So for one of the biggest reasons for their wardrobe is to distinguish what vampires they are. Vladislav is Dracula with his three brides, Deacon is Lost boys with the sleeping upside down, Peter is Count Orlock from Nosferatu, and Taika is Anne Rice vampires with his Victorian look and needs for romance.

As far as vampire lore tied to christian mythos, a common tale is that Caine (eldest son of Adam and Eve) was the first vampire (as a punishment for murdering his brother and lying to god). Depending on how far back you want to believe the story goes, Caine would be between 10,000 and 300,000 years old.

Movie is great. So many people don't know it, especially before they created the TV series.

If you guys are in a vampire mood, have you watched "Near Dark"? It's a different look at vampires in the modern day (well, the 80s) starring some of our favorite people from the film "Aliens". It's all about 'found family', but with vampires. Directed by an Academy Award winner (but not for this film).

Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Taika Warmth (Director of "JoJo Rabbit" & plays Hitler) and a Thor film.
They both write, produced the WWDITS Series on FX 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 HILARIOUS!!! 😂😂😂😂😂

The first time I saw this was on an airplane, I was just trying to find something to pass the time as it was a long flight. I felt so bad for the other people on the plane because I was cracking up the entire time 😂

One of the greatest movies ever. The TV series expands on it brilliantly (and has some great cameos). Each character represents a different style of vampire from all through the years. Viago = Ann Rice novels, Vlad = literal Dracula (specifically Copola movie), Deacon = Lost Boys or Near Dark, Peter = Maybe Nosferatu but I liken him to more Salem's Lot.

Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement - the best, lol, don't forget Stu, though :P
Ancient Egypt was, indeed, some of the oldest "recording" of vampires (scrolls and tablets, etc.), but the stories go back far more than 8.000 years, clearly.
Stories of humans becoming various monsters are known in every culture throughout all of known human history.
I, myself, have been declared "clinically dead" 3 times.
Guess that makes me a zombie, haha.
Pro tip: Those electric paddles hurt - even after days of being Frankensteined o_O

This isn't the funniest movie, but I will always recommend someone watch it. The concept is so fun and unique; it's a must-see.
Also, points for Man Bites Dog. I watched that on a whim a few years ago. I had never seen anything like it.

This movie really grew on me, when it first starting airing a lot on HBO, and was the first Taika Waititi movie I watched. Ended up watching the spinoff Wellington Paranormal, about the 2 cops, who end up in misadventures with other paranormal beings. It was ok, but I definitely loved the WWDITS tv show, which is about vampire roommates living in Staten Island instead of New Zealand. I couldn't even tell you who is my favourite vampire in the show, because they are all great and uniquely funny in their own ways, and the mixed chemistry between them all is greatly written.

Personally haven't watched the TV show, but I think its probably a little more 'American' than the film so sits better for non-NZers (most people tend to say they prefer the show to the movie)... NZ movies have a vibe to them that doesn't often gel completely with with others, like little bits and pieces that might go unnoticed.

    • @RalphUy
      @RalphUy 2 месяца назад

@@NZBigfoot It's a more american setting, with more of, "The Office" feel because it takes place in New York, but the characters are more european. one being a gypsy, a englishman, and an ottoman warrior. The last one is an american vampire, but definitely a very different type of vampire. It's only better, because it's longer, and gets to explore aspects of vampiric life in more detail with each episode, but the first 3 seasons were written by Jermaine Clement, who plays Vladislav in the movie.
The movie set out the blueprint for the show, which is why it is good!
