Sometimes I feel like trying to decide what to paint almost takes longer than actually painting it.
Maybe you can relate. Have you ever felt like you were wasting your precious creative time just finding that one reference photo that sparks some inspiration?
I have some advice for you to consider and three action steps that will help you to streamline this process.
    Here’s my advice:
There is no perfect reference photo. Feel free to exercise your creative license. Rearrange things, change the time of day, add some shadows - whatever fulfills your creative vision.
You do not have to choose commonly painted scenes. Anything can be beautiful, interesting, and evoke emotion. If you are inspired by it, paint it.
Pay attention to what you pay attention to. No one else has quite the same sensitivities and curiosities that you do. Just being attentive to the things that capture your attention in daily life can attune you to scenes that will inspire you.
The three action steps are practical ways to hone your sensitivities, to investigate them, and to have some ideas queued up for the week ahead. Click here to watch this week’s video where I offer these helpful tips.
