Even if I probably watched ~20 video about it by now I still watched this one. Thanks for the great video! This is what I'm going to recommend to new fatsnail pilots!
If your coming form analog and have pulled you omni antenna off to use the patch to direction find your model, you can ruin you afternoon if you take the wrong omni off....
I would strongly recommend that pilots use the RSSI trick on the radio to find a lost model. One of the top antennas on the walksnail system also transmits so I wouldn't remove antennas unless you really know what you're doing. Best of luck
I've recently purchased XI25PPro, with Avatar HD Pro v2 unit inside, from OddityRC. I did not receive that USB-A to JS connector (or whatever it's called) so I could download videos from the Avatar Air Unit (32Gb). Is there any other way of downloading videos, or am I out of luck? What is the exact name of that cable, so I can maybe search some local stores? I've tried contacting OddityRC, but there is no reply since June 16th.
It should come in the package. They are specific to the avatar unit and version you have... I'd check the Walksnail site in case they sell spares... Best of luck
Thanks a lot for the tutorial and all the info, Lee! 😃 For things like updating goggles and others, having a bench power supply is golden! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I’m completely brand new to the FPV world. Right now I have a controller and simulator learning to fly that way. I’ll be slowly purchasing parts here and there to build my own quad by next year. I’m a little confused. If I buy the HDZero Google’s will I have to buy the VRX module to get digital display? Or will just the goggles output 1080p @ 100fps. Any input works be greatly appreciated
A new comparison of walksnail goggles X and Dji O3 Integra be great. Own Dji V2 goggles which I love but fancy WS... Only if there not a poor substitute! Keep up the articles.
Watched a few video's about OSD/INAV (7.1.1) and I have updated FW on both the vtx and vrx. updated fonts added custom osd file and I still can't see the OSD telem on live view or playback.
As usual excellent and detailed videos; thank you! I just received my VRX V2 kit and integrating to my X500 Arducopter. I cannot find anywhere which is the positive terminal fot the VRX. Usually the center post is positive but i have seen applications that is reversed. Finally, have you indigrated them with Arducopter so you can setup the VTx through Arducopter Parameters and using a RCx channel turn on/off recording on the VTx?

tip if you can't get osd elements on the left of your goggles : there is an "osd position" that needed to be setup on my VRX module for OSD to work properly. Before that, the OSD elements on betaflight were not on the same position as the elements I was seeing on my fatshark HDO v1
Hi Painless! I`m considering using the Avatar walksnail system with my simple fixed wing aircraft and no flight controller. Should I have a separate battery for the VTX or could I power it from the main battery? And do I need a BEC?
This video was really helpful at the right time. I use analog on my rc car and I've maxed out what analog can do and am planning to go towards walksnail too and your other walksnail video helped me and then I saw this come out today which is really helpful. I've ordered my walksnail avatar and vrx and parts to build a cooling unit for it. I just had one question, sorry if you already answered this. So you said before you bind through the setting on the goggles/vrx there's many grayed out options including the transmit power. Once you have binded everything can you set the transmit power of avatar to max or other power outputs from the vrx unit settings or can you just turn off standby mode as you said which sets vtx to full power?
Brilliant video, as always. Is it possible, for those who happen to have both the VRx module and the goggles, to put the VRx in some sort of spectator mode with an independent screen, typically as a groundstation ?
Yeah I preordered the recons lol. Can you unlock the recon for extra channels and power ? I would also like a teardown or just a how to, on upgrading the antennas on the recon. Great video BTW not a lot of Walksnail content out there.
Can you use this camera system with something ‘old school’ like eagletree vector? It’s actually been a few years since I’ve used mine but I want to get back into the hobby and upgrade to digital… but I’ve never used inav etc and really like the vector.
You need MSP Displayport for modern HDFPV systems, and the last time I looked, Vector never supported it. Maybe someone added it to the code after Vector closed its doors? Best of luck
@@Painless360 after asking I had a think about this and don’t think it would work (unless as you say, somebody added that feature).. I gather that it’s not a case of passing the video ‘through’ a FC / OSD anymore… it’s not overlaying anything, it’s actually displaying data from the FC using its own interface? Totally new way of working for me!
ruclips.net/video/rIZW4q3vrk0/видео.html covers how it works. Modern HD FPV stuff uses MSP telemetry from the flight controller to 'create' the OSD in the goggles.. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 thanks! Obviously this is progress in ones sense and a slight step backwards in another… perhaps within the next few years we will see an OSD from one of these digital systems that equals the ‘beauty’ of what the Vector had! : )
Modern HD FPV OSDs, while being character based are full colout and allow for a huge amount of customisation. More videos on a new OSD Font tool for Walksnail coming to the channel soon!
I bought the binocular style goggles and had to send them back. My eyes just couldn't cope with them - astigmatism meant my brain was getting two separate images. So the Fatshark Recon HD box style goggles were a life saver for me - they are small but still allow me to wear glasses with them. (But big missing with the Recons is that they have no HDMI input so they will only ever be useful with Walksnail Avatar. Thats a BIG missing in my book). Other issue is the lens that comes with the Avatar cameras. Its very wide angle 2.1mm. Most people seem to be happy with this but I can't get used to it. I want straight lines to look like straight lines. I want near objects to look like they are near. Basically I want to forget that I'm looking through a camera. Too much to hope for? Anyway I've been searching for replacement lenses (2.8mm or 3.6mm or so) but have yet to find anything. The Pro camera has an unusually large sensor for an M12 camera and both Pro and V2 have IR blocked lenses. Makes it very difficult to find suitable replacement lenses. Once I've sorted out the lens problem I'll like my Walksnail Avatar kit a whole lot more !
That works but there are new goggles and options coming out all the time. Plus, once you covert your analogue fleet to HD you don't need that anymore... Happy flying
That is why my videos on Walksnail are aimed at analogue pilots. I can't see a compelling reason for a pilot to walk away from an existing HD system they have invested in. Happy flying
@@Painless360 I changed from DJI to Walksnail. Goggles arrive this friday. I mainly changed because of the size of the goggles and the vtx.
