graycloud057 There was a maintenance issue on short final. Not sure what exactly but the captain came on the PA and said there was a minor issue with the airplane and had to go around
Jonahair747. Ok thanks. He may have said that but....He either wasn’t lined up on the ILS for the runway, or there was another aircraft on the runway. Happy landings.
When I was deplaning, there were a few of maintenance guys onboard in the cockpit and the pilots were standing out in the jet bridge letting them do their work. I thought the same thing too until I was getting off and saw mx up there
Nice! Had similar experience sitting in similar spot on the airplane on a go around at a Denver thunderstorm back at old Stapleton airport. Beautiful sound!
AWESOME!!! and you have a great seat, with great view of that beautiful, short, and clean wing. Miss the mad-dog, you're so lucky! Thanks for sharing this. Epic.
Fantastic! One of the better vids on here. Thanks for sharing. I miss those old engines. Flying is way to quiet and boring now days. Used to love fliying in the 1970s on thise Southern Airways DC 9 -30 s. So loud and noizy, your ears hurt!
I was passenger on a go around once .. Southwest 737 dodging a November tornado trying to land at CMH ... it didn't sound like those babies .. why I always sit in back of those MD's :)
Mega power, I liked. Great, I remember earlier., same 727-100 , DC-9 all series short before landing. Still better, going in to the and out the clouds. The best here is the sound.
Wow!! So did you ever get any explanation as to why the go around? A lot of cool sounding throttle adjustments. I'm sure you got the eventual Landing of this flight as well.
When I was young, I flew on countless 727’s.. shame on me for not taking photos or video! Although, I have also flown countless DC-9’s as well. I have a lot of videos of those on this channel 🤙
Blite 5 no that's wing vortices produced by the flaps and wings. Fuel dump comes out of the very tips. Plus MD-88s eat up lots of fuel so it's always good to keep a good amount, unless of course you're overweight. Plus fuel dumps don't happen on final approaches
@@chrisreisinger4935 You’re right about the vortices, but wrong on the rest. First off the MD80 isn’t capable of dumping fuel, and second, on aircraft that can dump fuel, it definitely doesn’t come out of the wingtip. That’s a strobe and position light there. On most a/c the fuel dump is further in closer to the actual tanks.
2:41 that is the sound of an aviation enthusiast enjoying the aural pleasures of a turbofan at full power
Amen to that, you’re absolutely right
Mega power. I always love go-arounds. Pushing those turbofans to their maximum potential.
The crew avoided a runway incursion. Way to watch crew. It happens from time to time. Keep those eyes moving around and watching. Good job!

No offense, but you have no idea what happened. The poster literally told you what happened then you still come back and said what happened 🤣
YES!!! Perfect seat, perfect plane, perfect engine sounds!!!
That’s why I love go arounds. May not be fun in not so great weather, but man that sound of the engines screaming is so damn cool
That was epic when the thrust kicked in for the go around! Sweet vid 👍
Nice! Had similar experience sitting in similar spot on the airplane on a go around at a Denver thunderstorm back at old Stapleton airport. Beautiful sound!
JT8Ds got called back on stage for an encore. 🎶💪💪🎶
WELL SAID!! Amen to that brother!
02:20 "... we are landing at this time..." I bet 30 seconds later she facepalmed herself!
I bet they went around because some idiot was standing
AWESOME!!! and you have a great seat, with great view of that beautiful, short, and clean wing. Miss the mad-dog, you're so lucky! Thanks for sharing this. Epic.
Devonne West Thank you!! I’m glad you enjoyed, thank you for watching!

Long live the Mad Dog!
"You just made a lousy day GREAT" !
I was passenger on a go around once .. Southwest 737 dodging a November tornado trying to land at CMH ... it didn't sound like those babies .. why I always sit in back of those MD's :)
Engines doing what engines do!
Md88s are the best!!! That jt8d whine is orgasmic
"He mean's an eargasm" !! :- ). GREAT. G R E A T Clip !!
The FA truly jinxed it....."Ladies and Gentlemen, we are landing at this time...shortly after....Pilots execute a go around
Ain't nothing but a Maddog!
Mega power, I liked. Great, I remember earlier., same 727-100 , DC-9 all series short before landing. Still better, going in to the and out the clouds. The best here is the sound.
That sound🔥🔥
Sweet engine sound.......Awesome....
Man those things spooled up fast
I had this video running in the background and I was like.... 0_0 wtf???!!! I felt like I was being jolted up.
I was definitely thrown back into my seat when those throttles opened up all the way!! One of the best damn Maddog flights I’ve ever had!
3:30 amazing engine power cut off.Great video
Thank you! And I know, nothing beats the JT8D!
I am an old eagle aboard the MD8* family, but, boys, the narration of this G/A is simply epic! Got goosebumps!
And we're on the go!
Oh em gee!!!! That must have been sweet!
LOVE GO AROUND , LOVE MD
Boy I wish I flew on a MD-88 before they got retired just recently flew on a Boeing 717-231 N934AT last Friday.
This is FREAKING AWESOME!!@@
RT8D singing 😊
Nothing beats the sound of a JT8D at full power!
sometimes go arounds are scary when you aren't expecting them .. well in any case they're a surprise but it can get worrysome
Beautiful.
I love that noisy beast!
Interesting plane history.the beaver tail cone seen on modern jets is a md80 design.
FA: 'We are landing at this time.' Engines: 'Nah, Ima spool the f up and we goin around.'
Excelente video!! Cómo suena ese JT8D!!!
3:32 I c....med all over the keyboard :C!
AWESOME!
Wow!! So did you ever get any explanation as to why the go around? A lot of cool sounding throttle adjustments. I'm sure you got the eventual Landing of this flight as well.
It was a maintenance issue, something with the hydraulics
Flight Attendant: "Ladies and gentlemen we are landing at this time..."
Pilot: "You're not the boss of me."
Hahaha 😂
I miss the Maddog series
Great video!! Love the McDonnell Douglas DC9 family planes. Are u flying on one of American Airlines last flights?
love the mad dog 80
FA: Ladies and gentlemen please remain seated we are now landing
Pilots: nah
Hahaha!!
Wishing you had videos aboard a 707 or DC-8.
When I was young, I flew on countless 727’s.. shame on me for not taking photos or video! Although, I have also flown countless DC-9’s as well. I have a lot of videos of those on this channel 🤙
LPC blade tips breaking the speed of sound again?
Ok, you know that Delta airlines MD 88 always have flights to Charlotte CLT NC from Atlanta ATL.
They used to
like a rocket, well......
Holy shit. They were gettinbg the F outta there.
Sounds like the engines in Xplane
Love it!! Do you know why they had to go around?
robinbrannon1 we had a mx issue, I'm not sure what happened but when we landed we had a couple fire trucks follow us
so the captain never came on the P.A. to explain what happened???
If someone stands up on short final and you have gas in the tanks go around! Better than knocking them to the ground when you hit the brakes
We went around due to a maintenance issue with the hydraulics
That go around looked like the plane was escaping from a windshear or something..
DON GATO it was actually a maintenance issue. I never figured out why or what caused it but it gave me a fun ride!
03:29 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 for every planophobic an absolutely bloodfreezing one!
Delta airlines MD-88 from ATL.
Nope, from MSN
We are landing. Maybe not
Right 😂
TOGA!
What airport was this?
Sanddab Z Detroit
Well, technically in the video no airport was involved, thats if touching the airport is the defining criteria.
2 mile final, I'll take my seatbelt off and get my bags ready... and be first in line at the door. Dick.
How come he didn't pull the flaps in?Looked like full flaps.
sam mich On this approach he set flaps 28. Full flaps on a maddog is 40 degrees.
They have to wait until they reach air speeds to pull them up. Just like after takeoff.
Is that a fuel dump at 1:20
Blite 5 no that's wing vortices produced by the flaps and wings. Fuel dump comes out of the very tips. Plus MD-88s eat up lots of fuel so it's always good to keep a good amount, unless of course you're overweight. Plus fuel dumps don't happen on final approaches
Gaming Blueberry Plus the MD-80 can't dump fuel.

Too close to minimums
We went around due to a maintenance issue
Absolutely fantastic
