Ledekas face after winning the downhill is priceless. A look of disbelief.
jeremy raucci in an interview, she said she thought “1st” on the scoreboard was an error, and was just waiting for it to be corrected.
*Ledecká's, her name is Ledecká my friend 😌
People forget that Bradbury only qualified for the semifinals because Gagnon was DQ’d for obstruction on the final turn in the QF’s. In the semi-finals 3 of the 5 competitors went down on the final turn and he finished 2nd. Then the same thing happened in the finals. What a legend!
He is the son of God!!
The Comeback King :D
Not to mention he broke his neck in 2000, was told by doctors that he would never be able to race again, but not only returned but qualified for 2002, where the rest is history
He "got the job done"...that is all that matters at the end of the day
You have to cross the line first to win first
Steven Bradbury has had a massive cultural impact in Australia. "Doing a Bradbury" is a saying. At my weekly trivia team there is a team called "the Bradburys". It's just become a thing.
Sally Parker so is that winning by sheer luck?
wakawaka1976 it’s like when you win after being down and out (like if we’re doing 1on1 basketball and it’s first to 20, and the score is 18-10 to you and i win, it’s doing a Bradbury)
That’s pretty cool. I love Australian culture ... cool people.
basically pulling a homer
@@wakawaka1976 to finish first first you have to finish.
Old saying in formula one but true for so many sports. If you don’t finish you don’t win.
Bradbury's wasn't him coming back. It was everyone else going back.
He came back from an injury and this was his second medal. So it was a comeback
@@Urumi89 This is the comeback within the race, as are all the others listed.
Apollo Ono won that race. He was ahead and did not crash but was illegally taken out by South Korea. At least he got the silver.
Joel Willems yeah but he said he was fine with his silver and said he would not contest it and did not.
@@joelwillems4081 u americans are so salty
Steven Bradbury will always be the greatest comeback of all time 😂
Bradbury was the ultimate tortoise to the hares of the rest of the field.
@@ericvansickle4305 He won a medal in 1998 and got injured afterwards. I'd not call him a tortoise.
I saw it live on TV
Alessia Eletta Coppi he won because he wasn’t fast enough to get caught in the tangle up. It’s not that he deftly maneuvered his way to the lead. He was literally last and got lucky. It wasn’t a game plan.
wakawaka1976
It was his game plan lmao. He said in the interview that he knew he wasn’t fast enough. He has 8 months of training while the others got 4 years. So his plan is to stay low and hope for them to mess up.
Trust a 17 year old to oversleep and forget their jacket on the day of their Olympic final.
My boy Red Gerard ❤️❤️
He didn’t deserve gold either. Terribly biased sport towards Americans
@@eamonquilty7840 face it bro, america is just better
They're talking about Olympic jackets earned for being on top in the Rounds.
@@eamonquilty7840 Olympics judge have been proven to be rigged for American and Russian mostly with sync swimming, ice skating, and that event
Dude, speed skating is SCARY
Pickle Pants93 maybe for some, but for those that truly love it it’s the exact opposite
not if you are slow enough to get dropped out of the pack
I do inline speed skating (ice skating on the road) and I just loved it. Then one day I fall over someone else, and I didn't skate again for 6 weeks, because it was summer break (or however English people call it). When I got back to skating, I just didn't have the courage to get back into the pack, and also didn't dare to go on my full speed, because I was afraid. But then, after another break, somehow I got back into it and I still do it to this day.
i hate 6 man 500m's lol the starts are scary
@@flomol i have two people in my class who do inline speed skating and god how many times they hurt their knees
As an Aussie there is no greater comeback than old Stevo.
More of a come up then a comeback. All you need is a bit of luck sometimes. Great win.
Would be nice when talking the Miracle on Ice if you showed the actual game that title referred to, the US-USSR match not the gold medal game against Finland.
Of course Steven Bradbury was going to be on the cards 😂
And Australia's first ever Winter Olympic Gold
Lima Bean First ever winter gold. Australia finished bronze in the 5,000m short track relay in Lillehammer ‘94. Bradbury the legend was part of that team.
Well Alissa Camplian the freestyle moguls skier got a gold in the same Olympics ( she beat two Canadians )
@@faiththomas1749 Alissa Camplian won her gold a couple of days after Bradbury (becoming the second ever gold medal for Australia), and it was in the freestyle aerials (traditionally Australia's strongest Winter Olympic sport) NOT the moguls.
Would like to suggest Aljona Savchenko as well. Kept winning bronze 2 or 3 times in pairs figure skating, then her partner retired but she wanted that gold. Found herself a new partner, everyone said she was crazy, she should just let it be and it would never work but she did it anyway. Her and Bruno Massot skated the short program and fell behind because he made a huge mistake. Then skated the free skate absolutely flawlessly and got that gold finally! I love this story so much!
Ledecka man. I remember watching that live. I became an instant fan. So of course when it was time to watch her snowboard, I tuned in to watch her take gold there too.
Her reaction was priceless.
American here. Steven Bradbury deserved that gold medal!
Not his fault those other guys fucked up.
It also termed a new saying here in Oz..."doin a Bradbury" 🇦🇺 lol legend
One of my favorite things about the U.S. and Canada women's hockey teams is that they keep marrying each other 😂❤
Ledecka winning that medal might've been my favorite moment of that whole Winter Games.
In 1980 there was no semi-final USA-USSR.... it was a final group stage with 4 teams between USA, USSR, Finland and Sweden..... images shown here are of the match USA-Finland it seems
The semi-final was against USSR. The gold medal match was vs Finland, which is mostly what they showed.
@@michaeld6147 No....this was "pool" play....not a direct elimination.
Scanned down specifically to see if anyone else noticed the footage was from the USA-Finland match.
@@samsignorelli Never said it was direct elimination. The 2 losers of the semi's go on to play in the bronze medal game. U.S. went on to play Finland in the gold medal game.
@@michaeld6147 No...but far too many think it was DE, and that beating the Soviets guaranteed gold.
Steven Bradbury wasn't a fluke. It was years of experience, training, and heartbreak. He knew those guys could get aggressive with each other near the end. He kept his cool, held back and glided beautifully past the carnage and over the finish line.
the Canada vs. USA women's olympic hockey game, shown here, is one of the finest games I've ever watched, point finale! both teams played with such passion...it was a pleasure to watch such a fantastic game where every single player on both teams were "in it to win it" 100%. My Dad and I were literally jumping up and down in front of the TV losing our collective Canadian minds watching that! It was just incredible.
4:48 shows Finland vs USA, good job Olympic Channel 😂
I love how the cross-country skiiers' version of the kiss and cry is a dog pile. 😂
I have immense admiration for Stephen Bradbury, because he skated the best race he could and just look what happened; just too easy to forget that sports are games where the unlikeliest things are possible so you just don’t give up. Also interesting that he well-and-truly paid his “dues” to the sport, recovering from a massive skate cut in the years leading up - PLUS he actually hand-made skates for a number of his rivals, because he just made the best skates.
Me:*watches this video*
*I'm gonna go snow boarding*
*_just realised I lost my legs_*
really?
Nooo hahaha I thought you gonna say "here doesn't snow"
@@antonellagamioflorentini383 but I doesn't tho
Ledeckas reaction! Top
Luka Pamić according to Ledecka, she thought the scoreboard showing her in first place was an error and kept waiting for it to be corrected.
Don't we just love how they don't give up xd
Kallas finish is one of the most classic moments in swedish sports history
To do full justice to Kalla's relay achievement, they should have noted the Finnish skier wasn't out on a Sunday cruise, and Kalla still closed a gap of 25 seconds all on her own.
About the USA relay win, not sure all viewers realise how dominated the cross country skiing world is by European countries, and especially Norway.
**HERMAN MAIER** IS MISSING. The most impressive comeback of all time I guess. Survived a terrible accident at nagano and won his first 2 gold medals the next days.
Got another heavy traffic accident and came back to nr1 of the world.. 3x comeback.
4:55 “DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?!”
Right, Al Michaels famous question during the (checks video) US-Finland game???? Wut?
I think the final stretch of cross country skiing is the most epic. Sure, on the final stretch of every sport every athlete gives it 200%, but I feel like that is most visible in skiing, as the throw everything in their arms in massive downward shoves to give it everything they've got.
I've been watching this moment, when USA win gold in cross-country. I was really shocked.
EDIT: I've been watching Charlotte Kalla winning gold too
I do love Stephen Bradbury's gold medal, but I can't help but feel bad for Ohno. Pulled down by the falling skater is a terrible way to lose a gold medal.
Ohno was the one who told Bradbury to take the gold medal. "That's just speed skating" he said. The Korean skater definitely pulled a dirty tactic, though. Bradbury's victory was deserved. He employed the correct strategy for himself.
@@Moda-pf8wt - It wasn't the Korean. China got off balance first and tipped his skate.
German men's ice hockey team in 2018. From 2nd last in their group to silver medal.
Sure but like we all know that 2018 Olympic Hockey didnt mean anything
@@ivanbelanger2479 98 olympic hockey ment everything
ブラッドバリーのゴールマジで好き
2:36 WOW!! look at the action!!
The American commentator had a much more exciting call for Diggins' gold. It was a huge moment for US skiing!
Definition of gliding under the radar!
People seem to forget there was a fall in the Semi-final as well that gave Steven Bradbury a spot in the final.....
That last one - im Aussie and ill never forget seeing that one live!
As an American The Miracle on Ice is #1 . But the gold in Cross Country skiing was pretty epic as well
When it comes to politics sometimes I despise my country for all the messed up things they have done but when it comes to the Olympics I'm as patriotic as anyone🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Steven Bradbury is the greatest Australian Olympian of all time period.
Mao’s Sochi free skate should’ve been on here
People forget that Bradbury only qualified for the semifinals because Gagnon was DQ’d for obstruction on the final turn in the QF’s. In the semi-finals 3 of the 5 competitors went down on the final turn and he finished 2nd. Then the same thing happened in the finals. What a legend!
Mao Asada deserves to be in this video
Kalla was without a doubt the greatest comeback.
Bradbury is the best one also considering that he has already won in 1998 and had a horrible injury. I'm still waiting for a movie on his life.
How did south korea's women's short track relay team in the semi finals at pyeonchang not make it? They fell over during the race only to finish first in that very same race and set an olympic record
The women’s hockey final was great.
Got all the Aussies here with Bradbury
Whoever see this I wish you a merry christmas!🎄❤️😊
Wait! What about Dan Janssen winning gold in speed skating He had gone through so much falls and fails in Olympics, until he won the gold in 1994.
kinda shook at the hockey when it said “sudden-death” lol
Imagine when Bradbury has to show his kids the video of his gold medal race 😂
John Shuster and his team winning the gold was a comeback 10+ years in the making.
How is it not on this list?
Steven Bradbury - the Hero!!
I’m assuming they didn’t have the rights to show the Miracle on Ice but did they really think we wouldn’t notice if they just threw in footage of another game? I guess it doesn’t matter lol
If Steven Bradbury wasn’t on this list, there would have been riots! And the same goes for the Miracle on Ice
The hockey game was against Finland, not USSR
You forgot the Herminator 😳
yuzuru hanyu should be on here. pyeongchang olympic comeback was one of the best things i've ever seen
Anyone else skip over the USA-Canada Women's Hockey, since it still smarts all these years later.
🇦🇺 Steven Bradbury 🇦🇺
I still prefer the BBC coverage and commentary
Sorry 😔
I'm sorry if I offended you...
He won in very similar fashion in Holey Moley Australia.
Go Red Gerard ❤️❤️
How about Venuste Niyongabo winning a gold for Burundi in 1996?
here only for steven bradbury!
The USA vs USSR hockey match was in the semi-final, but you used video from the USA vs Finland match from the finals.
Steven Bradbury is the best gold medal 🏅
At the last ice hockey clip the title stated that it is a USA vs USSR, but it was USA vs Finland.
Every Diggins replay has this boring call, really unbelievable!
Viacheslav Vedenin in cross-country ski relay in Sapporo
Never give up
Steven Bradbury. 20years since 🏅
The last one wasn’t a comeback.... he was just lucky.. he was destined to win!
I think competing again after nearly dying from a fractured neck suffered in a race definitely counts as a comeback.
1:13 "we're here to get Gerarded"
It is always my dream to watch olampic live,I hope I will do this. like if you are olampic dreamer like me
We love Olampics!
@@Olympics Do I detect some sarcasm?
@@Olympics lmao 😂😂
How could you leave out Dan Jansen?
The Aussie winning gold is the best....
biggest comeback was petra majdič getting bronze medal in 2010 with a broken rib after fall
i think it's illegal to not mention the miracle on ice. good thing they got tossed in at the end so no one would get in trouble.
What about in the downhill skiing when the 3 people in 1st 2nd and 3rd crashed having the person in 4th win and a 3 way photo finish
Mixing Finland as USSR is way worse as mixing up Usa as Chile
Never say never
He or she is comeback from injury to recovery Olympics!
don't lie. if you knew about Steven bradburys win before, you came for it.
Can you imagine being on the highest stage representing your country and you overslept. Sums up Americans lol
Not Virtue and Moir? Hm
was Ledecka really a comeback?
1:25 anyone notice the typo?
?
fair play to Kalla but that was excruciating to watch. serious 6-5 flashbacks
STRAYA
How is the Jessie Diggins/Kikkan Randall gold a 'comeback'??? They were in PERFECT position the whole race! You're just twisting the definition of what a comeback is so you can focus even more on US athletes 👎
I wish it was the "here comes diggins " guy
Wrong Diggins call... show the real one
Are you drunk??? How is the sprint "comeback" among the best ever...it was not even a comeback.
How 'bout Shaun White's last run comeback at 2018 winter olympics??🤔🙄
I love a good comeback
I hope the Japanese don't play that music during the upcoming Olympics.
You cannot watch this with a VPN
For a comeback to happen, you first need to fall behind. these were just some unlucky winners.
