I’ve also sown any extra I had into two nonprofit projects the Lord gave me a vision for and preparing to publish a book I’ve written with my testimony. I’ve lived humbly in order to continue working on them, But obviously you don’t get any respect for not being financially on top of things and I definitely don’t want to dishonor God for not being able to leave and inheritance for my children and grandchildren. @@thomasallie.R122 Because most RESPONSIBLE people can use credit cards without issues. If you have to cut up your cards to stay away from debt you are a CHILD and have bigger issues.
My own parents now passed were led to believe that their financial goal was to die broke on purpose, and when they both passed that is what happened. From my observation, it killed my dad, who spent his last five years on a lounging chair yelling at TV news and over eating.
I believe if you own something or even with money that you are not willing to give away, then it owns you and thus begins your problem. I do believe in abundance to have to give to others , but i also know that it's hard not to depend, even a little on that money. when times get tough, it's easy to say oh i'm ok i have some money put back. there's nothing wrong with putting money aside for a rainy day, but make sure that your trust is in God the father and not the almighty dollar. just remember no matter how much money you have it can all be gone in a blink of an eye.
So true! But some people want God to only provide in one way and aren't willing to see when they are led by him to out money aside and be wise. I think of Joseph that was sold into Egypt and his dream about 7 years of plenty and 7 years of famine. Sometimes God wants us to be wise and listen to what he is trying to show us!
I often think of how much we could do as Christians, as tithing Christians who are following biblical principles, we could do in the world to help others who are not as fortunate as us. Think about it…!!!
Some churches AND some people believe that the pastor and his family are supposed to be poor. I know that in one church, it was a control issue by a deacon who was living in sin. I grew up as a PK. This is a subject that is not taught well in churches.
I do agree with Dave in many aspects. Like some things though wealth induces arrogance in some people. The world in general needs to humble themselves in every way. I try to adhere to this principle, the world though does not want humble people. We need to be brothers and sisters of Christ.
Better to have private investors a "gain" in biz is only received when the biz is prosperous. Most biz.take 3- 5 yrs to become profitable. To say Never take a loan. Most biz need sufficient Captital.to be of sufficient size to be able to function. To say never. Is NOT practcile. A Co truck driver is paying off the lease for the Co. The Rich get richer. There are tax advantages etc How can Ramsay make such a statement. Tech a person is NOT in debt untill "preach of contract" Tech as soon as rental agreement is broken ( unpaved rent) then the tenant is in debt to the landlord. But most people that just rent think their NOT in debt. And most landlords esp in summer months in Cdn will evict the tenant. Have mailed the keys back. Tried to co- operate. But nope lost all our furniture etc. Cash renting farm land I considered was worse than owing. Either was OK if had a good crop. Bad crop had done some property improvement. Yes flipped the farm land actually made a good profit. What is Ramsay suggesting . The poor remain just working for the rich. The fancy churches often have mortgages too. And realestate mortgages for a house is ok. Yeh get equity if property goes up in value. Everything is a risk. Life has risks. But a loan for biz NOT a good idea. My brother went to medical school and is a surgeon making probably more than that anesthetist. But imagine if he or that young lady had become ill partway through their schooling, and we’re not able to finish. I think that’s why Dave says it’s not a good idea. Even if it makes sense.

Hey Tony, it’s absolutely not true that all pastors in their 80’s that way! Praise God for anyone who continues to minister far beyond what the world seems “retirement age”. The problem I was referencing is unfortunately all too common, however. Pastors who don’t have a succession plan, or don’t have the financial freedom to move on and end up ministering longer than they may be effective because of it. Keep on ministering! - Logan

One of the major problems for pastors is the cost of seminary education. Virtually all pastors who do not attend a denominational seminary take out student loans which make it very difficult for them so save because their salaries do not increase at the same rate as someone in the private sector. But pastors also are not always aware of some of the advantages they get, such as being able to divide their "salary" into salary proper and housing. Anything connected to housing is not included in their income for tax purposes. So all churches should be making it possible for pastors to buy their own homes, rather than giving them a parsonage to live in. Example: A pastor has a salary of $75,000. He takes that salary as $40,000 for his salary and $35,000 for housing. He would pay taxed only on the $40,000. Pastors need to work only with advisers who know all the tax breaks for pastors to maximize the income they do have. Even the pest control visit is deductible under housing expenses for a pastor.
I’m commenting at the start of the video so I’m not sure if the content will answer this. I’ve been deciphering whether I’m called to the professional ministry for almost eight years. It’s one day at a time; I’m in online seminary but I tell myself that I’m learning these things first and foremost for my relationship with God and deciphering His call on my life. A huge question is the amount of money that a pastor makes. I’m in a bit of debt but should have it paid off in the next year or two. My current job sucks but makes awesome money. I don’t know if I have the requisite character for pastoral ministry. Pray for me.
God can use anyone so far as you yield yourself to Him and obey His directions. Don't think less of yourself. You're called to bless your generation postively. Pray about it and follow His leading, stay pure and keep loving Him
Looking forward to hearing this. Not been the best follower but a Dave listener and fan for years. How does one approach the idea of religion to their spouse? We’re both 38. Married for 15 years. Both grew up non religious. I’m becoming curious and any time I touch on the subject she immediately scoffs at the idea. I’m not weaponizing it or beating her over the head with the Bible. I just dip my toe every once in a while in regular conversation and I meet a brick wall.
Pray and ask God to reveal more of Himself to you and pray that He opens your wife’s heart to be receptive to learning about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Start attending church. You don't need to ask her to go with you. I did this I started going and after 2 months of consistently going, one Sunday morning my husband decided to join me. He's been going ever since it's been almost 3 years. Sometimes you just have to take that step.
I think it matters more how things are for you the last 20 years of your life or if you're able to be comfortable and financially safe your last 20 years of life instead of being destitute.
9:59 For a pastor to have worked all of those years and retire completely broke is actually a bad witness. That they’ve not been diligent. That they not been disciplined. Wow! Where do you even start with the levels of depravity layered into that statement. At the absolute very least it is bearing false witness against pastors who intentionally forego the temporal and meaningless for the eternal and priceless and to share that with others. Money and wealth do not signal virtue nor does the lack of wealth signal being a bad witness. In Ramsey’s warped world view 💰💰 represents success and being broke signals failure. There are far more pastors who leave lucrative business opportunities to pursue ministry and live paycheck to paycheck than there are pastors who own mansions and jets. By Ramsey’s logic, it is the Joel Osteens of the world that are the good witnesses while it is the rural bivocational pastor living paycheck to paycheck who is the bad witness. 🙄 The reality is, being financially broke and spiritually rich at the end of your life is a far better witness than being financially rich and spiritually broke. Ramsey takes a secular world view and dresses it up with Churchianity jargon to make it seem righteous.
Truth is, those Pastors who do not plan for their future and spend it all up leave that responsibility to others then to take up the slack in the future because of their poor planning. We are all technically in the "ministry". Time for Christians to get a clue.
God makes you richer to give more away. If you have 2 cars/houses/boats or anything I promise you God wants to give away the extra unless you use them regularly for work and even then you probably don't NEED it if you have God.

Two things Dave Ramsey will never do: 1. His ego will not allow him to sit down and debate a real theologian where he can't press their mute button. 2. He will never address the ONLY time when Jesus calls anyone a Fool; a man who took the Dave Ramsey advice a fool in Luke 12:16-20.
As someone who has been in the Dave Ramsey calling queue, it is all theater. He doesn't listen to his callers to understand. He will be "nice" to one and then blast the next. It's a schtick. His advice is good for making money...but it is theologically bankrupt. Jesus says, "take up your cross...." That doesn't mean "poorness is next to Godliness," but it certainly doesn't mean "live like no one else so that in this world you can live better than everyone else." Dave has good money advice. He is selling with Jesus' name attached. Dave says: You have to transform your behavior. Negative. You have to be Born Again, and the Spirit will transform your heart (Rom. 12:2). Dave butchers that verse. Take Dave's money advice, and you may die rich. But you may hear Jesus say, "Away from me, you evildoers. I never knew you. (Mt. 7:21-23) This is the one teaching from Jesus that Dave will never interact with: Luke 12:16-21 ESV [16] And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, [17] and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ [18] And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. it is an honour and a joy to give back money… True it is not our money. We take each breath each and every time because He is giving it to us.

One of the major problems for pastors is the cost of seminary education. Virtually all pastors who do not attend a denominational seminary take out student loans which make it very difficult for them so save because their salaries do not increase at the same rate as someone in the private sector. But pastors also are not always aware of some of the advantages they get, such as being able to divide their "salary" into salary proper and housing. Anything connected to housing is not included in their income for tax purposes. So all churches should be making it possible for pastors to buy their own homes, rather than giving them a parsonage to live in. Example: A pastor has a salary of $75,000. He takes that salary as $40,000 for his salary and $35,000 for housing. He would pay taxed only on the $40,000. Pastors need to work only with advisers who know all the tax breaks for pastors to maximize the income they do have. Even the pest control visit is deductible under housing expenses for a pastor.

I’m commenting at the start of the video so I’m not sure if the content will answer this. I’ve been deciphering whether I’m called to the professional ministry for almost eight years. It’s one day at a time; I’m in online seminary but I tell myself that I’m learning these things first and foremost for my relationship with God and deciphering His call on my life. A huge question is the amount of money that a pastor makes. I’m in a bit of debt but should have it paid off in the next year or two. My current job sucks but makes awesome money. I don’t know if I have the requisite character for pastoral ministry. Pray for me.
God can use anyone so far as you yield yourself to Him and obey His directions. Don't think less of yourself. You're called to bless your generation postively. Pray about it and follow His leading, stay pure and keep loving Him

Looking forward to hearing this. Not been the best follower but a Dave listener and fan for years. How does one approach the idea of religion to their spouse? We’re both 38. Married for 15 years. Both grew up non religious. I’m becoming curious and any time I touch on the subject she immediately scoffs at the idea. I’m not weaponizing it or beating her over the head with the Bible. I just dip my toe every once in a while in regular conversation and I meet a brick wall.
Pray and ask God to reveal more of Himself to you and pray that He opens your wife’s heart to be receptive to learning about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Start attending church. You don't need to ask her to go with you. I did this I started going and after 2 months of consistently going, one Sunday morning my husband decided to join me. He's been going ever since it's been almost 3 years. Sometimes you just have to take that step.

It's a prosperity Gospel just like he's always been teaching, he's a motivational speaker.
Ultimately does it matter if you die wealthy or poor ?
I think it matters more how things are for you the last 20 years of your life or if you're able to be comfortable and financially safe your last 20 years of life instead of being destitute.

Wow! Where do you even start with the levels of depravity layered into that statement.
At the absolute very least it is bearing false witness against pastors who intentionally forego the temporal and meaningless for the eternal and priceless and to share that with others. Money and wealth do not signal virtue nor does the lack of wealth signal being a bad witness. In Ramsey’s warped world view 💰💰 represents success and being broke signals failure.
There are far more pastors who leave lucrative business opportunities to pursue ministry and live paycheck to paycheck than there are pastors who own mansions and jets. By Ramsey’s logic, it is the Joel Osteens of the world that are the good witnesses while it is the rural bivocational pastor living paycheck to paycheck who is the bad witness. 🙄
The reality is, being financially broke and spiritually rich at the end of your life is a far better witness than being financially rich and spiritually broke.
Ramsey takes a secular world view and dresses it up with Churchianity jargon to make it seem righteous.
Truth is, those Pastors who do not plan for their future and spend it all up leave that responsibility to others then to take up the slack in the future because of their poor planning. We are all technically in the "ministry". Time for Christians to get a clue.
God makes you richer to give more away. If you have 2 cars/houses/boats or anything I promise you God wants to give away the extra unless you use them regularly for work and even then you probably don't NEED it if you have God.

Our lives NOW are not what they were before Christ. We are no longer liars, thieves, fornicators etc. The fact, based on Scripture, is that none of the APOSTLES had worldly wealth. They were ALL rich in Christ, their treasures had to do with their work for Christ, their efforts, successfully, to spread the Gospel. The world and all its riches will pass away, only our work for the Lord Jesus remains. Matthew 6:19 "Lay not up for yourselves treasure upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven..." Man say we should seek earthly wealth, God says otherwise. Follow God.

Christ and his disciples had the mission of spreading the gospel. That was their priority at the time. Not financial freedom.

Do NOT listen to any financial advice from this man. He did not become successful via the methods he preaches.
You do not heed Dave Ramsey's discussions regarding the gospel. While he offers sound financial guidance, his primary focus seems to be on wealth and social standing. At best, he can be considered a lukewarm Christian.
He lacks faith in the gospel as it is traditionally understood. Instead, he subscribes to a personal interpretation of it. He has fashioned a deity that reflects his own likeness, resulting in the creation of an idol.
It is inconceivable to possess a fortune exceeding 50 million dollars while accumulating wealth without dedicating a significant portion to assist those in need.

Dave’s attitude towards money is not biblical. He routinely tells people to destroy their family over money, whether it’s charity to a family member in need, or issues in a family business. Money comes before family to Dave, and if the two are in conflict, money wins. He also is not godly in the way he communicates, with out of control anger, nastiness and bitterness as his standard tone. He grasps for money in an avaricious way, and preaches mistreating people over money. Like a dog with a bowl of food will growl and bite anyone who gets near it. That’s Dave.
Pastors should receive enough to live on comfortably. The congregation has a responsibility to take care of them. They should not get rich. If they do get rich, they should give most of it away. To the church, and to the poor. Super-rich celebrity preachers are a blight on the gospel, they are always corrupted by it, they always compromise on doctrine, they almost always fall to sin, and the fame goes to their head. And as a result they defame God’s name to the world. This is one of the greatest flaws of the American church. If your true allegiance is to God, not money, and you are an example as a teacher, you must set the example of following the word to its fullest extent, which means giving away everything you don’t need, at a minimum.

Two things Dave Ramsey will never do:
1. His ego will not allow him to sit down and debate a real theologian where he can't press their mute button.
2. He will never address the ONLY time when Jesus calls anyone a Fool; a man who took the Dave Ramsey advice a fool in Luke 12:16-20.
As someone who has been in the Dave Ramsey calling queue, it is all theater. He doesn't listen to his callers to understand. He will be "nice" to one and then blast the next. It's a schtick. His advice is good for making money...but it is theologically bankrupt. Jesus says, "take up your cross...." That doesn't mean "poorness is next to Godliness," but it certainly doesn't mean "live like no one else so that in this world you can live better than everyone else." Dave has good money advice. He is selling with Jesus' name attached.
Dave says: You have to transform your behavior. Negative. You have to be Born Again, and the Spirit will transform your heart (Rom. 12:2). Dave butchers that verse.
Take Dave's money advice, and you may die rich. But you may hear Jesus say, "Away from me, you evildoers. I never knew you. (Mt. 7:21-23)
This is the one teaching from Jesus that Dave will never interact with:
