- Delta 1987, N974DL, takes to the early morning skies on its final departure out of Connecticut on June 2, 2020 to Atlanta. Delta plans to retire the MD-88/90 fleet earlier than planned as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 149-seat MD-88 was previously set to retire by the end of 2020. As of February this year, prior to the coronavirus-driven fleet reduction, there were 47 MD-88s and 29 MD-90s operating. Both aircraft operated across much of Delta’s domestic network and have been workhorses for the airline.

Dear McDonnell-Douglas, thank you for your wonderful service... We will cherish the moments you have gifted us in your many years of history. Reach for the skies!
Glad I found this video. I was on this flight and it was definitely a bit emotional. Thank you for the upload!
RIP to the Maddogs 🙏
I was thinking of taking this flight! I wish I could have gotten a chance to fly on this iconic plane.
Sad to see these workhorses go, great shot!
Dc9s are probably the noisest & most effective planes I've seen as a kid growing up.give the plane a salute when u see it again.
Very nice, glad you got up there, great view coming down 24
*NOOOOOOO* my childhood is officially gone :(
well they were good while they lasted, at least they have a second life with Charter/Immigration Airlines
PsychicRailfanner many childhood planes for me have disappeared. The dash 8, and the md88, and more
Dad: Why are you crying so damm loud
Do you know if it got a water cannon salute before takeoff?
I didn’t see any water cannon salute during its taxi before takeoff. 🙁
I was there, sad time
Damn
That is why I no longer hear that noise over my house. Will miss the roar
Will this one get preserved at all? How did the name Maddog come about?
Not sure, but most likely they will be scrapped for parts. And that’s a great question-I read things online about it and they’ve said things relating to a wine produced by Morgan David Co, to just its initials!
@@DeltaAirtran thanks.
Sad day.
wait a minute..this says Delta's Md-88 Last Departure from (BDL), but in another video it says Delta's Last departure from (CMH)..so which is it???!!
The last departure from bradley, from CMH, that was the last EVER delta md88 flight

Omari Joseph what? They made more than one MD-88. Every airport that the aircraft served saw a "final" flight. This was BDL's. CMH had their own. As did ATL, LGA, DAB, etc.
