As a massive Sabbath/stoner rock/doom fan this video is right up my alley! As with everything about stoner/doom it’s totally out of step with the contemporary world so this challenge of buying a doom rig from new seems way harder than it would be buying secondhand 😂 Oz absolutely smashed it! Hearing Sleep and Electric Wizard riffs on Andertons TV is a real treat!
It's people like Lee who embrace what the younger generation can offer to the electric guitar. And he let's them be themselves while they explore their identity, both on the instrument and in life His enthusiasm is real. He sets the tone. And sets it right.
A) this music is fifty years old and, B) he looked as though he was listening to nails being dragged across a blackboard whilst having root canal work done _sans_ anesthetic.
Absolutely AWESOME video. This is to me, what Andertons should be doing, showing all these different styles and players and showing different rigs and approach to guitar and guitar sounds. Pete, Bea, D I G I T A L John, Captain, Dave with Cici, now Oz, Sasha if possible. Awesome. Now I want to see Oz choosing rig for unlimited money and what will it sounds like
Oz’s s playing and the crazy tones was a joy to the ears and had no idea Doom was a thing. Really enjoyed this episode and would love to see more music styles on the channel.
Insane video, glad the years of dooming out with oz have paid off, blown away at how close that sounded too sleep, definitely need more doom content!!!!!!
I don't really listen to stoner/doom but as I am familiar with the genre I would still say that Oz nailed it, definitely captured that great Matt Pike/Sleep and even Kyuss-era Josh Homme vibes
I love it. Totally different and some tones that lots of us aren’t often seeking or even listening to. Thanks Oz and crew for taking us down a different road!
That's the attitude more of you should have. I believe open minded boomers could actually bring interesting things by diving into genres that came after their time.
I bloody love doom and Oz is such a inspiration to me, love seeing him on Anderton's. Next video should be a mid budget and then a unlimited budget 🙂. 3 part series!
I think it would be great if you picked a random customer in the store to choose their live rig for under £1000, it would be interesting as to what they pick
That Bugera's a beast. I use it blended with a DSL. The main tone is the DSL, but the Bugera fills it out to make the little Marshall combo sound like a 100 watt head, and I spend the first ten minutes of playing just being impressed by the first chord I hit....
Oh Baby Geesus it is crazy good videos like this one that put Andertons TV at the very top of the electric guitar-Tube heap! Well done gents and I would love to see Lee and Pete play some of Oz's music!
I don't play in a doom band but I use Hizumitas for lead & rhythm on metal stuff. I run it into a solid state JC120/77 & tubed Orange Dark Terror & you could absolutely do stoner/doom with it. With tons of gain on tap, you dont have a wall of amps to lug around ...by yo' damn self. So great to hear Oz. Something other than the SAME blue licks, shreddhead sweep picking arpeggios and/or pious church sus 4 chords that pervade YT gtr channels.
Follow up: I can’t stop watching this video. The look on Lee’s face as Oz starts in on the delay pedal is fantastic. More power to Andertons for leaning out of their comfort zones and making some genuinely ugly but glorious sounds.
Oooh really like the green SG with P90's, really cool, shows off! Impressed to hear junior Bugera stealing the show here actually.. sounds very nice 👍🏻👍🏻
I think these are my favorite Anderson vids. It's like reliving my endless dilemma. So much better than saying - well, all these options are great and we suggest you try them all and find what works for you.
Oh boy, that was a fantastic episode. I love that there was a good amount of choice available and that he didn't just go to the next digital modelling amp just because "it can do it". Really enjoyed this one 😃
Just had a quick listen to some oz and kryds. Like what I’m hearing, I’ll give it a proper listen tomorrow but you should definitely get oz to do some punk/harcore stuff. Not all guitarists are into John mayor. I’d never even heard of him till I started watching RUclips guitar videos!
I have no idea what I just listened to, but I stuck it out because there seemed to be a tangible objective. To me It all sounded like a low budget student sci-fi movie. Then when Oz pulled on the sg and kicked in the ‘76 with the little Bugera- I really got it and realised that the SG sounded great with any of the pedals. Clearly committed to the genre Oz should be put in charge of all tone mangling, sonic soundscape making vids in future. And wardrobe, definitely wardrobe. Well done.
As far as doom bands not using solid state, two of the bigger ones I can think of use primarily solid state. Eyehategod uses solid state Randall heads I believe and I remember from the Melvin's rig rundown Buzz says he uses solid state amps (most notably Sunn Beta Lead). I know they're technically sludge, but that's basically a subgenre of doom.
Red Fang uses beta leads as well. Since they are basically all falling apart these days, Hilbish makes a pretty faithful clone. I'll never part with my pb-10
Yes, you right. Red fang using sunn beta lead as well as SS orange super crush, Sunn O))) using Sunn. Crowbar was in Randall family with ss rg100 amp as well.
This was such a great watch! Love doom and this was alot of fun, great concept for doom on a budget. Bring on more of these videos. Should do one at the more expensive end of the spectrum.
Well, I've been learning guitar since 1987 and this is the first time I've encountered this style of guitar music. I can really see why the word "Doom" is used to describe it. I think it's kinda cool.
For those that don't know the line 6 helix products now contain a suite of doom specific amps and pedals. You can literally get a Sunn Model T paired with a rat pedal and get the exact same tone as the doom bands you listen to. Line 6 helix HX stomp for £449, Guitar for anywhere from £200 to £550 if you want. If you go for a cheap guitar you could even spend £150 on an FRFR speaker or studio monitors for the HX stomp if you dont own a PC already.
Haven't tried the fuzzes on Helix yet. I heard getting a digital one right is pretty hard. But I'm no fuzz expert, what do you think about the quality of the fuzzes on the Helix? Helix Native is also an option for the laptop musicians among us, recently got it for 200 dollars (50% off)
@Gordon Beck I'm a huge helix evangelist - it's the best musical tool I've spent money on and I think every serious guitarist should have one. That said I think the fuzz units on the helix are it's weakest feature. You can get by using one but if you have the option to have a legit fuzz unit in front of the helix you'll have better results.
@@SocialistFish do you know whether it's possible to to do a send and return to a different plugin inside a Helix Native signal chain? If so I could use one of the NeuralDSP fuzzes, they're pretty good imho
My trusty Sunn Alpha 112 can pull off this sound in spades. I have had that thing forever and it has that classic 60's - 70's early fuzz grittiness needed for just such an occasion.
Killer tones. I'd love to hear the Orange and the V22 together, as i think the darkness of the Orange would blend super well with the raw punchiness of the Bugera.
"Here are all my amp needs." "Okay so how about we ignore what you need and you get this Orange that I need to sell more of?" "Yes, mister Anderton, sir."
It was fun to watch someone else try to describe doom to someone new to the genre. Always a struggle to nail it down in words. Like "let me just show you".
Finally some good tones and riffs on Andertons tv :D Dopesmoker & Dopethrone hell yeah, and was there a bongzilla riff at the end. Maybe Lee needs to do somekind of psa about drug use soon...
I don't know why, but watching Lee's face as Oz blasts through some Dopesmoker riffs is really hitting a sweet spot for me.
Petition for Lee to interview Matt Pike
😂😂😂 I was dying like that is the face of a man praying this isn’t the direction his daughters go with guitar 😂
31:40 was the best reaction, just looking at the camera for mercy
He’s like wtf is this piece of shit
SAME. THAT STANK FACE IS WHY WE DOOM. ALL HAIL THE LORDS OF DOOM IOMMI AND PIKE. DROP OUT OF LIFE!
As a massive Sabbath/stoner rock/doom fan this video is right up my alley!
As with everything about stoner/doom it’s totally out of step with the contemporary world so this challenge of buying a doom rig from new seems way harder than it would be buying secondhand 😂

Check out high reeper!!

ok
Doom is far from new.
A) this music is fifty years old and,
B) he looked as though he was listening to nails being dragged across a blackboard whilst having root canal work done _sans_ anesthetic.
not really...these tones are far from original
@@lastbestplace8112 nobody said otherwise
you guys should really hire some better truck drivers since they keep crashing into musicians
They just bribe the instrumentalists with gear so they don’t sue them or file insurance claims 😂
It’s all the signs around the area “Your Gig Shortcut” just above the “This way to Andertons” signs.
The fact that you're basically choosing two rigs with different price assignments makes these videos so much more interesting!
Right? Each time they have to make a decision we all want to know, "what if you chose the other one?" This two rig format was awesome.
Loved this
Oz was a delight - he needs more airtime. He really came out of his shell as the video went on 🙂
Luckily for Oz, after this whole video, he only missed the first song of his doom gig.
Unfortunately, it also was the last song.
hahahahaahahahahahahahahaha only doom folks would get this
😂😂😂😂
Awesome stuff, excellent work Oz, you did the genre proud, never thought I'd hear "Jerusalem" on Andersons TV!
*dopesmoker
Absolutely AWESOME video. This is to me, what Andertons should be doing, showing all these different styles and players and showing different rigs and approach to guitar and guitar sounds.
Pete, Bea, D I G I T A L John, Captain, Dave with Cici, now Oz, Sasha if possible. Awesome.

They should have a by busting the bank edition also to all of these videos.
👑🦋🖤📌📌🐦
👽🤰💍🤥
Khruangbin 💪😎👍
Oz chooses a blues rig.
I love Lee’s face throughout all the playing scenes.
It’s like “I don’t know what the fuck this noise is”. 😂
The fact that when Oz said "Black Sabbath" the noise o-meter went to 6.66 is haunting.
I noticed that too! I guess the devil won’t accept that Black Sabbath is a Christian band!
Edited
Oz’s s playing and the crazy tones was a joy to the ears and had no idea Doom was a thing. Really enjoyed this episode and would love to see more music styles on the channel.
Insane video, glad the years of dooming out with oz have paid off, blown away at how close that sounded too sleep, definitely need more doom content!!!!!!
Nice vid. A post rock genre rig would be great to see. Cheers
They'll have to film it next to the pedal cabinet
I don't really listen to stoner/doom but as I am familiar with the genre I would still say that Oz nailed it, definitely captured that great Matt Pike/Sleep and even Kyuss-era Josh Homme vibes
Can confirm a Sunn O))) gig is a life-changing experience.
Ok Oz is awesome! Put him in more often!
Great choices and nice to see some lesser seen gear.
I love it. Totally different and some tones that lots of us aren’t often seeking or even listening to. Thanks Oz and crew for taking us down a different road!
This was awesome. More Oz playing more Doom please.
I'm 59 and I was ready to whip out my Boomer glasses and give this a pass. I'm glad I didn't, this was fun and Oz showed how cool Doom can be. Thanks!
That's the attitude more of you should have. I believe open minded boomers could actually bring interesting things by diving into genres that came after their time.
Lol BOOMERS CREATED THIS GENRE you've got it so backwards my friend! This isn't anything new- just you hearing it is ❤️ everything old is new again!
Lmao my dad is 60 and he's IN a drone/doom band.
@@laynefullerwhat’s his band called?
I will listen to anyone’s perspective on building a rig, if they show genuine knowledge and a well-founded POV.
THIS IS THE VIDEO IVE BEEN BEGGING FOR! THANK YOU!
Loving this series! I like seeing all the other workers and what they enjoy
Love that you guys are giving Doom some love.
More doom, more maximum fun.
Oz is the best guy in the crew.
That might have been the most fun I've had watching a RUclips video, thanks!
the look on Lees face is the best part lol. Good for you!!!
I bloody love doom and Oz is such a inspiration to me, love seeing him on Anderton's. Next video should be a mid budget and then a unlimited budget 🙂. 3 part series!
So lovely of you man, thank you so much!!!💕💕
17:15 this whole interaction about the Hizumitas pedal is hilarious. Cracked up so hard when the Captain said, “His-and-Hers-mitas hmmm?”
I think it would be great if you picked a random customer in the store to choose their live rig for under £1000, it would be interesting as to what they pick
I honestly thought this was gonna be a cringey watered down version of doom, but praise the Oz! That was some beautiful grueling noise.
That Bugera's a beast. I use it blended with a DSL. The main tone is the DSL, but the Bugera fills it out to make the little Marshall combo sound like a 100 watt head, and I spend the first ten minutes of playing just being impressed by the first chord I hit....

This is one of my favorite vids on the channel. Loving the Epiphone. It looks and sounds like the dogs danglys. Nice work Oz and Mr Anderton.
Follow up: I can’t stop watching this video. The look on Lee’s face as Oz starts in on the delay pedal is fantastic. More power to Andertons for leaning out of their comfort zones and making some genuinely ugly but glorious sounds.
I rewatch this video a lot just for Oz’s dooom tones.
he! same here, He should do more doom stuff
Oooh really like the green SG with P90's, really cool, shows off! Impressed to hear junior Bugera stealing the show here actually.. sounds very nice 👍🏻👍🏻
Lee's reactions and faces are the best part of this video!
Loved this. So many cool tones - almost Soundgarden Badmotorfinger era
Heavy Sabbath influences on early Soundgarden. 🤘
@@OrbitalDeathRay their cover of into the void is one of the best 🤘
Great video. Loved that walls of sound.

Awesome, hope to see more Riff Rock content like this!
this channel needs more Oz and more metal \m/
From the states. We need more of this. No tone matching amp plugins, just plug and play. Cheers.
Oz choosing a rig BY BUSTING THE BANK has to happen now!!!
Oz ! Thanks for reminding me music, any music is for FUN !
Party on and pursue an education even if part time! Love you all !
Does it chug ????!!!!!
Couldn't agree more!💕 Thanks for watching!!
who would have thought, a doomy sound on Andertons! nice vid !

Yay, finally a Hawkwind reference (they were so missing from the 70s tone video)

This was such a great watch! Love doom and this was alot of fun, great concept for doom on a budget. Bring on more of these videos. Should do one at the more expensive end of the spectrum.
The best kind of videos. Thank you.
One of my favourite episodes guys, great job 👍😎🍻
Oz turning on the 76 near the end, that’s what I want a fuzz to do, make that face
What a great video! Loved watching Oz get lost in his sick doom riffs.
Solid state bass amps are also a great budget doom option
I was scrolling to find this comment. Going to push that bass and take all the dirt pedals
At 40:00 when he stomps the SolidGold Fuzz he does the perfect impression of that Elmo worshipping satan GIF.
My first tube amp for my doom band was a bugera v55 head. Served me so well and got some awesome cleans and dirty tones out of it
well bloody hell, this was amazingly brilliant wasnt it
I have enjoyed every vid that Oz has been in
I have that sg and its a beast! Ive never been a doom kinda guy but i enjoyed watching the video non the less.
Loved this video so very much. The 22 was the clear winner today.
He definitely didn't miss the gig. As it's doom metal he'll make it in time for the first verse of the first song
Well, I've been learning guitar since 1987 and this is the first time I've encountered this style of guitar music. I can really see why the word "Doom" is used to describe it. I think it's kinda cool.
And with that, the Anderson’s doom sub channel was born!
I'm in a doom band, and I would definitely play a purple guitar. Also, the Triangle Big Muff Pi is a great fuzz that everyone seems to pass over
Doom metal is probably the only music genre that you can play with a Korean lawn mower.
Or you can blow a kazoo into a box fan and mic it up.

GodDAMN that part with the delay at 47:07 mixed with the thick chords is amazing.
get weird guys... the videos keep getting better and better and Oz is awesome
Cheers from 🇦🇺. Really enjoyed this🤘🤙
I really enjoyed the reverb on that Bugera V22 when I had one.
The Hazumitas into the Orange is 😍😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤩
Some love for Doom ! So happy to follow this video. I like My Dying Bride, Esoteric and Shape of Despair. Thank you Anderton's ❤️🤘🤘
This was a good, refreshing episode.
that orange solid state amp sounds nasty, i love it
27:20 sounds so close to the record holy shit
Absolutely! It's spot on.
Nice work Oz!!
Loved this one. We need more Oz, he is awesome!
Really fun to get some musical variety. This series is great

I'm jealous 😉
Killer tones. I'd love to hear the Orange and the V22 together, as i think the darkness of the Orange would blend super well with the raw punchiness of the Bugera.
totally with you
I thought so too. The two amps together would work well as they seem to have different frequencies that they occupy.

I am ready
I would certainly pair a brighter and darker amp like that!
"Here are all my amp needs." "Okay so how about we ignore what you need and you get this Orange that I need to sell more of?" "Yes, mister Anderton, sir."
Been looking forward to this one!!
I have to say the star of the show is that little Bugera. I was really surprised how great that sounded even in comparison to the bigger 55 watt.
i'd play bass for oz if i wasnt in scotland. tone is on point, absolute beastly fuzz choices and a banger overall
I think this video just unintentionally sold me on getting a Bugera V22...goddamn that just has the full weight and depth to it...
