"The Skye Boat Song" is a late 19th-century Scottish song recalling the journey of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) from Benbecula to the Isle of Skye as he evaded capture by government troops after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746."

This version was recorded by Alastair McDonald who did an entire album on the Jacobite Wars called Bonnie Prince Charlie. Huge recommend.

Go to Culloden, it will take your breath away. I've always connected the song My Bonnie lies over the Ocean to Bonnie Prince Charlie, didn't know it wasn't common knowledge.
My favourite song. No doubt. Probably more officially known as "The Skye Boat Song" Alastair's rendition is still iconic despite the name change. thanks for uploading.
