Matthew...has anyone mentioned your humour??? Well, you're asking a very accomplished novice here to comment on which ONE thing trips up our painting well. Gotta say, I am having trouble with all 3 and could probably add a bit more if I were to think over more of your other tips. Love your work, it's between loose, leaning to the impressionist side and the idea of a photograph that has that special golden light around it...great atmosphere in everything you have shown on your channel! Thank you so much for sharing, gotta stop this now and get my paints, brushes and paper out...gotta work on the value study now! Cheers and thanks again...❤❤❤
one of my big problems is that i need to think of composition before I start. I like doing landscapes. I'm not great at creating an interesting composition and getting "depth" in a painting. I feel like it makes my painting boring.
Hi again. I do Value studies but my problem is converting the value studies into colour. I do not always get it right so my paintings can sometimes look flat.
I am subscribed and confirmed but have not received a link to the video re overworking your paintings. I would really like to see that as I get a lot out of your RUclips lessons. Thank you for doing these.
@@learntopaintwatercolor Thanks. I will do that. It took me a while to find out you had replied as I forgot where I had posted this🤣 since I watch a lot of your videos!
Matt, I appreciate your site and tips. BUT, the music behind the tips is too LOUD and distracting. Please become aware of this. You can be so helpful.......

I agree wholeheartedly 👍 Nowadays, I work on a thorough plan before I pick up a brush, especially for my commissions.

The planning stage is what I’m now concentrating on! Values are my downfall!
Values are challenging and something that most artist continue to work on but it will lead to the most growth. You’ll get there!

Strange as it may sound, I think brush size is probably my biggest issue, at least from the technical perspective. Probably laziness.
I love learning from you ! Do you have a Patreon page?
