    Still rocks and with a lot of energy!!! I have never heard a cleaner and more concise guitarist than Eric Clapton. Surprisingly, he has out lived all of the other guitar legends of his time; therefore it is arguably said, "Clapton is guitar God". I could not attend this concert due to work, but I listened to 70's Clapton instead. Thanks for the posted video from a jealous fan. Keep Rockin' !!! See you in September !!!

    I was there - GREAT show!!! Clapton is simply amazing - on a different level from everyone else. But, Gary Moore Jr. is an incredible, young talent. He was blistering on that GIbson during his 30 min warm-up act. And, who doesn't love Jimmy Vaughn and his Texas twang blues! Highlight of my year thus far!

    Look at Gary's sideways glance in the first solo, when he quotes Clapton's own IV-chord lick from the Unplugged "Before You Accuse Me" right back at him. That takes talent and guts. It's nice to know he grew up listening to the same records I did. I think Eric recognized it too!
    That's the thing people forget-when people say they've heard all Clapton's licks before, it's because 5,000 guitarists over the last 40 years learned half of what they know from him. It's hard to hear him with fresh ears today and remember that he really was an innovator in his own right, not just a white dude copying off Buddy Guy. Sooner or later the Survivor's Curse will set in and we'll hear him age in ways giants Hendrix never did. But he was and is a guitar master in ways people forget.

    • @coffeewaldo
      @coffeewaldo 7 лет назад +4

      Luke Maynard you're correct. That's where I "borrowed most of my licks from EC. Just one song carries so many great licks. String them together, make them yours and there u go. FYI just listened to 9 hrs of his autobiography. Really good book.

    Been into EC my entire life. Got into Jimmie Vaughn when the album 'Family Style' came out with his brother SRV who was my idol at the time. I recently discovered Gary Clark Jr. during the early pandemic lockdowns/shutdowns in 2020. Now somehow RUclips's algorithm pushed this upon me. Usually I fear the algorithm... usually.

    Two guys from Texas and no stops in Austin. Not buying it. Easy enough to stop in our great city. Doyle Bramhall is here as well. And for the record. Bobby Whitlock who sounds amazing and plays as good as ever is also a local. He plays at the Saxon Pub. Playing on 3/25 if you're interested. How about just getting yourself down here Eric and doing the guy finally a solid. Respect but how about some for Texas and Bobby.

    The Clapton signature Stratocaster is easily the highest output guitar in the world. At its most powerful level it has 50 times higher output than a Gibson Les Paul. In its weakest position it has 11 times higher output than a Gibson Les Paul.

      Jimmie Vaugh did for sure have a rough time on stage with two guitarists way outta his league. He's there of one reason, and that's respect for SRV. Just my opinion. Btw, Gary Clark Junior nailed it as well, and that was easy to read at EC's smilin' face. Luv n blues from Denmark

    • @Matt_Lanzer_13
      @Matt_Lanzer_13 6 лет назад +5

      actually, Stevie always said that Jimmie was the better player. Jimmie's older stuff with the Thunderbirds is great. Unfortunately, after Stevie died, he swore to never outplay his brother, because he didn't want him to be forgotten. He rarely plays to his full potential anymore but when he does... hot damn he can play.

    I'm planning to sell my tickets for his last concert, Sept 8th at MSG. It's a day before my birthday but since Ringo is going on tour I would rather see him then see Eric. Did Eric give a good show and what songs did he play? Layla is my favorite and I would be very disappointed if he didn't perform it.
