I've flown this airplane in a sim, several times. I must admit though, hearing all the servos and powered parts working in a cockpit is just a music for ears and it's uncomparable with real life experience! Thank you for this well made video!
As opposed to sitting in a passenger seat right next to the intake of one of them, and you can hear every ball and roller bearing in the engine buzzing away. Some at high rpm’s, some medium, some lower, like a symphony of jet engine music, candy for an enthusiast’s ear.
Love, absolutely love the MD-80 line. Beautiful, traditional looking planes with a longer more narrow body. Reminiscent of a different time in aviation history. What a spectacular looking aircraft. I also love how they handle on simulations.
Great memories came up seeing this video. Had then honour to fly this plane for 20 years. She was a real pilot‘s aircraft. Thanks for sharing this vid. !!
DC-9s and MD-80s were great. I flew on those planes many times as a passenger. That was with USAir and American. I have never seen planes climb as steeply as these did. On take off, I thought I was on the space shuttle! 😂😂 I happen to know CPH quite well. Fantastic video. Thank you!!
I visited and flew in one of the last MD full-flight simulators. I had been flying the MD in Microsoft FSX before. The instructor put me right to Kai Tak and let me handfly (by the FD) for the Checkerboard landing, which I made nicely.
My Top 4 Favorite Airplanes! ✈️🛩 1. Antonov An-225 Mriya 2. Lockheed C-5 Galaxy 3. Boeing 747-8 4. Airbus A380 My 5th Favorite is the: McDonnell Douglas MD-80
I am so happy...as a kid I had the opportunity to fly all these planes..MD80, DC10 and Fokker 100, 737,747, 767, 777. The 767 was a monster. The takeoff speed was out of this world. I later read that the early versions of the MD80 had too small wings. An engineering error
Flew on the MD83 Back in 1993 and I was amazed at how steep the take off angle was. Does anybody know if there was a derivative called MD83a because I'm sure that our brochure said so.
great job capt s on your take off i have a big heart for the md 80 but i am a l-1011 man i spent a few days on that old girl thats was when times were great 70s 80s
The nose lights are part of the landing lights and they go off automatically with gear retraction. The Landing lights on each wing are immediately retracted because they cause unwanted drag on climb.
@@actionjackson8439 I knew the wing lights can cause enough drag to make the difference of 100-200 ft/min, but figured they were to stay on for the SOP of keeping landing lights on under 10000ft
You don't need them that much for IFR departure. Some VFR aircraft use landing lights (when they are LED) in a pattern to be more visible, however in IFR it doesn't really matter during take-off.
What a legendary beautiful aircraft. I never had thr chance to fly with them, but still they are one of my favourite design.

Amazing how the Mad Dog roars when you’re standing outside but in the cockpit, you can’t even hear the engines

Some pilots called it, "The Long Beach Sewer Pipe"

These are awesome. I’m a nervous flyer and it really helps to see what goes on behind the scenes
One of the most interesting cockpits.
love copenhagen airport, would also love to have this as a plane spotted for my plane spotting videos
Classic design, i love it❤
Nice video clip and the Cockpit really looked good with the lights shining at the instruments !! U guys have a Safe flight and good luck 2 !! 😊😊
What a lovely video as always! Love the MD80, one of my favorites

Amazing video, great wide angle, beautiful filming technique. Those POV shifts give it a very nice “feel there” look. Keep it up!

Thats real flying
probably the quietist cockpit of any commercial airliner ever!
Thats what happens when you have you engines 5 miles behind the aircraft XD
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing!!
I sat in the cockpit in schiphok they have a md 80 cabin standing there realy cool
Great video!
Love it

Brings back the memories from Bournemouth :) Great work guys! Greetings from NL!
@Louise 22 y.o - check my vidéó unfortunately not.. As a matter of fact, DAT retired its last MD80 today.

There is! Great plane.
they always felt smoother in flight.
I miss the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 SERIES. It was my favorite aircraft to fly, wasn’t the best for convenience and comfort for the passengers

@@ErrorUsingFunctionDifferent airlines have different SOPs and I don’t know if EASA has the requirement of landing lights on until 10 000 feet
What is your camera? It has good dynamic range
The MD 83 is a classic plane, love the take off, almost like Starwars haha
Why he turned off landing lights immediately after takeoff?

What airline is that?
T/O run begins @3:22 if anyone wants to cut right to it.
I've found the cabins in those to be very quiet.
They are until you get to the back
I love te MD80
Excuse me, is this Md Dee still active?
Yes it is. It’s been flying with DAT, for while, and hopefully it will a long time onwards!:))
Lovely Mad Dog!!
verygood
The last of the dinosaurs ...mad dog. They should be fully restored and upgraded to fly for years to come. :(
Quiet take off
Quiet aircraft cause the engines are at the back.
👍👍

Fun fact: I’ve met the owner of DAT 🫢
