I must say that this is one of the most well-explained howtos. It was simple, easy to understand, and most importantly, it just worked. Thank you so much.
I have gotten this to work with various flight controllers (matek 405xx, black cube) but I cannot get this working on an orange cube. Swaping in the black cube still works, but not on the orange. Identical params. Swaping cam/vtx to and from another bird proves no issues with the WS hardware. I have tried every serial port without success. I have seen it try to work but only partial characters not full osd, then eventually no overlay. Suggestions? Is this an issue with other H7 based boards?
As I only have one FC with Ardupilot, I can't help. But I'm curious if you were able to get this fixed. My current problem is following these guides and not getting any OSD. My hypothesis for me (and maybe you) is that my OSD chip may be faulty, and that's why no matter what combination of OSD, Serial protocols, and MSP options I do, I may just have a faulty FC.
Hi again Mads! Quick question running ardupilot and walksnail L goggles with avatar GT do you know what would cause my osd display show in only feet? I have it set to imperial but it wont show miles out, like 1.4 miles the screen just shows it in feet for example 8145 ft strange right?
Thanks for the video, I tried adjusting on your face display toward the edges with no success. You can only move them inward but not outward (away from your nose). I also tried changing the aspect ratio with no success. Any comment?
Hello! I'm having trouble getting my OSD to show up. I'm currently using the Walksnail GT Kit with the Heewing FX-405 VTOL Flight Controller (on Ardupilot 4.4.2). I've followed your video to the T, with the only exception being that I wired the ground wire to the battery ground pad (I doubted this would be an issue). However no matter what I try, I cannot get the OSD in the goggles. I get video just fine, but no OSD! Any help would be greatly appreciated
Ian, this works, and I've tried it as well and is very nice. My question is, is there a way to take advantage of the full screen, so the OSD is not right in the middle of the screen? Thanks!
Great video thats what i wanted to know about walksnail! Does this canvas mode type MSP osd work already also on the DJI hd system with ardupilot? Or need the hack?
My understanding is there may be an issue. INAV dev team is awaiting hardware to test Avatar/Walksnail support. INAV from v4.1 has HDzero and DJI support via MSP. Latest is v5.0. Paweł Spychalski recently released video on OSD setup for INAV 5.0. (two days ago)
I have a question that I’ve been struggling with for the last couple days. I’m working with Xilo f4 board, betaflight, matek m8q 8335, ep1 receiver, and a vista. I have a working flying drone but I can’t seem to get my osd to work. I have the gps on uart4 and receiver on uart3. In betaflight when I try to select msp on uart3 ( or any of them for the matter) it wipes all my other ports and I have to start over. Is there a setting besides msp that I need to hit for osd to transfer over? Idk how else I’m supposed to do it. Someone please help
Really like ardupilot content. Its such a powerful system and the wiki is excellent but always learn something when you cover it.

Man you are really on the ball with this stuff we need for fatsnail. This is what I've been waiting for!
Thanks.
I would never normally used the tables to edit OSD elements. Just use the OSD editor! ie "OnBoard OSD" in the left menu under config
Great simple and direct to the point. Appreciate the ardupilot/arducopter content.
Thanks.
This was really helpful for setting up my Avatar, thanks!

Thanks Ian. 👍
Does it work also with HDZero?
yes
You really helped me, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love this. Thank You. Can’t wait to swap out the DJI from my Vtol Nano Draks.
Full osd on digital is going to be sweet. Yay
I followed the great tutorial step by step, but unfortunately I have no OSD under Arduplane 4.2.2. 😩
Does anyone have any idea? 🤔
Great video thankyou, helped me sort mine out.

Will this work with PX4/QGround control? I want to use walksnail on a FreeFly Alta X :)

Hd OSD will allow this in the future. Today MSP OSD is 4:3 but hdosd will allow for full 16:9 full canvas areas.
Just updated to 4.3.3 but still there is no OSD options
Thank you , will try it tonight
Is it also same with minipix ?
What is protocol 42? I think the firmware changed so It only have 41 protocol. Thanks

good stuff!
Thanks
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
how do I get the OSD elements to show on the edge of the screen instead of all in the middle?
Good point, did you find any solution?
so thats working with also minipix but i can't read voltage info, noticed that you also cant read it, it's writing zero and blinking
So... Ardupilot/OSD/No Horizon Drift/HD Transmission, this does look promising
Fantastic, Ian! Thanks a lot for the tutorial! 😃
Try it with iNav as well if you can!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

@@AerialWaviator Yeap, I know. That's why I'm asking. 😊
Pawel asked if someone could test it in his community tab.
if it works with beta flight and adupilot then why not inav as pawel said inav is standard msp, I am thinking font issue
INAV uses different MSP data to communicate via OSD display port.
This is because it has a higher character set than Betaflight and Ardupilot.

set osd_displayport_device = MSP
set displayport_msp_serial = [#ofUart]
save
did you put this in the cli?
@@marc_frank I just tried both 3 and 4 and both didn’t work. I made sure to cycle the power on both. Still no worky
@@Wi_Yeti_Official both at the same time
Much the same for HDZero?
Yes same process.
thank you so much
