I don’t think the commentators accentuated the pressure enough. It was his last run unlike those of previous Olympics. He had to do something he had never done before. He had to overcome the 60+ stitch fear. And Hirano Ayumu just had brought his A game. It was all or nothing. And he nailed it. He devoured pressure.

    • @Ami-kg2jn

Agreed! Very few can perform that well under pressure and he definitely rose to the occasion. Simply amazing!

Shawn white lives for those moments understand pressure, he snowboards to win and is not in the true spirit of snowboarding. He had no style and boot grabbed, Ben Ferguson’s run was WAY sicker! So much style and that air to fakie is a lot harder than it seems, let alone the magnificent swich mctwist!

Shaun White *only* does comp and that's all he's done in snowboarding for the past few years, I would hope he could handle pressure.

Even Hirano knew Shaun had taken the gold by the end of the run. This was an absolute legendary performance, his best really, and that's including his perfect scores from the xgames. Sure he grabbed his toe strap, but to nail a trick that took him out 6 months ago, doing it regular and switch, and pulling off two of his signature tricks...I can't even this is one of the best performances in all of sports history.
Hats off to Hirano for pushing Shawn to go above his limit. Next winter Olympics, the gold will be Hirano's

      Hirano was robbed dude
But snowboarding is a white American sport so they have to win. Not mad about that.
I,ve never considered sports that involves judges to be real sports as it leads to corruption or biased judges as they are human too.
Whether it,s gymnastics, snowboarding, diving etc. Sports that involve judges dont seem like real sports to me and I don't watch them often.
I prefer sports where you win on merit without a judge or with little use of a judge like swimming, archery, badminton etc.

I'd love for the commentators to be actual fellow snowboarders who are part of the culture. I'm not a snowboarder, but I love listening to the lingo and the insights are always interesting.

What a beacon, OMG, what a one-of-a-kind genius. Outstanding in every way, and then some. Talent of this magnitude expands our poor understanding of the human enterprise. Thank you, Shaun!
