No I need a lot of information. I can’t stand when they talk fast and get it over.
I absolutely adore geraniums. From the flowers to the unique smell and they have to be one of the most forgiving of plants too.
Same here get them every year they make me happy!
I love geraniums. They were my moms favorite and she is gone now and I have grown to love them more.
That's very sweet to hear. Thank you for sharing.
My "crazy plant lady" of an older daughter keeps telling me to clean up my geraniums! SO NOW I KNOW WHY! She never told me WHY! I promise I will follow this kind gentleman's instructions! THANK YOU!!!
Glad now you know why, lol.
I'm the worst gardener like, ever. Geraniums are my absolute fave ever. Consistent bloomers, so easy, so tolerant of our dull British climate. Outside, window sill, all year round. Love em.
Fantastic! Thanks for watching.
About four years ago I was given a geranium that was a little smaller than the ones in this vid. I didn't hold out much hope for the poor little thing because I am notoriously bad with plants. But I lucked into giving it the proper care, and it must be a particularly hardy one 'cause it's still going strong and in the summers it's covered with glorious bright salmon pink pompoms. It hangs outside my front door and my spirits lift every time I go in or out. Yay geraniums!
Take it inside in the Fall and winter it over in a window. Keep it watered and cut it back if you like and then take it back out in the spring.
@@catherineshaw4937 That's exactly what I do!
Geranium originates from Africa so dry poorer soil no water splash on leaves and blooms very high heat and cleaning the mess is all what they need.I'm Mediterranean and we literally grow them like weeds just picture in your mind our glorious balconies!
I moved to UK started growing em and faced the greatest gardening battle ever all these clouds drizzles rain humidity and lack of direct sunshine 😢 😆 I'm advanced gardener I've grown em even in the Middle East easy but here in England is absolutely exhausting!
love geraniums with the deep red flowers
LOL, beatyourneighbor fertilizer. Love it! I have to get some right away, because I do want to keep my status of the best flower garden on the street. I love Geraniums. Grew up in the Alps of Switzerland , and remember all the flower boxes that adorned the chalets.
Thank you for sharing your Mothers Day with us!! Happy for your daughter and her new found treasure! Truly tickles a Mom's heart for her children to be excited about things we love too.
Absolutely love them they take everything in Perth Western Australia from hot hot summers and cooler winters. Totally agree bout wet feet I never leave my pots on saucers.
This video is about respect and love your plants
I just recently left my job as a paralegal and opened a backyard nursery down here in rockport, Texas. I purchased several annual varieties from proven winners in the plug stage and have been stressing out about my watering. I never realized how much work goes into growing product. I already made the mistake of potting the plugs with amended miracle grow :( and I didn't do a fungicide drench. I'm running on Jesus and a prayer.
There is a lot to learn but we always have to be students. We have over 100+ videos on our channel that will hopefully help you out. You will do great if keep learning.
@Beat Your Neighbor Plant Food & Fertilizer I definitely enjoy your content and have already learned alot!
@@Dcc333 that great to hear. Thank you for watching.
I LUV GARDENING!!👌 IT IS SOOO CALMING AND REWARDING YOUR EFFORTS!👍👍😊😊
How often do you fertilize them?
Thank you so much for this info. I have always thought they couldn't take a lot of heat. I knew to deadhead the leaves and spent flowers but did not know about keeping old dead leaves off the soil and not to over water. We have been having a lot of rain lately and my plants are sitting in water. I'm off to the deck to rescue them right now!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the close-ups, they really help!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching.
Great tips that I haven't heard before! Thank you!
Thank you!
We start Geraniums from cuttings. We let them go completely dry and then water. We cut them down to bare stems once a year. They live in our yard here in So Calif. They are like weeds here!
That's what we use are rooted cuttings. We love the Rocky Mountain and Patriot series.
#janisgriffin how long does it take for geraniums to grow and flower from a bare stem?
I didn’t know they grew like that. Interesting.
Great info, thank you. Geraniums used to be so easy to grow in WA Australia, now they seem to need special care.
Glad I found your channel.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
When I was a kid I was used to huge geraniums being used as shrubbery in California. I never liked them because of I picked a flower and smelled the leaves, they stank.
Now we live in AZ and they are constantly one of the most cost effective, heat tolerant & beautiful flowers we grow.
I've probably had 15 varieties. Just brought home two vining types. Love them.
They do have a particular smell.
I live in Victoria, Australia and grew up in the country. I'm 70 now so my memories go way back. There were always geraniums growing unkempt and wild in the sprawling backyards. We called them dunny plants because they grew near most backyard toilets. I hated them. Now I have many of them as I realised how beautiful they are when cared for properly and given some TLC. GREAT VIDEO!! THANKYOU.
@@kezlyn2006 thank you.
Thank you for sharing these great tips, especially the importance of 'clean up.'
Thank you!

Glad they help. Thank you for watching.
I’m encouraged that I can keep my geraniums going through July and August, thank you!
You can!
My mom and I love 💕 Geraniums, when I was a kid she taught me how a little about the care of the plant, how to do some cuttings, and repotting. I came across your channel and loved it. Brought me back some memories of what my mom had taught me years ago. Just subscribed to your channel looking forward to more videos thanks again.
Thank you!
There are some super high bred geraniums available. Take time to find some different flower shapes and colors. I have peach, coral, white, yellow, ruby. Mine last for years and are huge and live inside by a south east window. I water once a week and only fertilize in the summer month. They bloom year round. I repot into a larger pot (2 inches larger than current) about every other year. I do move the pots outside during the summer months here in Iowa.
Learned a lot, especially about too much water. Much thx
Thank you for watching!
No matter how long one's been gardening, there's still ALOT to learn! Great 'refresher' course......thanks!!!! 👍💚 💐🌹🥀🌺🌷🌸💮🏵️🌻🌼🌱🌿🪴🌵

Thanks for the sub!
Just found your videos. I have a planter in my front yard ( south facing) that gets pretty hot in the summer. I usually plant geraniums in this pot and they do well. Thanks for the info in this video and I am happy to say I already treat my geraniums as you suggest.
Thanks for watching.

Gosh so much work.. I'm in tropical Australia and just snap off a stem stick it into the soil.. No fuss.. Just water for a week or two and New plant. Happy as. Love their POP of colour amongst all my croton and cordyline and palms. I'm feeling blessed 😊
Wow!
Interesting tip. I am going to try that this year and report back on progress. Thanks Australia from waiting 'im'patiently for last frost Toronto Canada :-)
I did the same here in the States. Deadheaded the flowers on the plants when needed. My Geraniums looked great all summer and well into the fall.
I'm Australian too, don't live in the tropics but my mum had a new house, no garden and had some aunties coming to visit so she stuck geranium cuttings everywhere and they all grew! We have hot weather and Geraniums are always great,
@@mandalyn8006 excellent. They are underrated Give and give their bright colors ❤️
Absolutely excellent information. I thank you Sir.😊
Thank you!
Very informative. Thank you. Your diction is easy to understand. What is the percentage of the top three ingredients in your fertilizer? please. Thank you.
Very, very helpful!!!! Bought my first geraniums and didn’t have a clue how to care for them based on the tag that came with them. Thank you!!

Thank you.
Thank you so professional ❤
Thank you!
So glad I saw this. My pot of geraniums, after two years looking great, is looking stressed. I know there is dead leafy material on the soil, and the flowers seem to be reaching out and away from the rest of the plant with longer stems. Hope I can save it. I really enjoy it. Thanks again. 😊
Thanks for watching.
That's valuable information. I will look for information on your channel as to at what stage of blooming do you deadhead them. The blooms start looking sad at the top but still have lots of buds underneath.
😊
Ty I’ve learned a lot from your videos

Thank you learned something!
Great! Thank you.
I love geraniums and have had good luck at the beginning of growing a new potted plant but I’ve either over or under watered and dropped dead leaves and spent blooms in the pit ‼️ In other words I did everything you said NOT to do 😢 so THIS year I should do So much better ‼️💚🪴🍀Thank You Scott‼️‼️‼️💕💕💕💕
You'll do much better this year with a little more knowledge. 🙂

Clean up is a nightmare ! It’s constant ( once a week is constant for me 😛). Thanks for reiterating it.
Thanks!-very informative, I will remember to remove all debris. Would like more information fertilizing, type of fertilizer and frequency.

I have geraniums in a large pot, letting it grow wild, see how big it gets. My sister has one in a pail, that's almost 4 ft, flowers inside in the winter.
Excellent video! Would love to know how you water 💧 all those plants. Do the leaves handle getting water on them okay? Thanks!
Yes, the leaves get wet too, and its not an issue. We aren't overly careful when watering a half million flowers daily.
They can handle high heat but what about direct sunlight all day on the deck? Thank you so much for the very good info!
Yes, they can handle the sun. They get the direct sun in our greenhouses (and high heat.)
Thank you for the comments. How tall can I make them grow? And how can I cut the exessively growth geraniums?
They usually get about 12-15 inches tall.
Thank you for the Geranium info; I didn't know that too much water was a Bad thing!
I will slow the water down because I do Not want my beauties to suffer root rot.
Cheers
Thank you for watching.
I have a geranium that I’ve had for years and I always throw the dead leaves and flowers back in to the soil. She’s going strong and she’s beautiful.
We always take care to get rid of them because problems can start with disease when the leaves rot down in the soil next to the geranium.
I plan to have pitcher with holes all around the sides buried in the ground to have a way to make compost on sight
Thanks for the great advice. It’s so simple and sensible. Of course, I ran out to my garden and did just what you said 😃
Fantastic!
Thank you for this. My geraniums are not looking to good. So this helps a lot. I’d miracle grow a good fertilizer for them?
Our Beat Your Neighbor fertilizer is awesome for geraniums and can be found here: www.BeatYourNeighbor.com
I adore geraniums but they wont grow for me! Hardly any leaves. I will apply your advice and see if I can get them to thrive.
General advice as given in the video. Good soil, full sun, don't over-water and keep them clean when it comes to the foliage, stems and spent flowers.
❤❤❤❤❤geranium grond.zitten stokjes in grover..4 graniums grote bak...lepel kunstmest 12x10x 18..giga bloei stengels uit gebloemde bloemen knappen gewoon zo sterk.🥰
Would like to know how to care for geraniums when home and in a container, I know to dead head but what to do when they get leggy. Martha Washington geraniums as well. What are good friends for a container? Okay to put them in a flower bed?
I know!😊
What about fertilising, how often and method
I love geraniums I live in the desert and it is HOT here in the summer I have no problems with them in even the hottest months (yes they are in the sun) In winter (gets below freeing where I am) I do bring them into my sun room where I almost never water them (Its cool in the sun room in winter) and they still bloom! They are huge now and I will be getting more this spring Wonderful plant and I love the smell Just subscribed You provided some very helpful information Thank you!
Thank you!
Great video! I have a bank of fabulous Ivy Geraniums ( planted about 8 years ago) and they look great- but I’m always concerned about fertilizing so not to burn the roots. Should I always water deeply the day before ( like I do with my other plants) and then apply fertilizer, or can I fertilize at the same I water ( which is only occasionally)?
When fertilizing it is just like you are watering, except it has feed in the water.
This is my first year growing geraniums from seeds. Mine are about the size you showed. I’m in a warmer climate so I moved mine outside already. We just had rain and have rain in the forecast every day for the next 7 days. Should I bring them in to avoid damp feet for so many days? I have a grow rack they can go on. I may or may not have had 100% germination on 40 seeds. 😊 l’ll be gifting many to friends. Thank you!
Yes, watch the watering with the babies.

Wish you talked about large potted Geraniums. I have trouble keeping them blooming all summer. Therefore, I shy away from them.
Great video! I love geraniums. I'm doing something right, but can do much better!
Thanks for watching!
I press down on the stems of faded flowers to get them to snap off.
Never thought I would watch a video on how to care for my geraniums. If we clean it up, will the flowers come back? Newbie here 😅
They will keep re-blooming. Just make sure to keep feeding them all summer with Beat Your Neighbor fertilizer.
Damn ive been over watering, hoping i havent done to much harm. Thanks for passing on your knowledge
Glad you are learning, thanks for watching.
Geraniums are super easy to grow from seed. I have Maverick orange.
We use all rooted cuttings of the Rocky Mountain or Patriot series. We love them.
50 in of rain a year. I'm done. I kept trying and they didn't die, but never looked great after the first couple of weeks
hi just found your youtube about geraniums.
In socal we grew them so easily but have since moved up north where it is cooler and I don’t notice them anywhere . so is it possible to grow them in a cooler climb it ? they also help keep stinging bugs away . :)
Yes, we grow them in Northern WI and they turn out beautifully.
When should the flower be picked off if blossom has half good and half bad
Thank you. Can I trim my geranium back? The stems are growing too long and heavy with flowers, heading out towards the lawn.
Yes, you can.
