1st time watching , loved the video ! Thanks, , you make it look easy 😉 👍 👌 😀 😎
@@saragrant3981great information!
(((( IT WORKED ))))) 3 weeks on and the cutting is still alive ......WHOOOPPPEEEEE .. Lol . Cheers for the vid
That's great news! 👍🏻
Someone ought to call these Nanna plants I learned to love them from my Nan too……lolololol
Yea why not :D
I had no idea it was this simple and after buying geraniums year after year, I just wonder how much money I could have saved. Thank you.
Your welcome. My great nan's conservatory was full of jars of geranium cuttings. I don't think she ever bought one!
Thank you. Just bought my 7 year old grandson a geranium and he is now ready to grow his own.
Thanks! That's great!
I love the valuable information, but also the calm voice and music! I’m in! Thank you 🙏
Thank you very much 👍🏻
Excellent video! Finally someone who shows the whole process and explains things properly. For all beginners: it’s worth mentioning that loads of plants can be propagated this way, not just geraniums… Really, anything with stems and leaf nodes, you can give a try and see what happens!
Thanks. Yes that is a good point 👍🏻
the whole process???
I just tried this with my "Big Red" geranium. It is warm here in Australia so it should be OK.🙂
Yes it should work well there I think. 👍🏻
Thumbs up for your Nan and your great Nan!
Yep 👍🏻
Excellent - straight to the point, no waffling, easy to follow way to propogate your geraniums! Thanks, Phill!
Cheers your welcome!
Perfect. This was exactly what I was looking for and you did an excellent presentation. Thank you!
Thanks! 👍🏻
I agree, I came to find just how to take a cutting and there he was! Very informative
@@christinetookey5637 thanks 👍🏻
Thanks for your informative and visually instructive offering! Lovely!
I remember my mom being inconsolable over not, even, being able to grow a geranium. I grow them for her. But, I live in a Mediterranean climate; no snow. I just put a brilliant red, geranium hedge on either side of the drive at the gate. The original plant was from a cutting 2 years ago. It was a planned grow for the hedge. If left alone, they'll grow tall and gangly, but trimmed way back, over and over, the line of them likes to be about 4' high and 2' 1/2 wide. Here, they root because there's water! We stick them in the ground, and Mom smiles in my heart. Wherever you live, geraniums will make you happy!
That sounds amazing having a hedge made of geraniums. I remember seeing some quite large ones in Spain. I also feel sentimental about them they remind me of my great nan. And the smell of the stems reminds me of being a kid. 🙂
I searched for over an hour and finally found this video. Answered all my questions. Most geraniums are red in our area, which I don't care for. But recently I found a violet color geranium and I grabbed it up. It was the only one in stock. So now I'm very excited to take cutting and create more of these beautiful violet colors. Thank you so much.
Thank you that's great! 👍🏻
Exactly, when I find a Geranium in a color I like, I always wish I had a whole row or a big barrel full:). Of course I love a riot of colors too - so it will be such fun not to think in terms of economy but rather of enjoying bountiful blooms in a riot of colors for free.
I’ve just watched several geranium propagation videos, and yours is the best by far. Thanks. 😊🇦🇺
Cheers Oscar 👍🏻
Thank you! Loved that you learnt this from your nan and great nan. I watched this because I just snapped the geranium that was my mum's, which she'd kept from my nan, 25 years ago... this will help me keep the process going 😊🌱
Thanks! Good luck with the cutting!
This video was easy to follow no posh soil or anything to add i will be doing this little gardening job this weekend thankyou Phill
Your welcome thank you!
Thanks for being simple and straight to the point without to much talking. Can't wait to try this.
Thanks Amy 👍🏻
So helpful. Excellent lesson. Been watching for way to keep ALL my favourite geraniums. Can I do this w/ any other prized annuals??? 🙂🙂
God no-nonsense gardening advice. Thanks!
Thank you 👍🏻
I tried this after several failed attempts at planting cuttings directly into pots and it worked! What's great about it is you know you're not wasting your time and effort because you can see the root growth already, before you pot it 😊
Great job!
I tried this a month ago and it rooted wonderfully!
Excellent 👍🏻
Well my brother, this blessed my socks off. Last year I grew some geraniums and tried to do cuttings in dirt. But now that you have schooled me, this year is going to be a lot different Praise God. Thank you and have a blessed day my brother.
Thank you very much for the positive comment and kind words!
Thank you soooo much for showing me how to use cuttings. I have several huge plants that are doing great and wanted to spread them out into other pots. Good stuff. :-)
Thanks your welcome.
Thank you for the wonderful tips. I love geraniums in my garden. I always wait when they go on sale late summer and buy a lot. Living in Canada, I tried wrapping in newspapers and leaving in the garage for winter. Every year always disappointed, 100% of them died. Last fall chose big plants, put in a pot and leave in my sun room all winter. They all survived and planted outside this summer. This year will try cuttings of my favourite colour. Wish me luck.
Thanks 👍🏻 yea they don't like to be wrapped up. The leaves need air circulation in winter and the roots don't like to be too wet.
Geraniums are from Africa area so won't survive in harsh winter's. Pelargoniums are what Phill is talking about which are winter hardy ( not same plant )
I’m impressed at how well they did, excellent 👍
Thanks Gary. My great nan's conservatory was full of jars of cuttings full of roots (all Geraniums). This method really does work.
And I’ll definitely be giving it a go 👍
I have used this method, and I want to mention it really makes a big difference if you try this late in the year! I did one starting in September, and it took ages to get the roots going!
Good point I agree with that if you are using water. If you use grit then it can work just as well going into the colder months indoors. I made a video about it: ruclips.net/video/MRBAB4-dG6M/видео.html
Thank you - 5GB really enjoyed using this in their lesson!
Thank you. Your welcome.
Absolutely fabulous! Every one of them rooted and grew just great. It did take longer to root in the initial stages in the windows even though we tried different exposures but once one root appeared it went very fast. We are doing it in every window now and hoping to get them established before winter hits. You have brought us a LOT of happiness with this video. Thank you so much. The instructions were crystal clear. Big hugs from all of us on the farm 👍.
That's great news and thank you Lorayne for taking the time to write such a positive comment. I'm glad the video was helpful. 👍🏻🙂
How long did it take to root? I've had mine in water for 2+ weeks and I see nothing. Should I give a while longer, Lorayne? New leaves are coming on and one is even budding. I see no roots.
@@keith536 The same happened with us...leaves and even a bud and no roots. Ours came in about 4 weeks and we took the buds away as soon as we saw them. Lycka till! (good luck in Swedish)
@@nainy121 OK. I'll be more patient. Thank you for responding.
@@nainy121 Found out what I was doing wrong. The cuttings I did were more of the woody/hard part of the cutting,. Not nice green stems. I cut that brown/woody part off and it started to sprout in 3 days!
Thank you that's what I was looking for on how to make some new plants out of the ones I already have
Glad I could help
I bought my first Geraniums this year and they look beautiful. Thank you for this video, it is very easy to follow and I will try to grow a new Geranium with this :)

Thanks and welcome 👍🏻
Thanks for a descriptive video. Very useful!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love Geraniums, they are a cheap but stunning flower. However the achievement of growing your own is what I want to do. Found your video.. brilliantly done. Very easy to follow for an absolute beginner like myself. So I’ve just done the cutting.. it’s in water now on my windowsill. Fingers crossed it will work for me. I love flowers but have no imagination. So if I pull this off I’ll be very proud of myself. Thank you for a fabulous video 🌸🌺🌼🌸
Thank you 👍🏻 you just need to be patient now and eventually the roots should form. My great band conservatory was full of jars of geranium cuttings she did it all the time.
Thank you Phil, very kind of you to reply. Your videos are a great help.
Your welcome thanks!

Hey Phil! Here we are on a dairy farm in northern Sweden just a few hours from the Arctic Circle and we have each taken a geranium plant and followed your instructions! So fun! We are hoping it works. Thanks for the video, very easy to follow, and wish us "lycka till" (good luck in Swedish) with our geranium propagating.
Hi Lorayne! They are quite easy to grow from cuttings and it's much cheaper too. I'm sure yours will turn out just fine no luck needed 👍🏻
How was it ؟
You can also put the branch directly in a soil, and they will grow,I learned this from my father and was doing it all the time.
