Cheers - I'm enjoying it. Every flight brings up new questions for WalkSnail. I think they are getting fed up with me as the latest bout of questions haven't been answered yet
This review of the walk snail goggles regarding changing font, and so forth is quite frankly the best review, which is easy to understand that I have seen regarding any type of goggle. Very good job.👍
Is there a way to make the font permanent, I have to go into menu and change it back to Custom and select my font every time the power is cycled on goggles ? THX
Is there any way of customising where everything should be located in the screen? I want my OSD stuff to be more in the middle of the screen instead of in the far edges.
FC connects to the WalkSNail VTX and stuff is sent to the goggles. If you don't know how to do that connection, then I don't have enough space in a RUclips comment to go through it - but there are lots of videos on it
I did tons of custom OSD fonts for Analog back in the days... Do you by any chance know what is the tool for making these HD fonts called? I've noticed these fonts are rearranged into super tall PNG stripe, 24 pixels and 36 pixels wide (one for 720p and another one for 1080p resolution, for Walksnail at least anyway).
Yes I noticed that, it reminded me of using a "sprite sheet" that you'd use in an old pixel based video game. I haven't seen any tools around for them though. I assume people are making them themselves - obviously you can do this very manually by a paint app, but I would assume these are being assembled programmatically . The only thing I can suggest as nothing obvious comes up in a search, is to drop an email to people making these now to see how they are doing it
@@CurryKitten - I basically ended up dropping them into Photoshop (have Adobe package since I was doing gfx design and animations for over 20 years continuously), made an semi-transparent mesh which I simply use as a guide (border lines for each icon). It's a sloppy way of doing it, but it works for now :) Yes, you're 100% correct - exactly as old sprite sheet, except in higher resolution now :)
@@CurryKitten I meant the new font, i cant see in my googles, I did everything exacly like you. Yes i did, do i have to enable something in Betaflight first, so that it works?
No - if you are getting the original font in the goggles for betaflight, then you've done everything you need to do. So is your custom font menu grey'd out, or you can select it but nothing comes up? Just to check, you won't be able to change font unless you have a signal coming in from your quad
Thanks. so many hints and discoveries here, I love the fact that your flying Walksnail now 😊

Yes, use Betaflight/iNav/Ardupilot to set up what you want on the OSd and where all the bits should go
@@CurryKitten but how do I get that into the Goggles? (I have the Goggles X)

Did you manage to get custom fonts for the playback inside the goggles working?
You know - i didn't test that, and when I did - no it doesn't. So that's something to look into for me
Are you on the newest firmware? It doesnt show me the new on my googles.
the word "new", should be "menu" perhaps? Did you upload the fonts to the SD card as I showed in the video along with the font_update.ini file?
