I plucked a quarter size cranesbill from the landscaping at my work. It was being stepped on and not growing well. Put it in my landscaping and it's growing so well. This spring I dug up all the off shoots that spread and planted in other flower beds.

Great info! I didn't know my plant was a hardy geranium. My neighbor gave it to me and called it something else, but it looks identical to what you have.

Hi Devin. I'm in zone 4a~5b. Mine just nicely finished mounding and blooming like the little one you cut. I divided mine this spring to create a horseshoe and put black petunias in the center 🤩 I believe these are called Cranesbill ''New Hampshire Purple'' but often you'll see different pics for the same name. Good ole internet lol Thanks for sharing!

My friends late partner was a qualified botanist, and the cranesbill was his favourite. My friend named his charity Geranium Trust, and we also grow hardy geraniums.

I know these grow well in Toronto, zone 4 but I'm going to plant them farther north. Hope they make it through the winter.

They’re still babies, give them time! By years 2 and 3 you’ll be blown away. They’re working on their roots right now

Can you divide the clump further? Instead of dividing in half, take the clump and separate out large taproots to create individual flowers and transplant them?

    • @plantvibrations

just ensure each portion has some roots and top growth
