Update: I no longer use banana peels as fertilizer/booster. During my horticulture studies I learned that the nutrient levels contained in banana peels are very low and in all cases they are not available for plant uptake. If you fertilize your Geraniums with a good quality NPK fertilizer for flowering plants (I still use the one I showed in the video) it is enough for them to grow healthy and bloom beautifully 🌸
Thank you for your video. The links is your summary is not working. Can you recommend another NPK fertilizer please?
@@tbnewhomes Hmm I just checked and they work just fine when I click them 🤔. These links redirect to Plagron website to read more about the products, it's not an online store. Check in Google if Plagron products are available in some plant shop near you? They also have "shop locator" on their website. If you can't find them then search for "organic NPK fertilizer for flowering plants" and see what you can find locally 👍
Wow! I have never seen beatufil geraniums like this....
Thank you! They are my pride 🌸
Pelargonoums are varied and many sorts exist. Not this mass produced stuff. They are as varied as dog breeds.
I love watching your videos. I will probably have to move to a retirement apartment with a small balcony. I've been a life-long gardener, so you give me such hope!
my mother was the gardener, always in an apartment balcony. She loved geraniums and always had some. She passed away over 3 years ago and along with being at home because of covid i started taking having plants more seriously. It has been quite a journey with many failures and some learning and a few successes. Geranium is right in the middle: only one plant died of the 3 i got, yet they are so tiny , not really growing. They are such survivors !!! They decided to bloom a little a couple of weeks ago which made me happy. I will take your information and at least fertilize them, which i have never done. I'm afraid of that stuff, i feel like i would kill the plants using it !!!! 😄thank you for sharing your experience and insights, such beautiful plants !!!
Hi! That's a great beginning, keep up the good work! And don't worry about failures, we all have those, that's how we learn ☺️🙌! Fertilizers are basically plant food, just like humans, plants need minerals and vitamins to grow and develop healthy. Try using liquid organic fertilizers for flowering plants weekly, these are more "slow release" nutrients so you are less likely to overfeed or burn your plants with them.
Your have the best geranium I ever saw! Bravo! They looks like peonies
Thank you ☺️
Wow..... beautiful flower my friend
My elderly lady friend liked to steal geraniums any time she sees them. She breaks off 200mm pieces and plants them. We were recently at Clint Eastwood's hotel in Carmel, California. She ''borrowed'' a few geraniums from the planter boxes in the parking area. I replanted them and they are thriving. I planted some from last year's visit in 20 liter plastic nursery buckets and they really started growing. I will plant them in my front yard. Thank you for the growing tips. And thank you Clint Eastwood.
Haha thanks for sharing that! She sounds like my kind of person 😉! Yeah they are super easy to propagate☺️🌸!
What kind of geranium is it?
Thanks
😱😱😱 Вы волшебница! Чуть сознание не потеряла от такой красоты!👍👍👍🌺🌺🌺Спасибо ютюбу, что предложил Вас в рекомендуемые. Всегда буду смотреть😊
You speak so soft , you are a flower yourself
Haha thank you 😅🌸!
Your geraniums look so healthy & the flowers are amazing, thx for your info.
Aww thanks so much! My pleasure 🥰!
Thank you for the knowledgable information on Pelargoniums it's much appreciated.
Love to see your Gereniam flowers...It is amazing
Beautiful ! Thank you !
Its nice to talk about grooming the geraniums but it is more helpful to actually see you doing each step. You are pleasant to listen to.
That's very kind of you to say! Thank you!
@@17m2garden Yes, can you give us a video showing how you prune & care for them to get them so big & bushy and so many flowers. Thanx
@@user-ox7qk2xg8n This is literally what this video is all about.

☺️🙏
Wow great
Thank you for sharing this video
I'm happy it was helpful to you ☺️!
Nice information, i like your video Love from India 🇮🇳
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I live in Southern California. I love gardening...My Geraniums get partial about 4 +/- hours/day...I have a lot of issues with Budworm...What is the best prevention for Budworms?, and also please tell/show us how much & how often you should prune your Geraniums.
If you have a pesticide free garden then there are really only two options - either hand picking (that's what I do) or products with BT (bacillus thuringiensis) which is a naturally occurring bacterium. But one thing to keep in mind - it will kill any caterpillars, including butterflies, so don't use it if you are growing plants for butterflies.
As to pruning geraniums I don't think there is a rule for it, I'm not sure if it's a thing other people do at all, I do it because in my experience it helps them grow in better shape and bloom nicely. I usually do this in early fall and cut out the thickest stems. If the plant has an odd shape after this, I trim it lightly to create a mound shape.
such beautiful plants
Thank you ☺️
how many can you plant next to each other? the least distance apart
How many plants per pot and what size pot do you recommend?
I have about 40, 5 inch plants grown from seed ready to pot up.
This was my first yr growing Geraniums from seed, seriously one of the easiest plants to grow from seed.
Yours are gorgeous ❤
Hi so you leave it out in the winter and then come spring/summer do you repot in new soil or leave it in its pot and just add fertilizer? Thank you
Hi, yes I leave them outside during winter, but if you live in a cold climate (where temperatures drop below freezing) I would recommend taking them indoors. I do not repot them at all, I only add a layer of compost and worm hummus on top of soil in Spring.
Wow they looks amazing. Did you grow these geraniums from seed?
Thank you! No I bought one of each and then propagated the rest.
Hello, I would like to ask, if the geranium worm (cacyreus marshalli) appears on your plants and how do you deal with it?
Yes, every year. I check my plants regularly and pick the larvae off by hand. There is not really any other safe way to control their population, other than perhaps Bacillus thuringiensis, but this will also harm larvae of butterflies etc. Even if my plants are badly holed by larvae of Geranium bronze butterfly in mid to late summer, they always recuperate by Autumn.
👍
Did you shake off some of the dead blooms, at the start of the video? Should I do this when I have FEW dead blooms?
Yes, pinch off faded blooms regularly to promote the formation of new flowers 🌸
These are beautiful. You said you don't deadhead them? I heard I'm should trim the dead bloom down below a bit to give it more growth. Help....
Thank you! At 1:38 I said you should remove spent blooms and dead leaves regularly if you want the plant to bloom abundantly. You can simply pinch them off by hand.
Congratulations! Please, can you tell me, what soil do you use? Thank you very much! Best regards,
Hi! Thank you! Please check description box for the info and links to the soil and fertilizers that I use (they are not affiliate)
@@17m2garden Thank you very much!
I am Sri Lankan.
I also bought that flower plant last week. It is pink and red. It has vines but they are not old enough to be planted in pots. How to plant branches?
I'm not sure I fully understand your question, do you mean how to propagate it? You can cut about 10cm pieces of stem with approximately 2-3 leaves on them and place them directly in soil, they should root in quickly. I do have that process documented on my IG.
Just wondering where do you garden at? Which zone?
I mentioned that in the video, Zone 8b 😊
Please can you show NPK fertilizer for geranium
Hi! It's Alga Bloom by Plagron, you will find the link in the description box 🌸
Hello dear, how much time my geranium will rebloom after deadheading please?
It depends on a lot of things: weather, fertilizer, sunlight... If you grow them as annual flowers, they should bloom non-stop, so when you remove spent flowers regularly, your geraniums will keep producing new ones. But older plants usually bloom in waves, with a gap of several weeks between flowering.
@@17m2garden Ohh okay. Thanks a lot. ❤
Bananas fertilizer? Thank you
It's more of a booster, you should still use NPK fertilizer for flowering plants if you want your Geraniums to grow healthy and to bloom profusely 🌸😊
How to make best soil mam??? Pls full video
I use Plagron soil mixes.

My GERANIUMS grow so tall how to make them bushy
Follow the tips I shared in this video and don't hesitate to prune your geraniums in early spring. If you keep them as perennials, they tend to develop tall, thick, almost woody branches over time, it is important to prune them to keep the geranium in a good shape and encourage it to produce fresh, young shoots. I usually prune the thickest stems to about 15 cm from the base.
Ours got rotten if they receive excess amount water..Urs and mine are not same or what😃
It's not the amount of water you give your plants in one time that causes them to rot, but how often you water them. Do not water the plants if the soil is still moist, let it dry out before watering again and they will be fine 😊🌸
That looks like colombian geranium, cause no dark spots on leaves.
why mine looks so unhealthy no flowers, and thin stems no growth
Perhaps not enough sunlight and nutrients to grow. Try following the tips I shared in this video, weekly fertilizer for flowering plants, regular watering and make sure they get at least 4h of direct sunlight during the day 👌🌸
