Note: I enjoyed a large helping of this cheese and rice dish for dinner and tested myself an hour and fifteen minutes after eating (didn't test before hand). My glucose read 117 (about 6.5 mmol). This was not bad but was a bit higher than I like. In the future I will not add the fried onion rings, and hopefully will get a better peak. Also, you may be able to leave out the canned soup, which would cut the carb count way down.
Also maybe adding some shredded chicken to the recipe might keep the spike a little lower too. Try adding crumbled pork rinds on top as well instead of the fried onion rings. This sounds like a great recipe!
Hi Brother, please be praying for me. Had to have kidney removed. At hospital now and leave soon to go home. Appreciate you and your ministry prayers for me🙏thank you❤
Hemp hearts make a wonderful breakfast cereal as well. Just soak overnight with heavy cream. Warm up in the morning and add whatever you like for oatmeal.
You can also leave out the canned soup. With the cream and mushrooms it makes its own mushroom soup. If you use heavy whipping cream in place of almond milk you cut oxalates. You can add cooked chicken in whole pieces or chopped. Dark meat is fattier, so better, and will extend the dish volume without adding carbs. The 10.5 ounce can of Campbell's soup has 2.5 servings per can and 8 grams carbs per serving. If watching oxalates just add a little chopped onion and leave off nuts. If you all do alright with canned soup I understand the nostalgia for this recipe using it. If you are very sick realize the canned soup has wheat, monosodium glutamate (MSG), and undisclosed "natural flavors". They used to regularly have sugar in this soup so I am guessing this could be a very small amount of it, for those triggered by sugar. I think for many the tremendous success of the keto diet is eliminating grains and the inflammation they might cause. Also, if you are gluten sensitive you probably already know to be vigilant of what is in processed foods like canned soup, especially creamed soups that are usually thickened with wheat flour and/ or corn starch. Growing belief that seed oils cause extreme damage, especially to eyes. Seed oils in the canned soup. However, I encourage you to keep perspective. If this recipe satisfies a need in you, the reader, and you are aware of your body's reaction, maybe test with Mike the meter afterward and count the carbs, this might be no problem for you and much better than something else you might have chosen to eat. Sometimes progress is better than perfection. I try to be mindfull of the amount of onion and tomato I use in recipes because they are a little higher carb, but so good tasting in the right place. I love Rev. Pollock's videos because they show how, for example, leaving off some of the bun is better than eating the whole hamburger bun. I think he evolved, with time, to using less carby bun substitutes, so please watch all his videos. Point, we all have to start somewhere. This sounds delicious.
Wow! Can’t wait to try this. I’d like to make both recipes meal prep. Think it it will be a great addition to my family. I ‘sneak’ as many low carb items in as I can. Thank you so much for sharing. 🤗
Thanks for all your many vidoes; I appreciate them. I don't remember - have you talked much about a Carnivore approach? The biggest benefits are: 1. It's simple (though not always 'easy') to follow, and you don't need any fancy recipes or to measure all your food intake. (e.g. the 'beef butter bacon eggs' challenge; can't get easier), 2. it's also anti-inflammatory and great for those who have food allergies or intolerances. (e.g. the 'lion diet')
Campbell's and yes I saw 8 carbs. But I'd worry more about the junk ingredients in the soup, myself. I would've liked to see how Mike the meter felt about the meals 🤔
What if you added real rice that is strained twice about 1/4 cup for 2 cups of other ingredients, I would use daikon finely minced, shredded coconut, Parmesan cheese white onions, spice it up freshly roasted peanuts, slivered almonds , green chillies, garnished with fried mustard seeds, split chicken peas, curry leaves, cilantro. It is not necessary entirely cut carbs when you so much fiber. You might be able enjoy a good portion of it every once in a while. You can substitute with quinoa, millets in the smallest possible portion for a large serving. The rest of of your meal can be zero carb or just don’t eat anything. You will still adhere to the keto requirements? Any thoughts?

The best videos you make are the ones that show things we can eat as diabetics. We all know what we can’t eat. These are helpful.

Well said, especially the mushroom soup warning. Lousy ingredients and about 20 g of carbs.
Good point. The canned soup, plus the onion rings, were the two "iffy" ingredients.
Perfectly said!
💯
Great job, looks super tasty. Thanks. God bless.
Greetings from Ethiopia. That was very useful. Thank you, Dennis.

The "wild rice" dish is intriguing. Three ingredients you wouldn't think would go together. But it works. Thank you for presenting it!
Wow! Can’t wait to try this. I’d like to make both recipes meal prep. Think it it will be a great addition to my family. I ‘sneak’ as many low carb items in as I can. Thank you so much for sharing. 🤗

Ask your wife to come up with a diabetic friendly jollof rice recipe. I'd be forever indebted.
Looking forward to trying this . What is your recipe for the Turkey stew you used in the video.....................................................Ken
Looks yummy!
It is!
I would think that the mushroom soup would add carbs. What kind of soup did you use?
Campbell's and yes I saw 8 carbs. But I'd worry more about the junk ingredients in the soup, myself.
I would've liked to see how Mike the meter felt about the meals
🤔
@@diannahaas7171 That's 8 g per serving; 2.5 servings per can = ~20 grams total carbs.
@tomkellen8318 still worried more about the junk ingredients than the carbs.
Would someone recommend an alternative to the almond slices? My husband is oxalate sensitive.
🙏🏽
Substitute grilled checken for onion rings?
I will add all the Indian spices like ginger, chilli garlic paste, some turmeric and lemon juice and garnish with fresh cilantro!
Have you checked the ingredients in the mushroom soup?
Good recipe but would be a Great recipe without the can of processed cream of mushroom soup. Any idea of a substitute ingredient?
Do hemp and flaxseed spike blood sugar?
They have so much fiber, they do not spike glucose for me. Test yourself, however.
Thanks Dennis from new Zealand sorry would not let me reply to your message

Dairy products (including cheese) contain high amounts of hormones that can increase prostate enlargement?
Be careful on serving size 8 carbs in that cream of mushroom soup
Looks good I’ll try it😊

See the top comment.
