past 15 years since I came across it. Its truly an incredible vehicle for learning, well, just about anything ones Mind is curious about.
Terrific tutorial. It's so enjoyable listening to your advice and watching you work. I really learned a lot, especially to try harder to be more "free" in my artistic endeavors.
Thank you Alan, you are a wonderful Teacher. I am learning so much from you. 'Be risky' is my new mantra. My Son and I, love doing your tutorials, we laugh as we learn from you because you make it fun and rewarding. I live in Australia and you techniques have helped me paint our gumtrees and bush. We are so lucky to have your guidance and truly appreciate your kind spirit. Liz
Very good tutorial Alan! I can't call myself a beginner anymore but there's ALWAYS some little thing more to learn. I, like many, am always searching for natural looking greens. I noticed you added burnt umber to warm up the usual mixture of yellow and ultramarine ( lemon yellow seems to give me a very cold green). A short tutorial on your favourite mixes for greens would be useful. Thank you again Alan.
Thank you for this video I found it very informative! This is what I personally need to make my paintings more realistic just little tricks to create a better job! Thanks
This is awesome! I have been trying to loosen up (not clenching my jaw when I paint...lol)...this is just what I needed. I loved that you explained everything as you were painting. I understand so much more after watching this...and I'll be watching it several times! Lots of great tips. Could you please tell me what brush or brushes you are using? Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic video. Would love to see more like this.....
I like to use a size eight sable brush with a nice point .I have no particular make .just hold your brush very lightly and on it,s side when painting your trees,,, also with washes as well, don't press down to heavily let your brush do the work

Alan, you paint so beautifully! I enjoy watching it very much! Thank you for your lessons.
Love your leisurely way of painting. I have been grinding teeth for too long now! You have helped me to loosen up. Thanks Alan.

notice the tree on the left has foliage clumps coming towards you ,the pine tree also has the centre darkened out for the same reason
