  • Hunting public land bulls is not as easy as it looks in the movies, as you will see on Kelly and Ryan's 2022 hunt. We will grind it out looking for big bulls and it won't always go as planned but we always have a good time.

    Came across your channel and have watched a lot of your vids....you have a great balance of funny commentary, action, solid elk footage and just overall great story line. You guys have been on a roll from '2019-2022....well done! I was wondering what editing software are you using? Looking forward to what '23 brings for you.

      Thanks, we appreciate your comment. We use Premiere Elements editing software, it's a buy once instead of a monthly, which I liked. It has worked well for the most part but have had a few issues with it.

    I used to carry a Shockwave 12g hunting too.. things a beast to carry but it does make you feel somewhat safe in bear country. Downsized to a S&W 40 and feel like I can fly haha

      Yeah the 12 gauge is heavy but worth the wait penalty when your walking down the trail in the dark with grizzly tracks all over or when your coming back to retrieve meat. I guess it’s what makes you feel most comfortable, I’m just not that confident in my pistol shooting abilities.

    Congratulations Gentlemen!!
    Every year I wait for you two to put out your video. Its never disappointing.
    I only have one question; In conditions such as your hunt(two shooters) , why pass on bulls on the first few days, that you are willing to take on the last day ? This IS NOT a slam on you two, I just enjoy hearing from all hunters on this question. My freezer has been stuffed with a spike more than once.

    • @406highlanders
      @406highlanders  Год назад +2

      Great question, I could go on about this for days but I'll try and keep it short. We have a fair amount of time to hunt so we like to pursue mature bulls. Saying that I don't want to sound like younger bulls are not worthy, in fact some of my best trophies are young five point bulls, just because of how the hunt went down. I guess it's very situational, how much time do we have available to hunt, how empty our the freezers (we raise our own beef as well), and what gets us exited at the time. I can guarantee you if Ryan would have shot that bull in the first few days he wouldn't have been near as happy (for lack of a better word). Thanks for you comment, we appreciate it!!!
      Also, my wife asks me the same question. lol

      Just wondering, would you fast forward through a football game just to watch game winning touchdown, how about fast forwarding through a movie to see how the ending turns out, probably not. There’s more to hunting than just killing, there’s always a story behind the hunt. Have you never sat around the campfire telling your buddies how your days hunting went?
