I love it! Nothing like looking out of the window of a jetliner and seeing the raindrops outside! Sleeping weather as long as it is isn't too turbulent! Wrapped in a nice warm blanket and hope they have the heaters on!
I love engine noise, too, but go for the view with wing flaps visible while seeing good view of what's below and outside. Aircraft like the MD-88 were amazing since you get the engine noise on full blast because the engines are mounted behind where everyone sits. You don't get that on aircraft with engines mounted on wings (while you're sitting behind the engines towards the aft), but that's the tradeoff. Aviation geeks and lovers, unite!
I would agree, but you would have to be a madman to say that after hearing a GE90 on 107% thrust Edit: Here’s an example I found 2:20 in ruclips.net/video/C5dIrEYmqPI/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/yQJcNzcnqi8/видео.html
I have flown on this type sooo many times. I love that sound just in front of the engine. I had passes for awhile on AA and up in first class the sound is so quiet in comparison. I must’ve been sitting close to where you’re sitting, but on American at least 15 times taking the redeye from phoenix to Dallas. I’ve flown on these all over the country as well..
You and me both! When I flew with American Eagle, I also had those flight passes. I’d take day trips on MD-80’s all of the time. I did the same thing when I worked at Delta
My 1st flight was a DC-9 on a rainy day, as it spooled up for take off I got too see the rain from outside the cowling reverse direction and head into the engine, I was amazed..
God I miss those -9’s, man.. the DC-9 was and still is my all time favorite airplane along with the 727’s & MD-80’s. Anything that has JT8D’s strapped to the tail is my favorite. Any type of airplane that had the JT8D’s gave you a fun flight every time!
@@jonahair747 The DC-9 and subsequent MD-8X series were among the safest airplanes ever built, no computers to interpret you control inputs and because it was controlled with cables it could fly without any hydraulic boost.
I remember when I was younger, smelling the jet fuel pouring out of those DC-9’s & 727’s! I miss those days so much. Aviation is nothing like it used to be and it is depressing
Insta-luv for this channel…he (she?) takes the time to ‘like’ comments…even writes back = Pure Class, imo, and really great to see! I just shared this on my FB…& subscribed…and can’t wait to check out your other vid’s in the days ahead. Thank You for this one (a GEM!)…& me too loves the golden oldies etc.!😛😎😁
I really appreciate you saying that, thank you! I’m really happy you found this channel. I film nothing but the classics, the “newest” airplanes you’ll find on here are 717’s and 757/767’s. So be expecting frequent videos of more classics to come! Anyways, welcome to the channel and enjoy the future videos!
R Diaz I agree these engines aren’t that loud. A lot of people don’t realize these airports were built away from populated areas but as the suburbs were expanding then the people started to complain about engine “noise”. If they think that’s loud then live near a bomber base. Remember the airports were there first not the other way around.
@@keithdomin5015 Exactly. The people living in the suburbs near the airports knew what they were getting themselves into when they made the airport their new neighbor. If they can't stand the noise, those people should live elsewhere.
Yep that’s the beauty of the Pratt and Whitney JT-8. I flew a lot on 727s which had 3 of these bad boys. The 737-200 was really loud if you sat behind the wing (my favorite seat). The exhaust was a loud thundering roar. Thrust reversers were even louder! Gosh I miss those.
The sound of those engines.
MD88Pilot Yes
Nothing beats a Pratt and Whitney JT-8!!!
I love it! Nothing like looking out of the window of a jetliner and seeing the raindrops outside! Sleeping weather as long as it is isn't too turbulent! Wrapped in a nice warm blanket and hope they have the heaters on!
Man, who decided the cabin needed to be quiet on newer planes? I wanna hear those engines roaring.
You couldn’t of said it any better, I 100% agree with you. The new aviation that is out today is an embarrassment to what it used to be. I hate it.
@@jonahair747 me too, it’s only a rare chance to hear engine buzz from any newer jet engines nowadays
Well, only 1% of passengers actually want to hear engine noises. Flying is mostly all about comfort and safe travelling, not for pleasing the "nerds"

-so cool
-told you man!
Haha awesome to see people enjoying the Maddog so much!
From 3:00 to 3:06 is the best Maddog sound ever.
Who doesn't love a pair of JT-8's singing in chorus!
Older Planes > Newer Planes Engine Sound

Love the sound of the engines when getting ready to roll down the runway.
Same here!
Best seat in the house. And, you gotta love a plane w/no engines on the wings!
Devonne West, no engines...oh my God, hows it flying?
@@sanddabz5635 The engines are on the tail...
Jon Pilot, actually they're mounted to the fuselage at the rear.....
I was being funny/sarcastic in my 1st reply~
Best Sound of the the Maddog.
These & the 757s are the best planes in the fleet ☺️
Wow, the synchronized sound of those JT8D's @ 3:09.........MUSIC!
Those engines, crystal clear buzz!!!
Great vid 👍 MD-80 forever!
This Is Why This Plane Is My Favorite Aircraft In The Skies!
One of the best if not the best MD88 videos out there! I miss taking these from LGA-FLL. Everything's quiet now.. No fun.
Love those Mad Dogs. Great video of this workhorse climbing out in rainy weather.
Another beautiful video my friend!
Thank you brother!!

What a noise! 😍
i love ur love for science, if you were saying whati thought you said was awesome, the entire flying experience is nothing short of amazing.
I haven’t flew on the MD88 for a long time. My last time I flew from FLL to CVG in 2012.

2:48 long live the queens.
Very nice, those engine's rock
Man I wish I had a chance to fly these mad dogs!
It was one hell of an airplane, but the DC-9 was even better!
Ok, why does that FedEx DC-10/MD-11 plane give me FedEx 80 flashbacks😭
Wonderful take off. Great sound.
el hermoso sonido de un MD
Oh my, that sound. Nothing like the Mad Dog.
love the mad dog 80
Looooooooove that sound!!!!!!!
This vid is especially great because you go by a FedEx MD-11 at 2:51!
Even better, it was a DC-10 instead of a MD-11
This is nite nite engine sounds makes you want to sleep rocka bye baby lol
The only thing better than the sound of those engines is the smell of jet fuel. Yeah, I said it.

Nice sound on the machine
very nice video..
You're a pro man keep up all the hard work and make some more plane video soon

2:45 Two Boeing 747-400s (now retired) can be seen.
to me that type of engine sound is like a man humming.
I love flying via RUclips just not in real life
Long live the Maddog and the 727's.
Flying one of this in july
And we have an aircraft that uses leaf blower engines
Delta_508 LOL so true
Music to the ears!
SO TRUE HATE IT TOO BORING
Kenapa....hujan. ?
WOW!!! THE ENGINE SOUNDS NOISY COMPARED AS OTHER AIRCRAFTS
IT DEPENDS!!!

MMMM
The plane begins to throttle up at 2:07
Yes, as soon as the aircraft landing on the parallel runway touches down, near 1:56.
