I especially like the photo of Stevie at 4.16, with his hat shadowing the top half of his face. It was taken at the Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, Australia, in early March 1986. I know this because I WAS THE PHOTOGRAPHER!!!
Theres killer footage of him playing that venue in march 86 but must have been another day because of his outfit. He has some incredible moments in it including holding the guitar above his head with one arm which I've never seen him do before
Yes, I have a copy of that video. It doesn't matter to me though because on that tour he played 2 nights in Sydney and I was in Front row centre seats on BOTH NIGHTS, so I was at that gig too. I also took a shot of him holding the guitar above his head as you mentioned. If you search for Steve Tyne on Facebook you'll see I've just posted it.
For everyone comparing Clapton and SRV: It's not Clapton can't play like SRV nor SRV can't play like Clapton. They are technically proficient enough to play in whatever style. The only reason not to do so is that's not their sound. A world class guitarist like them must have their own sound, And this unique sound is the gift or legacy they gave to the world.
well, give Clapton credit, he's not the usual guitar showman, yet when he plays for real you can't help but notice it, in any case, i think Clapton's biggest handicap is his sense of economy in his records, even in his own songs he tends to not overplay that's why his concerts are so special: his live performances are 1000 times better than his studio recordings, and they're worth every penny each time you go see him play
I was at this concert. SRV blew Clapton away that night. It was blatant to everybody. Read Clapton's remarks. "One of the purest channels I've ever seen, where everything he sang and played flowed straight down from heaven. Almost like one of those mystic Sufi guys with one finger pointing up and one finger down. That's what it was like to listen to. And I had to leave just to preserve some kind of sanity or confidence in myself." Eric Clapton.
I was the production supervisor for the Palace Television Center the night of this show. We were on hold to do video for the show. The crew had the gear set. The road manager made a couple of trips back to my office to say he didn't know if it was a go or not. Eric did not make the call to not do video that night until a couple of hours after crew call. His manager felt bad for us (we were DYING to do this show), and gave the crew all back stage passes. Then, just before the band came on, he walked me up on stage, set me up behind the stacks, and said "you can watch from here," and left. When Stevie came on, it was like I was in a dream. I lived a lot of cool things in those days, but this may be the coolest. I left the stage that night as limp as over cooked spaghetti.
I can't listen to SRV without getting chills and an energy that makes me want to play my guitar. Eric Clapton himself has stated in so many words that Stevie was on a level higher than he was. It doesn't make him less of a player. It would be a mighty dull world if everyone played guitar the same way.

That's a fact? Wow! Do you have the documentation to prove this alleged fact? It's called an opinion. And my opinion is that you should eat the shit you mentioned in your comment.
I wish I was there. I missed such good music I hate I was born in 95 and only discovered blues in 2019. That year was the first time I heard true music and been loving life ever since
Saw SRV and Jeff Healey May 30,1987 at The Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. That's when I decided shred was dead, for me. I put away my jazz III picks, sold all my rack gear and Charvels His encore version of Rude Mood and Lenny could pull tears from a rock......Thank God for Eric Gales and Gregg White.
I remembered this concert like it was yesterday....It occured on Easter Sunday in 1990....I saw Stevie just the night before in Ann Arbor, MI.....Went to see Clapton the next day and Stevie showed up and played five tunes with Clapton....By far the highlight of this concert.
I was at this show! It was the only time I got to see SRV live and believe me he blew the roof off the place. My friend and I just watched him jam with our mouths hanging open. It was really something because we went to see Clapton first of all, and we had no idea Stevie was there. But during the intermission we started seeing roadies with SRV shirts, and we looked at each other wide eyed and said could he really be here?? And sure enough Stevie comes out for the encore and the place went bananas. What a night!
C'mon fellas...to the guys saying "Clapton is boring" or "SRV blew him away"...are you kidding me? They're different guitarists, but you can't say one has more soul than the other. They're both masters of the Blues, and they deserve nothing less than total respect from anyone who bothered to click on this video to watch it. Listen with more than your ears on this one.
@AshburnFilmWorks I was there and it was no contest, Stevie was heavens above Eric in his playing. Eric just shook his head and laughed as Stevie just tore it up.
I was at this show as well. No one expected it, although I knew Stevie was playing in Ann Arbor the night before. Before the introduction, I looked to the side of the stage, and in the seats was Stevie with his legs over the seats in the front.I recognized him right away, and pointed him out to my wife. I distinctly remembering him jumping up on the stage, and literally hunching over his guitar when he played his solo. It was mesmerizing, and Eric was just grinning. Played 3 songs if I remember. Thanks for posting this!
I've seen Clapton probably about 6 times live. Used to be my favorite until I saw him and SRV play together. Still like Clapton, always will. SRV was a very physical player, you really noticed it when you saw him play live. He did very fast bending and vibrato, looked like he was going to snap the neck off. Would have been interesting to watch him age to see how long he could keep up that physical style. I think he was heading in the direction of jazz before he died.
Yes he was. That is kind of the thing on blues guitar; the visceral inflection of emotion. He inherited that from Albert and Freddie King, but what seperates Stevie (Just like Hendrix) is that he was a great rhythm guitar player. Not just his comping, but the rythm in his solos.
Clapton makes my head go up n down with the tasty 60s groove....SRV makes my head melt into the floorboards as I scream with the biggest smile on my face....or something along those lines
Never met Clapton but knew Stevie quite well.I knew him both before and after he cleaned up and went drug free.I know the drugs of choice that nearly killed him.His tragic death would have been hell if Christ would have turned His back when Stevie was literally down on his face crippled by years of self abuse that started out of fear from the abuse he suffered as a child. Those are his words. My words are nearly identical.Perhaps that's why we became friends.I only have 1 of the 3 Stratocasters he signed for me now.along with a pile of back stage passes photos, and the local news paper with the photo of Stevie and I on the front page below the fold from the interview I gave just after Stevie left us on a helicopter and flew to heaven. I need to get that old Strat out and get it playing again. Stevie is my friend. I never knew anyone else like him.I even paid for a vanity plate in Michigan on my car to honor the man. It says SRV- RIP that's mine for ever.Stevie has been gone around as long as he lived. I'm getting old too.God only knows why I'm still here but I'm clean too.See ya soon my friend. The Lord God must like guitars with giant strings tuned low. Play that " long A and the Hook G" you told me about till I get there. " Life Without You" is still hard for me to listen to.But, is your testimony buddy. God has blessed Stevie Ray Vaughan and me also for knowing him like St.Peter said," If only for a little while." Eternal Rest is yours Stevie. minister mike, brothermikesongs/ kidaintrightproductions & timepiecemusic 😎
My wife and I were at this show, brings back a lot of great memories. This song was actually án encore, Eric brought Stevie out and I almost shit myself cuz I was so excited. The show was amazing!! Two blues icons in one place
This is what EC needs from time to time, a guitarist who can push him.. He did it with Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall , Jeff Beck, BB King, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Albert King;Buddy Guy, Carlos Santana and all the session guitarist (Ry Cooder, Steve Lukather ...) he had over the years.. And the Cream reunion in 2005 did push him to play like he did in the 60's.......
@@KingKull1971 and Terry Kath blew Jimi away. Jimi words in 1970 when he heard CTA in LA. Then he let them open up for him on a short tour. RIP to 3 great guitarists
@@michaelparish9645 Kath didn't blow Hendrix off the stage. Hendrix just thought Kath was better than he was. But of course, that isn't true, but it was his opinion nonetheless. Kath got drowned out by Chicago's horn section.
Both styles compliment each other. Eric is a technical master, while Stevie was a force of nature. I enjoy listening to the expertise of a virtuoso, and I also like someone who was a conduit of the gods. As Clapton once remarked, "It just flowed out of him." His intro here was like a bull in a china shop. Just blistering. Of course, Vaughan idolized Clapton -- so they both fed off each other. Do love that meaty tone of Stevie's, though. Those extremely thick-gauge strings he used sounded out of this world.
+Tar Watered Technical Master? I don't mean to be cruel or negative here, but here's the opinion of a 40 year musician and 35 year professional sound engineer. Eric Clapton has his moments but he is not one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time. Clapton was/is a fumbling ametuer compared to SRV on this video. Joe Bonamassa smokes Clapton. Clapton is an excellent songwriter. He dosen't have he command of the fretboard like SRV, Hendrix, even Billy Gibbons, Joe Walsh. Alvin Lee...
Right. Your opinion. Doesn't make it so. Plus, your opinion carries less weight than Clapton's peers. Everyone from BB King, to Buddy Guy, to Robert Cray have talked about Clapton's skill. But I get it. It's cool to hate on Clapton now. Despite the fact that he was one of the primary forces behind the rise of British Blues, playing with everyone from John Mayall to Buddy Guy (during his stint in Britain) to Freddie King. I would even go so far to say that SRV himself would disagree with you. If you read Vaughan's biography, you'd see just how much he respected Clapton's abilities.
+Mikee535 You lost all credibility when you said you think Hendrix is a better technician than Clapton let alone Billy Gibbons or Joe Walsh. Hendrix was better at funk strumming than Clapton, aside from that Clapton was a much more fluid player and he was doing it in the early 60s. Clapton's studio solos were one take stream of consciousness masterpieces wheras Hendrix deliberated and thoughtfully composed his stuff. If you'd said Bloomfield or Allman fair enough, but Hendrix was a studio player who was very sloppy live.
They are both great . Though from what my ears tell me in this show stevie muat have used one of claptons guitars to play the song . The tone is mostly on the hands though .
I couldn't tell you how many times I've said this exact same thing on this video, but that Stevie solo is one of the best things I've ever heard. I get chills every time I listen to it.
The last 2 years...88-90 have the most intense, frenzied and amazing work from SRV... Funny he was doing in his thirties what Buddy Guy is doing currently in his 70's in regards to effects/fuzz/in your face phrasing and shredding. He was so far ahead of the curve.
Olivier Marson I padri del blues sono altri.....Robert Johnson....Elmore James... Muddy Waters....James Cotton... B:B: King....Buddy Guy...ecc.ecc. SRV non è mai stato un bluesman !!!
If there's something here that gives me more goosebumps than SRV tearing down the house.. that would be the cheering and the roar of the crowd going bonkers. Beautiful, moving, choking... Stevie was taking from us way too soon. He will never be forgotten.
Saw Bob Seger play the Palace last night, last concert before they tear the place down. Seger says one of his favourite memories of the Palace was being in the crowd when Stevie took the stage with Clapton for this song. Had to search for it today. Glad I did.
What's all this competition talk? You got the two best and most soulful musicians totally in sync! Be glad we all had the chance to witness something so romantic. I play, and I use that word cuz if you play and find someone to jam with and you're that in line, there's no better feeling. Cheers to two of the greatest, SRV gone but never forgotten, we still love you.
Yes, one the easiest guitarist to recognize. Even if thousands of professional guitarists has copied him he is instantly recognisable. He is so true to his own expression.
SRV was smoking hot in the beginning but Clapton came back strongly by stepping up his game around 6:00 with his versatility... stop phrasing, varying the pace, crazy note bends and his impeccable sense of melody, here he's playing extended spontaneous solos again which he stopped after breaking up with Cream, Derek and the Dominos. Its amazing how he can break down the notes at will with the clinical precision of a surgeon
running man nothing or no one can go up against a Stevie Ray Vaughan on fire! And he was always on fire! He was the Superman, Thor and Hulk rolled into one at that time! That said - Eric's voice has the magic. Most people forget that! You hear that voice , you know this is Eric Clapton! That 's what allowed him to graduate to pop artist and become a planetary superstar!
running man I think you aren't giving Stevie enough credit and over praising clapton slightly. I will say right off that yes clapton is very melodious and clean and what have you but to say Stevie is one dimensional is just false. No one came close to the energy or passion SRV put into every single note until he came a long. Took a little bit from every master before him and put it all into a perfect style to forefront the Blues revival. Clapton isn't bad but can't hold it anywhere near Stevie when it comes to blues. And no Stevie doesn't always play fast and doesn't always play the same thing. Go see Lenny, Riviera paradise, Third stone at el mocambo. Whatever it may be Stevie is much more deeply rooted in blues and an overall more skilled guitarist.
running man Gary Moore, Jeff Beck are hacks compared to SRV... especially Beck,.,he's overrated as hell, none of his songs sound really great live! SRV is the 12"er in the room...people just stare. You got a charming 7" guy on your side who you keep repeating ho much feel he has and brings flowers every day! At the end of the day 12" are 12" and people's jaw drop! sorry for the analogy, but that' show it is! If you want feel, there' sBB King! and there's BB King! If you want passion, technique, insane speed, endless vocabulary and the best ton win guitar history, there is Stevie Ray Vaughan! He died too young because elf an accident! Clapton said when he first heard SRV driving in his car, he had to pull over and stop and find out who it was. He was thinking ..."that's the end of my career, it' s over" he said... NO Malmsteen, Skinnyman Steve Vai and all these thin sound guitar players with 0.0008 strings can come even close to a Vaughan! he's the ultimate guitar powerhouse! Every note is on fire - all the time!
If I close my eyes I can picture the great SRV...Amazing amazing amazing goosebumps everytime I listen to this... RIP WONDERFUL BLUES MAN THE GREAT SRV ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I haven't listened to this in a while. Clapton has always been my favorite musician for many reasons. To my ears, his playing has the perfect balance of fire and finesse. His note placement and phrasing are very musical as well. I love both of these guys for sure. It was an honor for me to see Stevie play twice right around this same time. It is impossible to thing of the world of guitar and music overall without the contributions of both artists. Together they wrote ne hell of a lot of the book that others follow.
God man Stevies playing had improved so much in the last few years of his life. Not that he was too shabby to begin with. But after he got clean it was like he went from 1 to 100. R.I.P. SRV!
SRV is my favorite guitarist of all time, and I listen and play him every day, but as a true bluesman, there was something about his coke/liquor addicted days that made his notes sound more blues-passionate. I’m so happy for him as a person he got clean, but undeniably his best performances were when he was fucked up because his notes actually showed the truest sorrow and misery a man can experience, and I respect him for openly showing the dark side of life that so many people arent brave enough to unleash. Any time I deal with my demons I think about stevie losing control of himself yet being so pure at the same time, which shows me theres always someone suffering worse and that I should love every day because stevie still loved life even though his problems were worse than anyone you know. How many guys do you know that ran away from an abusive home at 14 after drinking liquor daily since age 6 and STILL was a nice positive guy to everyone who ever met him. RIP stevie, and fuck that dumbass helicopter pilot.
Im not saying you are wrong but i agree with this guy completly. There is even an interview where srv talks about it. He says not only does he play better he hears better. There is a definate difference. Listen to soul to soul era and after in step. The last year or 2 of his life he was not human. BB king talks about how when he played was like talking. He said when he played he would say a sentence but when srv played it never stopped. He said he didnt have that ability nor does anybody else really. That is bb king saying that. Clapton said kinda the same thing said he was an open channel. Think it was more imagination soul and feel than ability but his tone is better than anyone ive ever heard. No telling how strong his hands where.
Stevie live at the El Macombo, my personal favourite performance of his, and of anyone really. Crazy soulfulness, gritty...almost dirty. That time was likely the peak of him being wrecked. Sad, but after all, it is the blues...
These friends really compliment each other. It's just too bad more duet performances together never will happen again. Can you imagine these two forming a band? Would have been awesome !
I had a new level of respect for Clapton when he embraced Stevie and shared a stage with him. Eric admitted that he couldn't listen to SRV for more than 20 minutes without losing all confidence as a guitar player. God we all miss you Stingray!
Found one! Can't post a link to it, but just search under: B.B. KING, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN, ERIC CLAPTON - Why I Sing the Blues Pretty good tune. I knew there HAD to be a video of them both somewhere. Enjoy!
I really do hope it was captured. And your probably right, someone did capture it and just doesn't want to share it. That's beyond cool that you were at this show. I read that Stevie used one of Clapton's guitar's. And yeah, Stevie sounds out of this world throughout the two songs he does at this show!!
Eric’s first solo at 1:57 is very well thought out -and I like his phrasing, almost pristine like the stain-glass cutting he once did in Art School-but fresh with dazzling sparkles of gem-like notes. Stevie’s solo at 3:38 is raw and powerful with a great roar from the audience at note 1. Also, I really enjoyed the collection of stock photos of both, with subliminal message and wit -upon the dissolve editing. Some of the photos are quite rare. This video is worth repeat enjoyment and study.
I Heard An Entire Night Of Just Blues From Clapton In 1995...In Fact It Was Halloween Night As I Remember....He Was INCREDIBLE! And Sober!🎉 There Was NO ONE - Nor Will There Ever Be ANYONE Like You, Stevie...I Know How Much You Loved Eric - But You Were A Force & A BEAUTIFUL Spirit All To Your Own, & You Are SO Dearly MISSED!😢 Soul💞Soul - ALWAYS💗
@HellaKool76 I watch and listen to Live at El Mocambo and I know Stevie wins any battle against ANYONE anytime...thank God there are no such battles. Not to forget Stevie was as authentic in Blues as no Englishman could ever be
Why does everyone think this is a competition? Sounds like they were having a lot of fun, and they left that stage I bet thinking wow, what a good time:) You do not have to judge them, or say who is better etc. They didn't think that I am sure, they were jamming and appreciating each other's talent, saying yeah, this is cool....just my thoughts on it...or...God, a string better not break, or, damn those lights are bright, etc. I simply enjoyed the song:)
Roland Lemus they were great friends, much like Clapton and Hendrix. People dont seem to understand these guys only got better by playing together. BB King often spoke of his adopted brother Eric and adopted son Stevie. No other words could say more.
just by the look on stevie,s face he is makeing love to his guitar , i bet he could make a women very happy. he puts his heart and soul in it. love you stevie. r.i.p.
Like always, I will always remember where I was , driving over a bridge back home in Vancouver on a stormy night, lightening, when I heard on Rock 101fm SRV plane went down, forever in my heart! Could you imagine SRV a few more years on? Like Jimi Hendrix? So so sad, huge loss, I love the blues, many concerts, many, gets into your soul, kick back, lala land! However ....... Blues is what I was raised on so this really hit me and many hard. Respect SRV*
Worried me, too....so I looked him up...and here I am... replaying Bette LaVette,,,that's how it goes when you live life down the cyber rabbit hole...thank you for telling me about this..and I'll write my doctorate about it......
While everyone's busy pontificating all over the place there's this thing about the presentation this man obviously spent hours on for our enjoyment. I laud your much appreciated effort and talent to take a series of pictures, and a hand-held recorder and give us such a marvelous presentation. Much more effective than if we were watching film. - You've captured all the emotion and guitar glory anyone could ask for. Thank you
Thankyou for sharing this video with us! You made my year! Eric dressed up like superman and the many adorable faces of Stevie Ray! My favorite one of him is at 6:58...the eyes...windows into the soul!
Two of the four or five greats of that time. SRV, Clapton & then Albert King, BB King, Freddie King, (if alive then), Buddy Guy & Albert Collins, the GREATS of American R& B with Clapton being the "outsider" of Blues Power.... IT's stupendously GINORMOUS . . . .
this same tour this year was when i had went to biloxi to see eric clapton and stevie ray. stevie ray died right before that. eric played the whole concert himself. it still makes me sad to remember that even today.

Clapton is perfectly tasteful. Stevie is perfectly savage.
RIP Stevie. Gone way to soon
You can clearly tell when Clapton plays and when SRV plays. Both are great. Imagine the stuff SRV would have put out if he hadn't passed away.
Both had Eric,s same Fender here
It was the 90’s I’m not sure if he would have made it through the grunge movement
"There was no one better than him on this planet. Really unbelievable"
........... Eric Clapton
@Poua Kai And Albert Lee, Mark knopfler, R Cray, etc...
Mark knopfler doesn’t exist in comparison tô SRV

Let's leave at that.. SRV would tell you the same thing..

God has blessed Stevie Ray Vaughan and me also for knowing him like St.Peter said," If only for a little while." Eternal Rest is yours Stevie. minister mike,

Would you care to sell some of the backstage oasses?
My wife and I were at this show, brings back a lot of great memories. This song was actually án encore, Eric brought Stevie out and I almost shit myself cuz I was so excited. The show was amazing!! Two blues icons in one place
Ya baby
Wasn’t this the last show he did before getting in that dammed helicopter?
@@01wcsr no,this is April,the bad thing happened August 26th
If you did shit yourself maybe you’d have had the whole show to yourself!
Love Eric Clapton, Stevie is on another plane! His soul, energy and technical proficiency is palpable!
Saw that show! The whole Detroit crowd was blown away when SRV joined Clapton on stage - Journeyman was a Fab album!
Was it cool to see SRV & Clapton in person?
I was also there, I was 10 🙂

This is what EC needs from time to time, a guitarist who can push him.. He did it with Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall , Jeff Beck, BB King, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Albert King;Buddy Guy, Carlos Santana and all the session guitarist (Ry Cooder, Steve Lukather ...) he had over the years.. And the Cream reunion in 2005 did push him to play like he did in the 60's.......
Yes, but Jimi Hendrix blew him off the stage. Now that's saying something...
I was honored to see these guitar greats in person...one in Akron and one in Cleveland...terrific 👍
30 years ago the World lost SRV. Thank You for the wonderful music.
If you read Vaughan's biography, you'd see just how much he respected Clapton's abilities.
you give a new meaning to stupid!!!!
+Mikee535
You lost all credibility when you said you think Hendrix is a better technician than Clapton let alone Billy Gibbons or Joe Walsh.
I can't believe I'll never get to see SRV live! Or anyone like him, 'cause there isn't.
I couldn't tell you how many times I've said this exact same thing on this video, but that Stevie solo is one of the best things I've ever heard. I get chills every time I listen to it.
@Ryan Mozert lmao what
Stevie is my favorite musician ever!
The last 2 years...88-90 have the most intense, frenzied and amazing work from SRV... Funny he was doing in his thirties what Buddy Guy is doing currently in his 70's in regards to effects/fuzz/in your face phrasing and shredding. He was so far ahead of the curve.
Oooh boy. Very obvious when Stevie came out to play. So fierce. So colorful.
Truthfully...my two favorite players ever. Say what you will...these two defined blues rock. I miss Stevie so much
I saw him open for Robert Plant.. SRV doing Willie the Wimp was GREAT. I can still play it in my head. After 23 years
Two of the best ever - perfect combo on strats playing blues
SRV is blues... texas blues but BLUES..
Olivier Marson I padri del blues sono altri.....Robert Johnson....Elmore James...
Muddy Waters....James Cotton... B:B: King....Buddy Guy...ecc.ecc. SRV non è mai stato un bluesman !!!
Despina Luigini Si!!! Despina, si, si I personally met Koko Taylor.... and love John lee hooker... :)
reason why i said texas blues, but blues.... Cheers!
Just got to say, I 💕 both musicians! Stevie was a god but Clapton is a unique gentle Artist that holds his own!
The more I listen, tears come to my eyes. Just a reminder of what a tragic loss.
THANK YOU GOOD Movie maker I see LIVE sir ERIC CLAPTON IN 1999 in MSG New York He is Maestro of Rock-n-Roll !!!
Yes, one the easiest guitarist to recognize. Even if thousands of professional guitarists has copied him he is instantly recognisable. He is so true to his own expression.
two of the greatest guitar players with two different styles
:)
:)
I was at this show, what a surprise when Stevie Ray came out for the encore!!
God man Stevies playing had improved so much in the last few years of his life. Not that he was too shabby to begin with. But after he got clean it was like he went from 1 to 100. R.I.P. SRV!
SuperGitfiddle Stevie was always blessed wen it came to improve. IN MY OPINION
Bad Mann would've been the best band of all-time
My two favorite guitar players!!!!
I had a new level of respect for Clapton when he embraced Stevie and shared a stage with him. Eric admitted that he couldn't listen to SRV for more than 20 minutes without losing all confidence as a guitar player. God we all miss you Stingray!
Two Giants !!! It doesn't get better with two of the BEST !
They should have done an album together . That would of been something !!
Different styles, different techniques--but no one, ever, tore a song from a guitar like Stevie Ray
Listen to that crowd.....wow....these 2 will stay in history. these hacks nowadays don't have shit on clapton, and nobody will have shit on SRV.
Found one! Can't post a link to it, but just search under:
B.B. KING, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN, ERIC CLAPTON - Why I Sing the Blues
Pretty good tune.
Miss you Stevie Ray you were at your best. Nobody holds a candle to U!!!
They are both fantastic guitarist why compare just enjoy these maestro's, geniuses magic just magic love there playing.
Love how the crowd pops after Stevie starts his solo!!!
Hahaha you just cant ignore or miss the thunderous tone of Stevie's..
Not to forget Stevie was as authentic in Blues as no Englishman could ever be
Thanks for sharing this Jem of Clapton n Stevie.
EVERYTHIG IS, IN FACT, COMPETITION; IT'S THE WAY HUMANS ARE.
Roland Lemus they were great friends, much like Clapton and Hendrix. People dont seem to understand these guys only got better by playing together. BB King often spoke of his adopted brother Eric and adopted son Stevie. No other words could say more.
Roland Lemus I don’t know about Clapton but if you listen to any interview s from Srv. Hehe has nothing but respect for his fellow blues artists.
I was at this concert I was 10.. Fucking parents ruled!!
Roland Lemus you are so righr
Happy Birthday Stevie we miss ya but we know ur showing the angels how to play the blues
Wow that was ...three of the greatest guitarists ever .
Two of the greatest player's in my world, thank you for uploading this amazing video.
Brings chills to me as I listen to this. Saw Srv 7 times
My two favorite guitars players , they are my influence for i play guitar.
Well said dirtypool...and if anyone wants to hear Stevie play something slow and suttle but amazing, give 'Riviera Paradise' a listen.
It was a awesome concert. And Carter, Clapton isn't afraid of anyone except the good Lord himself.
just by the look on stevie,s face he is makeing love to his guitar , i bet he could make a women very happy. he puts his heart and soul in it. love you stevie. r.i.p.
Unbelievably incredible how both of their tones just absolute fill the place.
i would KILL to have been there.
Bob Seger was in the audience
This song reminds me of the some fine days with a lot of friends enjoying these wonderful guys.
Thank you
Both great musicians..wish I could've seen this one live..wow!!!!
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome duo!!!!!

This is completely and totally AMAZING. Two of the most brilliant artists of our time on the same stage! Sincere thanks to who mever posted this.
Thankyou for sharing this video with us! You made my year! Eric dressed up like superman and the many adorable faces of Stevie Ray! My favorite one of him is at 6:58...the eyes...windows into the soul!
DEFINITLY TWO OF THE BEST EVER I AGREE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clapton and Stevie jamming together...there is a God!
Two of the four or five greats of that time. SRV, Clapton & then Albert King, BB King, Freddie King, (if alive then), Buddy Guy & Albert Collins, the GREATS of American R& B with Clapton being the "outsider" of Blues Power.... IT's stupendously GINORMOUS . . . .
If 6 people cannot appreciate these guitar's finest, they must be into (c)rap. Thanks you very much for posting! Peace to you all.
These two are so awsome together you have Eric , so smooth.....; Stevie so intense..., both have passion and soul..... .
thanks for posting -hard to believe we have had 20 years this year without Stevie :(
this same tour this year was when i had went to biloxi to see eric clapton and stevie ray. stevie ray died right before that. eric played the whole concert himself. it still makes me sad to remember that even today.
Dammit! Got all excited when I saw the moving audience, thought I was going to be able to see Stevie playing :( talk about blue balls
Dont feel bad Max. I thought they were going to trade verses.
More like blue ernie balls
What a gem! Thanks so much for posting this.
