I love seeing the younger guys carrying old 30-30's, it makes you a better hunter rather then just a good shooter out there at several hundred yards. With all of today's wazoo calibers and technology it is sometimes hard to go back in time to the lever guns and iron sights, but when it all comes together and you can take a buck like that with the 30-30 it's a much more rewarding and humbling feeling over tipping one over at 600 yards. Keep at it Trapper, much respect to you. Thanks for the clean family oriented content! God bless

We really appreciate your comments. You are right about it making a better hunter out of you, I asked Trapper when he first started hunting with the 30-30, What if you see a giant buck at 200 yards across the draw? He simply said, well I'll have to get closer. He's done well, he just recently shot his third buck with it and a couple years ago he killed a bull with it.

Awesome hunt with the family. The younger generation got some beauty bucks. The old man didn’t let up and kept at it and was rewarded for his efforts. Congratulations on another successful whitetail camp.

This is my favorite time of the year, wall tents, camp fires and family. The deer we hang on the meat pole are just a bonus. Appreciate your comment, thanks

Yes I agree. As much as I like packing in elk camp, nothing beats whitetail camp especially when you can drive the truck right in.

That first buck with the split brow tine was a toad that second was a toad u guys are awesome and fun to watch, excellent hunters and family times. What caliber of rifles do u guys use seem to knock them bucks and bulls real good.

Thanks, appreciate your comments. We use a variety of calibers, 6.5 creedmore, 7mm-08, 270 win, 30-30. Shot placement is key.

@@406highlanders oh for sure I like how ur son trapper smokes them critters with that ole 30-30 dies a fine job, ur videos remind me if home I used to live in western Washington but I moved to Missouri a few years ago there is lots of white tails here but no elk and no mountains like back home maybe someday I’ll hunt that bob Marshall. Wyoming looks good too maybe move there soon. Can’t wait to see this year’s animals

I got a kick out of your optimism even tho you said you weren't too optimistic, we've all been there!😂
I came access your channel last year while looking at model 94 30-30 vids.
You've got a great thing going there, they boys and their families, everyone enjoying each other's company. That's how God intended life to be.
I am in central PA and I have an Aunt& Uncle in Big Timber. Im curious how far you are from them.
Keep the videos coming. The camp hunting and especially the hound videos. My #1 dream hunt is to kill a lion or bear over hounds with my flintlock.

Hey thanks for the comment, I just subscribed to your channel. I’ll have to check it out when I get a little time. Just got back home from a long elk hunt last night so I got a lot of things to get done now. Big Timber is about four hours away, I have friends there and have hunted antelope on their place before.

    • @406highlanders

Actually the boots I was wearing in this video are Schnee's boots out of Bozeman MT. I have two pair, one pair is for extream cold weather. I like them but I only get a couple seasons out of them and I have to send them back in to get rebottomed but I do use them all winter and spring for work so they do take some abuse @@bkauffman0390
