SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle (also known as SWAT3 or SWAT3:CQB) is a tactical squad-based first person shooter, developed by Sierra Northwest and published by parent Sierra Entertainment for the PC and released on November 23, 1999.
As the first first-person shooter of the Police Quest/SWAT games, SWAT3 received a new game engine with cell and portal technologies for simulating environments and weapon ballistics, as well as advanced AI for the game's NPCs. The developers spent some time with LAPD SWAT, studying tactics in order to create an accurate, realistic simulation. Most of the animations in the game were motion captured, acted out by a SWAT officer.
The player assumes the role of a Los Angeles Police Department SWAT element leader in command of a five-man entry team. During the game's single player campaign, the player is tasked with resolving crisis situations involving violent criminals and terrorists, the threat of a nuclear weapon, and preventing the disruption of a historic treaty signing. The game also features multiplayer gameplay including competitive deathmatch and team deathmatch modes in addition to paintball mode and cooperative play using the single player missions.
SWAT 3 was succeeded by SWAT 4 in April 2005, which was developed and published by Irrational Games and Sierra owner Vivendi Universal.
When I was 6 or 7 years old, didn't speak any English whatsoever. I played this game, I skipped ahead of the talking because I didn't understand it anyway. But this particular mission stands out, I opened a door myself because I wasn't using the squad like you're supposed to. And one of them priests came out. Biggest jumpscare ever and I shot him right in the forehead out of pure panic. Ah this game is amazing.
Same! Hahaha
I used to play this game back in 2002. 20 years passed unbelieavable.
😭😭😭😭
I used to play this game all the time as a kid. This game was awesome, so much ahead of its time. The game even has great multiple playthrough-value because one mission never plays out the same way.
And yet here in 2020, we have predictable games with predictable outcomes. A 1999 game has more replaybilty than 90% of modern games.
I've just started playing this and its a quick contender to be one of my favourite games. Even though I'm crap at it 😂
I actually like how the security force is a wild card in this and have a chance of not being in on the kidnapping.
This brings back memories from my youth.
I miss the team players and often wonder where they are.
I still have the printouts with all the walkthroughs.
This game ruled my middle school years!
its weird how time went so fast man i miss those days for real
Me too
Best game 😢

"Move it! Move it! Any day guys!"
"Move it! Move it! Any day guys!"
"Move it! Move it! Any day guys!"
"Move it! Move it! Any day guys!"
Damn bro the nostalgia
yeah. loved this map. mostly because of wonderful music.
8:22 WTF? How would anyone know that was a door? Sometimes people hide there, preventing mission completion.
Sometimes the door is open, but if not I can see how it can be hard to find the door.
Actually it is a common thing in Orthodox Churches.
His holiness must be saved
Remember people: This game is difficult. One shot and you are dead. Mission fail.
I played this game as a kid I was approximately 7 years old and it was difficult on my Windows XP laptop
I beat it on hard and it was quite frustrating.
How many times i killed those bishops wrongly when they jump out behind doors, i dont remember. :D
My God!❤️
i can't play the game because open minimized
Don’t understand your rationale behind the deployment of CS. Why deploy CS at random parts? You might as well not deploy at all.
You mean tossing the CS into the open rooms? All of the CS went into the places where suspects tend to be. I'd rather gas an empty room than die because I didn't. Just because there was no one there this time it doesn't mean there is no one there the next time you play that same mission.
The briefing/intro to mission: 😮😮
The actual gameplay: 🤡🤡
