This looks like a cute little set. I don't think Lego Star Wars gives us enough "place" sets where we can pose our figures, and your standard ship has minimal interior space. Even if this depicts the inside of a ship, I still like it a lot. I wouldn't mind having more of these relatively cheap dioramas of very specific scenes. Give us little slices of the SW vistas. I'd personally love the inside of the Endor bunker.
I think the diorama without those Christmas interior decorations and Rey & Finn minifigures is a great opportinity to recreate that A New Hope scene when Luke Skywalker trains with his father's lightsaber for the first time. Just need to add the right Luke & Obi-Wan minifigures alongside with a custom-built Marksman-H training combat remote.

I don't understand there are so many green parts in this set and to me the lightsaber looks yellow it looks nothing like the green parts. It looks more yellow like the yellow studs.

It's a Lego exclusive priced low enough that people have to buy something else directly from Lego just before Xmas to get the free postage but it isn't too expensive that people won't buy it as an add on to other orders. In the UK at least, retailers are already offering heavy discounts on Lego sets to keep sales up so Lego will be trying to drive sales somehow. Personally I think they could have made this an advent calendar build for those of us who don't really care about the micro builds.
No set is "necessary", this is a cute holiday set with some characters not currently in circulation and completes the set of sequel holiday characters. It's likely going to sell well if not better than advents.
