Hi Charles, I'm a 70 year old expat living in Thailand who plays golf 3 days a week and apart from that, I've been trying to learn to paint for 4 months now. Couldn't paint a stick man...........and then, I found your video's. I'm excited again at the simplicity you bring to everything. Thank you.

Mr Evans, Your trees (and art) are amazing/stunning and fabolous. I recently came across your channel and going over your videos.
I love it how you keep it simple and creative, and one can tell you love what you are doing, no matter if it is a pile of rock or a full big board of painting you are doing at the moment.
Your enthusiasm and passion comes through. Thank you for sharing your techniques, valuable thoughts and your own style and ways.
This kind of art what makes my heart jump! Your creativity and experience combined with your talent, what a perfect combination.
I always wanted to try painting landscapes (Do or do not, but don't try, as Yoda said, haha).
Talent is something you either have or you don't. It can be that easy ;) otherwise, it would be never ever be the same if the two of us would paint the same thing, with same movements, brunshes, paints, etc. standing next to each other in the same room. Because you have it in you, and you know how and where to place the colours cos you know what you are doing and what you would like to achieve n the paper, and I might not, but just dreaming about it.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, because I love my profession too) I work in finance/economic field but painting became my (expensive) hobby under covid in 2020. And I love it.
I've learnt a lot since, but I guess you'd have good laughs if you'd see my "art" :D :D (sometimes I laugh hard too) but I do it for fun and it makes me feel wonderful, and a strict guide or limiting my options would kill the game for me. I like to find my own ways too, and through experience and practice.
I learn a lot from your videos - thank you, I truly appreciate it! I absorb it as a sponge can absorb water. I cannot wait to finally use my A3 size cotton paper which I did not dare to use yet.
Greetings from Hungary and happy new year for 2024!
edit: I just found out about your books and ordered 2. 🥳

You have made me love watercolour painting, where once I hated it because I feared it, until I watched and listened to you on a Channel 4 programme back in the 1990’s. I bought your beautiful black paint box and the Sapphire Daley-Rowney brushes (that I still love using & in great condition) and have never looked back. Each morning I awake excited to pick up my Evans paintbox & brushes & the colours just roll of the brush but I still can not achieve the Loaves of Bread! just look nothing like! haha. Some things one tries to paint that is real, just seems unreal.
