THANK YOUSO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO I know your probably not using this anymore but honestly you saved me so much hassle, I’m studying animation and I need my pen to work properly and now I can finally get back to my work again, THANK YOU!
Daniel Benson My pleasure Daniel. I know your frustration when you expect so much from an Apple device. I am glad this helped. Hopefully Apple will address this soon. Best of luck.
@@richardzicarelli3193 i did it. I had the same problem. I turned off the Zoom option, and now it is working perfectly. Thank you again for making this video 🙏😉
If anyone else is experiencing my issue: the pencil skipping even if i wasn t putting my hand on the screen, turns out the point of the pen was a liitle off, try manually screwing it back. Worked fine after.
I had this issues too and my zoom was off as well, and then I remembered about how charging some devices with an improperly grounded charger can cause the capacitive screen to glitch out. Unplugging my iPad fixed it completely, and plugging it back in to the charger (connected to my laptop) caused it to start again.
I discovered that if the Ipad is on charge when you are drawing the the pen goes mad….just unplug from power and all is good….on a side note I was using the macbook pro charger on the Ipad its possible that its to powerful…..best….
You, sir, are a life-saver! I'm a pretty tech-savvy person and own a ton of apple products. This started happening to me after I had downloaded a beta of iOS 11 and I've been fighting with it ever since. Thankfully I searched and came across your video and it worked perfectly! I will submit this feedback with Apple developers now, hopefully they can find a fix!
Barry Closser you're welcome, I'm so glad that this is been able to help so many people. Like you I was frustrated beyond belief. Hopefully Apple does something to fix this issue so that we can still use the zoom enabled function.
You are my friggin' hero right now. I had the "genius" stumped at the store yesterday. We went through about an hour of troubleshooting. Finally he sent me home to do a backup/restore as a last resort. He was thinking OS or firmware corruption problem. Tried it and no luck. The iPad Pro/Apple Pencil/Procreate workflow has totally changed how I do a lot of my work as a graphic designer. I was so discouraged to think if I wanted this working again I'd have to pony up $700 for them to swap me for a new one. Thanks!!!
Matt Hopkins .... I’m glad that this was able to solve your issue. I can’t believe that with all the people who experience this issue that Apple has not done something about it, or at the very least schooled their “geniuses” on the “zoom enabled” issue. I will say that when it works correctly... the Apple Pencil is amazing! Best of luck Matt.
Thanks a lot Richard! I can’t even express how grateful I am to you. I thought my pencil has gotten crazy. Then I thought my iPad may actually have screen issues. This video fixed that problem. Thanks a ton 😇
When I go on notability and I start writing it’ll open a little zoom box and it won’t let me write. The zoom function is switched off on my settings so I’m not sure why it’s doing that.. unless it’s the palm thing like this. Does anyone have that problem too? It’s frustrating me
kaleyjoplinRAWRR There is a small icon that looks like a magnifying glass in Notability. It is generally located at the bottom right of the Screen. If it is active , a zoom box appears and you can only write in the zoom box. To disable this, just click on the little magnifying icon to toggle it off.
kaleyjoplinRAWRR I am glad to hear your issue is resolved. Your model iPad is a really nice one. I hope you enjoy using your iPad and Apple Pencil. They are great tools. Best of luck.
I’m sorry to hear this is happening. This video was done many years ago and there have been several iPads released since then so this method may not work on newer iPads. You should consult Apple or log onto the Apple forums to see if they offer another solution.
It worked for me! Thank you so much, I had a lot of suffering with this issue last couple of days. It would never occurred to me that the reason was this zoom feature I enabled recently without your insight. Writing with Apple Pencil is vital for my work routine. Thank you so much again.
I figured this out recently as well. My ipad draws a bunch of lines throughout my document as well. Recently I realized that it was bc I was applying a lot of pressure with my palm.

Does this also work with a knock off Apple Pencil stylus?😭 cause I’ve been trying to do hand notes on my iPad but the thing is it’s not really Bluetooth connected like what the other videos show and I’ve been tryna search up how I can fix the resting palm situation when writing cause it’s uncomfortable having to adjust to nor spend a lot or using clothed jackets and hoodies just for it to operate to the iPad it’s more like a stylus that you can write and draw in any iPad surface but when I place my palm it completely stops working P.s I don’t have the Apple Pencil feature nor when I tried your method it says it’s already enabled I use a good notes app but it doesn’t have the resting palm feature like note ability or good notes so I’m just stuck here searching for a way to fix this😅
Unfortunately I don’t know if this method will work with 3rd party stylus’s I have only tested it with the original and newest Apple pencils. You may be able to find a used Apple Pencil on EBay for a lot less than a new one. I am sorry that this method did not work for you. I also know that this method does not work on all apps. Zoom was turned off but it still broken. Please advise. (My Apple Pencil cannot draw a continuous line when my palm is touching the screen. It breaks into a few short lines instead.)
This video was made back when the first iPad Pro and Apple Pencil was introduced and worked well for that version of iOS and 1st Gen iPad Pro. Since then many new versions of iOS have come out along with newer iPads and Apple Pencils. I would check to see if you have any other conflicting apps that might be causing the issue, I would also do a reboot of your iPad , Also check the Apple support sight for this issue to see if someone else is having the issue and if they were able to resolve it. In the worse case, if none of that worked, You might have to d a total reset AFTER backing up your data.
That is hard to say what might be causing it. Here are some things to try: Make sure your running the latest iOS version. Try your pencil on someone else’s iPad and try their pencil on yours to isolate whether it is the pencil or the iPad. If you are using a screen protector on your iPad, make sure it is a glass one. Check to make sure no other features are turned on in Accessibility portion of setup that could affect the function of the Apple Pencil The best best is to turn off any settings one by one and test the pencil. Test different apps like iOS Notes and any other writing app you may be using to see if the problem is isolated to just one software app or not. Unpair and repair the Apple Pencil. Do a reboot and Lastly if all else fails you can try backing up your data and doing a complete reset of iOS back to a new fresh version. Sometimes this will fix any bugs.
Just brought my new Apple pencil today so was eager to start using it in advance of my Paperlike screen protector being delivered. Was concerned that I would need to head back to the shop for a new pencil as the Ipad reboot made no difference. Thanks again :-)
Maricar So This video was made three years ago, it was the first version of the Apple Pencil. I am not sure if This would work on the newer Apple Pencil.

@@richardzicarelli3193 I fixed my issue by unplugging the power. Kinda weird.
Excellent Gordon. I am glad you were able to solve the issue.
@@GordonLoJ hi mine is doing the same things as you, wdym by unplugging the power?
@@ganzayaenkhbold9950 Disconnect the charging cable.
If your zoom is already off un-pair and re-pair your pencil
Just another RUclips account Thanks for the additional tip.
what about breaking lines and glitching even when my zoom is off!
That is hard to say what might be causing it. Here are some things to try:
Make sure your running the latest iOS version.
Richard Zicarelli thank you sooo much :) I will try all these tips and hopefully this problem will be solved. I appreciate your help!
@@abdulrahmanbasalama7378 juat try removing your ipad case and you issue will be resolved

Danilo Romero ....You’re welcome, I’m glad it was able to help you.
Thanks Richard, fantastic. This worked for me. Why don't Apple know this stuff? So weird.
Keith McLean your welcome.. I am glad it helped. I don’t know why Apple doesn’t know or even react to all the people that have had this issue.
Just brought my new Apple pencil today so was eager to start using it in advance of my Paperlike screen protector being delivered. Was concerned that I would need to head back to the shop for a new pencil as the Ipad reboot made no difference. Thanks again :-)
Keith McLean My pleasure
Hi. What version of an apple pencil is this?
Maricar So This video was made three years ago, it was the first version of the Apple Pencil. I am not sure if This would work on the newer Apple Pencil.
I love you so much right now
