This set is criminally underrated. I got it for christmas in 2009 and built the whole thing in a day, i was only 8. It is a remarkably sturdy build and if you modify the interior you can fit many more minifigures.
Back in 2008 I didn’t like it simply because it wasn’t symmetrical, but now (especially with how prominent it became and Anakin’s blue paint job to match the 501st) I seriously wish I would have bought it! I would seriously love a remake!
I’ll never forget getting this set. I went to legoland with my family and they told me I could pick out one set and I choose this one. I was so excited that I built it on my bed! I woke up the next morning and found it smashed on the ground lmao
I remember discovering you as a kid, back around 2012. I was blown away that one person could have so many clone troopers! I loved watching all of your reviews and fondly remember waiting for each week of Building Kashyyyk. You got me to start my channel to enter your EXO Suit giveaway, and inspired me to start uploading a few years later. Even got to meet you at the first Philly Brick Fest, I was over the moon. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, this era of Lego Star Wars and Lego RUclips was the absolute best. Looking forward to many more years of videos from you!
David for real you play with my emotions and memories. I wasn‘t at the Toysrus event back in 2008 because I think they didn‘t lauched this event here in Germany as well but what I can clearly remember is buying the The Twilight and the Homing Spider Droid two days before the premier of the The Clone Wars Movie on August 14th watching the movie with my father in a small cinema. After the purchase of those two sets we drove back home to my grandparents I just grabed some fresh donuts and started building. Man thanks for this video! For real I watching you now since 2008 when the Lego RUclips Community was very small and most videos had only 480p resolutions 😅. Keep going what you doing 💪🏼…
I don’t get the hate for it. People seem to hate the Lego set, but what’s there to hate, since it’s accurate to the show? Sure it looks bulky and one-coloured and boring, but that was kind of the point of the ship in the clone wars, because it shows that no matter the ship design, Anakin can fly it.
It might be ugly in the show, and therefore ugly in Lego. But accuracy doesn’t make for an interesting set, especially compared to other sets out there. I don’t hate it, but it’s definitely on the bottom of my list of sets to spend over $100 on.
I can very clearly remember going to the store and choosing what I might like to get for Christmas. This was simply a starship that wasn't symmetrical. Definitely, the set wasn't popular because it released in a time when lego could do no wrong. The AT-TE was too awesome not to get it. The gunship was a must-have. It was the first time everyone wanted to build a clone army. Isn't the legendary MTT from that era too? In other words, if you had a birthday or christmas coming up, this set wasn't on your mind as a kid. Not because it's bad, but because we were all much more fascinated with the enormous war between clones and droids at the time. Remember the clone wars movie? Where this ship is a main plot point? Yeah, I hardly remember anything about Rota the hutt in the Twilight, but I'll never forget that awesome battlefield at the start of the movie, or the scene where the AT-TE climb up the wall. It's very hard to place ourselves back in 2008 and see this set for what it was, to us, at that time. Now it's awesome and we take the clone wars & their battles for granted. Back then it was the first large-scale warfare we had seen since the prequel movies. It spoke to our imagination so much more.
I had this set and i hated it, i still do. Its just the most ship ever and its so uninspiring. Its literally a big grey box Also on top of that the clone wars movie was very badly received at the time and i only starting like the clone wars around the time season 3-4 were released. (To be fair english isnt my first language so i only new english when i was around 12-13 years old) Thats when i was old enough to really like the clone wars but i still hate this ship lol
It's crazy to think you have been on RUclips for 15 years.....I've watched you since that first AT-TE review back in 2008. You are my longest tenured RUclipsr. Thanks for the decade and a half of great content
Nostalgia man. I still have my sets from 13 years ago all dusty now but started cleaning em. And this video popped up and I somehow ended up at target and purchased 10 packs of the 501st and 332nd 😂
YES! Finally, someone else acknowledging this beauty! This was my very first lego set, and it's such an underrated set! Is it literally just a gray block with a wing and an engine? Yes. Does that stop it from being awesome? NO! It was the fourth episode in my series: LEGO of the WEEK, and it's probably my favorite episode and my favorite set in general. So happy it's getting the recognition it deserves.
Love this set, in my top list. I got it used 2 years ago for 100€. Bought so many pieces from bricklink to fill all the gaps a make some components with modern pieces. Such underrated set.
I think for the most part everyone agrees the faces on this era of lego star wars minifigures looked a little scary lol, there is a charm to them though. It's very exclusive to this time period and anytime I see one of the minifigures a wave of nostalgia starts rushing in.
0:23 bro those boxes gave me nostalgia haha, I remember them clear as day. I was there on the opening weekend of the animated clone wars movie in cinemas. Cant believe that was in 2008, 16 years ago.
Enjoyed seeing an old set I got for Christmas being given some love. Twighlight was such an underrated ship honestly. Would love to see a more modern version of this.
You earned a sub by your appreciative review of this set. This ship is iconic to me and really brings me back to watching the clone wars with my 7 year old son just around the start of the pandemic. While the build of this specific set isn’t very desirable, I’m still closet wishing that either Lego or a reasonable play-scale MOC revamp of this will one day surface. Fingers crossed. Thank you for reviewing and going down memory lane for us. ❤
limited edition was something we saw a lot with bionicle. Pretty much every wave beyond like 2004 or 2005 had a limited edition set for either toys r us or walmart. One of those sealed walmart sets goes for like $600 now
Besides the AT-TE, I know it will never happen but if they remade the entirety of this wave with modern techniques and updated printing on the figures that would be absolutely amazing.
Well, I'm probably the rare one, but I did buy this set when it came out. I actually was in love with the twilight design. Granted it color leaves things to be desired, but the shape, OH THE SHAPE of the ship was so swooshable. Like you I was surprise by Lego choice to not use the empty space in the back. So I modified the set to have a med bay where you place the R2-D2 on the side, and removed the winch and cabinet, while making another winch setup in the area where the back hanger door is lock open (To match the show, Your thinking of the winch system is the Season 1 episode 2. When Anakin Rescues Plo Koon Escape Pod) Then modified the empty space into the back hanger bay interior we see in the show.
I never got this set at release but my friend Billy bought it back on release. Years later when we got into highschool he was getting rid of some legos and this was one of the sets with figs he was going to sell. Sold it to me for only $50. 100% complete minus the box.
You’re right-it’s very prominent in early Clone Wars. Big but still kinda ugly. Glad I wound up getting 3 on clearance! I still have 2 of them sealed somewhere. And I do love the glossy boxes.
OH MAN! I remember July 26th 2008 SO well! It was like christmas in the middle of summer for 13 year old me. I remember picking up the Homing Spider Droid with Phase 1 Commander Fox that night. Later that summer, I also got myself the Magnaguard Starfighter and the Gunship. And I remember getting the Twilight for christmas that year. It's an odd set, but I honestly kind of liked it... until I tore it apart for parts, of course. Good times! 😅
It would be great for LEGO to re-make The Twilight because it’s a great set for Clone Wars fans, but for me the 2008 set just lacks on too many levels. I actually had the chance to buy it sealed not long ago for $180 and passed, simply because it isn’t one from the 2008 wave that screams out at me to must have.
I’m one of the rare ones also! I got this set as a birthday gift when I was younger. Totally underrated imho, I thought this set was awesome! I still got all original pieces, figures, box, and instructions. I actually just recently rebuilt it too from out of my storage :)
The only things really holding the set back is an interior (although I'm not sure how well you could access it with the construction of the roof), and some kind of locking mechanism for the lower wing when in attack position. It's not the most glamorous set, but what do you want for something being accurate to the source material? Despite its faults, it still has a number of pretty impressive features and building techniques that you wouldn't normally think about. Is it worth it on the aftermarket? Only for a collector. Back in the day? While a bit steep, still worth the price considering just how large some of those pieces actually are. The Twilight really is only featured in the movie and Season 1 though. Had the T-6 Shuttle not been created for Season 2, the Twilight probably would have gotten more use past the first few episodes of Season 2. It really wasn't until Season 5 with Obi-wan's use of it that it was finally acknowledged again, and then promptly destroyed. To be honest, I didn't even really think about it being the Twilight until Obi-wan says that it's the last time he borrows a ship from Anakin, and there was actually a scene cut for time that involved Obi-Wan going to Anakin to get the Twilight, and Ahsoka questioning if that was a good idea because it wasn't in the best of shape. I think it would have been great to see it used a bit more prominently without T-6 or Eta-Class Shuttles being so heavily used in Seasons 2 and 3. The Twilight would have made a great ship to have be in Grievous Intrigue in Season 2, the Mortis Arc in Season 3 (They were meeting at a secret rendezvous point before getting sucked into Mortis), and the Deception Arc of Season 4 (Have Anakin and Ahsoka chase down our bounty hunters with something that doesn't scream Jedi). Even just simple one-time cameos would have made a difference, and that's not to slight the shuttles, but if Anakin is going on a mission, he's going to trust his ship that he's kitted out. Maybe he even prefers to do so because of the T-6 being too slow and why they got shot down over Felucia (It does technically take place earlier than a lot of Season 2 for whatever reason despite being the 17th episode). The other Jedi can fly the government issue ships, Anakin's definitely going to be using the one he's customized. Not to mention there are covert missions that Anakin would be going on, just like why Obi-Wan needed it, but we just never saw them. And the whole point of giving Anakin the Twilight to begin with was so that it wouldn't be a total lie that Luke's father used to fly a Spice Freighter for a living. While still technically true, let's get a bit more mileage out of it, or at least show Anakin struggle with the government issued ships and being a Jedi with attachments with something as simple as a ship of all things. Show that the Jedi really don't like Anakin having this ship, do something, don't just not use it for no reason because there were new toys to play with. Okay, rant about the Twilight over.
I usually don’t subscribe to channels, but after watching numerous videos from this challenge and going through this video and seeing and hearing the joy, excitement and history of the set and how this channel all began, I had to do my small part and subscribe. I’m not even a big Star Wars fan (and I know the channel is much more than that) but I still watch the majority of these videos because it’s always great to get someone else’s perspective on Lego sets and also see how their fandom leads to MOC’s and other info shared. Best of luck in getting to 1 million! I’ve done my part!
Oh man, I had to share this set with my little brother and we LOVED it. We filled in the open back section with a custom interior and it was a LOT of fun with a large interior and many features
always wanted this set as a kid, actually managed to get a pre owned one for 60 bucks back then. was dissapointed with the empty space in the middle, so i just built an interiour myself, worked out great actually, still looks quite legit. Ship still sits in my showcase today, love it.
Happy 15th Anniversary to your channel! It’s too bad I deleted my old channels a while back and this is my current (and temporary) main channel. But throughout my time, really loved your videos and this review! So proud of what you have accomplished!
I got this when I was a kid! It was one of my first Star Wars sets, and for a long time remained the largest set I had. I used to play with it in battles all the time and had it as the centerpiece of most of my displays. I just recently finished restored all of the missing pieces since I parted out all the sets I had at the time (Which I came to deeply regret as I grew up), and have it displayed me now as I type. Such an underrated set!
I luckily got this set when it was released all those years ago and it’s still one of my all time favorites sets in my collection, it’s just so nostalgic to me after watching the Clone Wars movie and show.
I Found most of the pieces for it in bulk Lego (partly assembled), have been working on completing it for 2 years now, with only 3 pieces missing, which I will be buying in my next BL order. Even though it is just a "big gray box", it is such an underrated set! Can't really tell why, it's just nice for some reason, and brings a lot of CW-realted memories every time I look at it.
I love this set, one of the few Clone Wars sets I still own! I was lucky enough to grab it about 6 years ago new for a good price. I always liked the Twilight in general as it was a nod to when Obi-Wan told Luke in a new hope that his father flew cargo ships!
I remember seeing all these sets back in those days, and I only ended up buying about 3-4 sets of the entire Clone Wars wave, since the entire series was foreign to me. I watched the Clone Wars only last year (2022) and Rebels and Bad Batch this year (2023) and I finally appreciate the Lego that came out then, and wish that I knew about all of this sooner.
Faaaack it’s the true one set we all want, needs a remake as this ship was a good team ship(sure all the fighters are great to play with but to have the og team travel together is cannon)
you can actually hold it with two fingers under the top gun when its up, and its very easy to modify the back door to open up a lot more and put a big plate on the bottom technic bricks.
I actually still own this set i got it back in 2008 And its funny you mentioned the empty space inside that could’ve been used for something, i actually modified the area to have more space for minifigs, i just took out the tow hitch and put a simple plate in there 👌
I’m just about to pick up a Freeci speeder (spelling?) so was watching some reviews and stumbled across yours from many many moons ago. I was about to sign off once I watched but instead wanted to find out if you were still doing this. Channel has seen a ton of growth man and the videos look great. Some great new content for me to binge watch. Thank you. Consider me subscribed!!
This ship has awesome structure and i my opinion must be reworked and re-released again hopefully soon! The interior should be more accessible than before.
I really would love if Lego made a wave of sets of the OG first Clone wars seasons. For a SWTCW anniversary. 1. Redo some old sets that had unused potential (like the twilight which is the Millenium Falcon of Clone wars) 2. Do sets they never made but were featured heavily in the show (Like a lucrehulc or munificient)
May revamp it, however, tiles would be used sparingly to keep an ample amount of studs showing so it comes across as 'ugly' still. Keeping all of the old functions, but maybe adding some spring loaders etc.
Just came back to lego a couple months ago and i have to say.. when you talked about the lack of numbers on the bags and in my personal opinion, garbage instructions.. i had vietnam flashbacks 😂.. would be nice if they re release some of these sets someday als a sort of retro thing, they could easily find out which are popular enough for a re release
Dang, these were the glory days of Star Wars Legos! I always wanted the 2008 AT-TE with Captain Rex. Sadly, I never got it. Now it is to expensive to buy. It make me so mad/sad!
I've been trying to collect all the 2008 sets from that waive, and I do agree with totally forgetting about it. It's definitely a set I'd like to have and probably get used, lol.
I really hope that we get a rebuplic Y-wing, been wanting one since i saw the original back as a kid and i am just sitting here waiting patiently for a new one
Unlike everyone, i've always liked and wanted the twilight, but i never had the occasion to buy one. Sometimes i just wish that lego remade the sets that is no longer available. (I'm not talking about making a new version of it, but just remade the exact same set.) I totaly don't care about if that means that old set value will go down, for me this is a good thing, because i don't like to see some of them having exagerate price just because of some rare minifigure or pieces, because when i buy a set for my collection, i don't care about if it's going to become expensive in the future, or if a set i already own is, i'm not going to sell it, so what's the matter of the price in this case ? It would be just amazing for collectors, but a nightmare for sellers, so i understand if there is people that is not okay with me, this is just my opignon.
I’ve been watching you since you were Legoboy, did not know you rebranded lmao. I was always super jealous of your insane clone army. 15 years man jesus christ I feel my age now…
My friend actually owns a sealed copy of this set and let me hold it, never did I think I would see a new copy of this set let alone hold it in my arms
I actually really like this one, never had it myself, but would love a re-make of it, tho it will probably never happen. But, you never know? Maybe a 20 years anniversary of Clone Wars??
i'm pretty sure my friend was the only persn that had this set and he took it apart immediately lol. i have a ton of nostalgia for this ship even if it's not the coolest design.
In this era I got this set instead of the fighter tank or the republic shuttle and I would’ve rather had both for the price tag of this hunk of junk today. I never plan to dig thru the collection and rebuild this ship either so that stands true to this day
I found this set in a mixed box of assorted legos. It was pretty much completely disassembled and I ended up having to find a couple of missing pieces in my own collection of random pieces but I managed to build it! I got it for less than $20 but it didn’t have any mini figures
Such a sleeper set, I remember wanting this back in the day. I wish theyd remake it
I would like that too but it's very unlikely.
Imagine mass effect lego sets😢
I think it's very unlikely they'll ever remake it but hey you never know
@lordofchronos7985 That would be nothing short of legendary. Imagine a UCS style Normandy. I think a mini figure series would be awesome as well
@KosherPorky ikr personally I would love to see a reaper maybe even Sovereign it would definitely be a challenge to make a model of him
This set is criminally underrated.
It didn't have a blue paintjob?
@@dstil4 I think it was painted a dark blue where it was dark grey originally, I just looked it up and it seems to be that way…
@@jannerwingfeatherI just looked it up I’m not seeing a blue paint job
i watched legoboy a ton when I was 5-7 years old. thank you for everything ❤
I’ll never forget getting this set. I went to legoland with my family and they told me I could pick out one set and I choose this one. I was so excited that I built it on my bed! I woke up the next morning and found it smashed on the ground lmao
were you playing with it in your sleep or something?
I had this bad boy as a kid! I'm not sure why I bought this over the AT-TE lol. I feel like I was a weird kid...
0:47 GOATED Alpha Rex in the Backround.
Goated clone wars Rex in the Foreground.

nostalgia trip. Honestly, one of or if not thee best Star Wars wave to come out

Yeah man, I get that people think it’s a nice set but compared to almost anything else in- or out of universe it’s not close to a top tier ship
Would you sell a sealed one? I missed this one as a kid as well and have been wanting to pick one up.
This would honestly be a neat remake if they scaled it down and included early show variants of some clone wars characters

Got this for Christmas when I was five. One of my all time favorites
Oh man, I had to share this set with my little brother and we LOVED it. We filled in the open back section with a custom interior and it was a LOT of fun with a large interior and many features
I find this so ironic, back in the day this was the only set I wanted for Christmas, and that set brought years of joy
I have been watching your videos for 8 years
always wanted this set as a kid, actually managed to get a pre owned one for 60 bucks back then.
was dissapointed with the empty space in the middle, so i just built an interiour myself, worked out great actually, still looks quite legit.
I hope The Twilight gets an upgrade
I love this set, one of the few Clone Wars sets I still own! I was lucky enough to grab it about 6 years ago new for a good price. I always liked the Twilight in general as it was a nod to when Obi-Wan told Luke in a new hope that his father flew cargo ships!
This was such a throwback for me! Thank you for making this
I remember seeing all these sets back in those days, and I only ended up buying about 3-4 sets of the entire Clone Wars wave, since the entire series was foreign to me. I watched the Clone Wars only last year (2022) and Rebels and Bad Batch this year (2023) and I finally appreciate the Lego that came out then, and wish that I knew about all of this sooner.
this ship needs more mocs. imagine a minifig scale with a minifig scale Delta7B in the hanger
One of my favorite Star Wars games from childhood was the Fierce Twilight. So I have a strong nostalgia thing for this ship.
I’ve gotten out of Lego recently but your videos are always so well shot, edited, etc. that I have to tune in. Great work bro
Means the world, thank you ❤
My dad got it for me as a christmas gift. One of my favorite sets that I keep on display!
I bought this set about 4 years ago after getting back into Lego. I still have to build it! It does have a big footprint.
I had a dream last night that Lego released a new version of the Twilight. This is surreal to be seeing this pop up on my feed immediately after that.
Woah
Am I misremembering, or could you park the 2008 Anakin's Starfigter in the bay at the back?
Would a 2009 Y Wing be a better purchase or the twilight? Let me know below 👇
I bought it about 4 years go I still have the box lol I understand his excitement
I actually still own this set i got it back in 2008
And its funny you mentioned the empty space inside that could’ve been used for something, i actually modified the area to have more space for minifigs, i just took out the tow hitch and put a simple plate in there 👌
I’m just about to pick up a Freeci speeder (spelling?) so was watching some reviews and stumbled across yours from many many moons ago. I was about to sign off once I watched but instead wanted to find out if you were still doing this. Channel has seen a ton of growth man and the videos look great. Some great new content for me to binge watch. Thank you. Consider me subscribed!!
It's so beautiful 😢
Hardcore Clone Wars fan that didn't realise until recent times how important this ship was.
This ship has awesome structure and i my opinion must be reworked and re-released again hopefully soon! The interior should be more accessible than before.
I really would love if Lego made a wave of sets of the OG first Clone wars seasons. For a SWTCW anniversary.
1. Redo some old sets that had unused potential (like the twilight which is the Millenium Falcon of Clone wars)
I remember I got this set in a lot deal from ebay back in 2013 for Christmas. The set is really big and bulky but I absolutely love it
I still remember my grandpa got me the twight for my birthday. It was misisng pieces but just recently i went to bricklink and managed to finish it!
This is honestly in my top 10 sets of all time, absolutely amazing ship in cannon
I cannot believe you haven’t gotten to 1 mil yet your such a deserving RUclipsr
My mom bought this for me back in the day when I was like 6, it’s completely destroyed now but definitely a nostalgia trip
I think I’d mod it where u could fit the escape pod inside the cargo bay, yes it’s supposed to be a cargo bay to rescue plokoon , and his clones.
Wow I was not prepared for the nostalgia..... Wish we could go back to the more simple times man. The community was so great
I always liked The Twilight. It's a cool unique mini freighter.
I think the tow cable was used in the malevolence arc when they rescued the escape pod
I really hope that we get a rebuplic Y-wing, been wanting one since i saw the original back as a kid and i am just sitting here waiting patiently for a new one
Dude this set is awesome, such an iconic ship
We need a stream soon.
Today I found out that people actually hated the Twilight. I always found it to be a cool unique ship personally.
15 years man jesus christ I feel my age now…
Twilight! I just recently got this myself, its very underrated imo
This set is sooo underrated
My friend actually owns a sealed copy of this set and let me hold it, never did I think I would see a new copy of this set let alone hold it in my arms
I’m making up for 10 years of a Lego-less life by buying older sets not that I’m not a kid and have money lol
I truly love the set. I modified it so much to fix all the gaps (only one of few sets I upgraded). Not sure why this is such a underrated set.
In this era I got this set instead of the fighter tank or the republic shuttle and I would’ve rather had both for the price tag of this hunk of junk today. I never plan to dig thru the collection and rebuild this ship either so that stands true to this day
I had this one! I remember being frustrated that the cockpit was small and separate but it had a cool mechanism for opening
I had this back in the day it was one of my favorite ones to actually play with
Hey man I love your videos you inspire me to make mocs
Fun fact: On the box they place R2D2 head backwards in the photo
Mhm, you might notice my fun easter egg on the last part of the video haha
Honestly forgot this existed now I have to go buy it! 😭 😂
I found this set in a mixed box of assorted legos. It was pretty much completely disassembled and I ended up having to find a couple of missing pieces in my own collection of random pieces but I managed to build it! I got it for less than $20 but it didn’t have any mini figures
