Hi Dr., I was diagnosed with Bipolar after being hospitalized when I was 20, so 9 years ago. I'm so glad I found this video because I had a lot of doubt about whether I could lead a functional life. I've learned I can by practicing mindfulness and your other various coping strategies. Well before, I felt just functional enough to go to work and "get by". I'm a triplet and we've all eventually been hospitalized for mania and then "conking out" as you put it. I found you first through another issue I had surrounding my self medication of choice which I've been sober from now for 90+ days. My brothers both use medications but still have problems with work or school! I don't use medications and I'm the only one who can keep a full time job, and I was able to be calm enough to buy a condo. I probably would've felt so much anxiety around it if I hadn't been meditating during the months before the purchase. I plan to continue using your tools through the rest of my life adventures as a way to cope with my mental illness, thanks.

Great video, the kind of content we need out here. I suffer with bipolar and after trying out different types of medication with horrible results finding neurofeedback changed my life. I have been symptom free for almost two years and now I’m going back to refresh, I have so much faith in this treatment because it absolutely allows me to live like a normal person and completely erases mood swings and irrational anxiety. It also helped my mom get rid of her migranes. Thank you for putting out this great information! I hope more people get to know this amazing treatment

Update: I still have symptoms and episodes, it’s not a forever solution. As time goes by my brain went to its original baseline configuration which is bipolar chemical imbalance. But it definitely helps a lot. I moved so I have to find a new provider in my area and it’s proving to be hard since my initial experience left me with high expectations

    Hi, bipolar here.
I have a Neurosky device yet, but I don't even know how to use it. Its name is "Brainlink".
I imagine (maybe I'm wrong) that what happens with Muse you have to begin (or continue) meditating.
I am a Christian Catholic and I believe these devices can help in these cases, maybe meditating a good Rosary.
How should I use my Brainlink?
Would you advise me any app, please?

This is great. How does it effect those (me with BP1) with mixed episodes?

I haven't found any papers which suggest that neurofeedback can heal/arrest bipolar. People have recommended it to me a few times. I need to do more for my challenges. Some papers suggest that it's a good stabilizing treatment and supplemental treatment, but I haven't heard anyone say that bipolar can be cured. It can be modulated, treated to remission or the symptoms can be alleviated and better regulated.

It can be very helpful. Try the headband to start off. You can purchase it from Muse with a 15% discount with the link below. You will enjoy it and it will help.
You can add coaching with me if you are inspired. ;)
      Information on both is below.

I did get the Muse headband and am using it everyday. I got the brain training 101 course and plan to get the Control Your Brain course soon. I'm going through the first PBR course now too. That is helpful to understand my habits, my ways of coping with stress, and my ways of self soothing and escaping.

Thanks. Should I get the Mind monitor program? Does the Muse work with Myndlift as well?
I'm looking for a provider who can do brain function tests near the Valley Forge area. I'm interested in QEEG mapping and to find out if I have an ADD/ADHD pattern.

As someone who struggled with BP1 for over a decade I feel compelled to tell you DO NOT disregard professional neurofeedback therapy if you are struggling. I recognize that me saying this is entirely anecdotal but I have been off all medication for over 3 years now and I attribute a lot that to Neurofeedback. It works. You need someone professionally trained and should work in tandem with your psychiatrist but it is possible.
