First things first....London ki Lalli seems to know a lot about Indian food. Cheers to that. Secondly, the decor & food looks awesome. Definitely on my bucket list on my next trip. Mishti Doi is a classical yogurt from Bengal made from jaggery prepared from dates. Lastly, the video was much enjoyed. Waiting for more like this.

I have not been to Colonel Saab but all the food looked delicious. I make misti dhoi with Greek yoghurt (not traditional), evaporated milk, and jaggery, and the result is not sour. It sets like cheesecake and tastes like cheesecake.

The food at C.Saab is really good, I got the same tasting menu as the girls. It's a little a bit over priced though, the tasting menu is £80, because most of the dishes served in the non veg tasting menu are actually vegetarian dishes. However I would still go back because the food is much better than Dishoom, really authentically spiced.

I’m glad you had a good experience, I agree it is a little pricey but you do get a lot of food and also the experience of being there amongst all those fascinating heirlooms is definitely worth.

Come to Kolkata and have misti dahi as much as you want... In case of sweet curd there is no jaggery used inside at all...... there is only melted sugar that makes the colour and sweetness...

What is Mishti Doi, you ask?
Ans. : " *Mishti Doi* (Bengali: মিষ্টি দই; transl. Sweet curd) is a fermented sweet doi (yogurt) originating from the Bengal region of the Indian subcontinent and common in the Indian states of *West Bengal*, Tripura, Assam's Barak Valley, and in the nation of Bangladesh. It is made with milk and sugar or jaggery. '', Googled it, source: Wikipedia.

Wow, wow, wow this place is a museum, it could take a few hours to see all the disolays and know the history or stories behind each. When you went to India, should have visited some ancient temples in Halebidu and Beluru, Karnataka, magnificently carved. Vatsala is a nice name. Suggest not to share food with used spoons, to avoid acquiring viruses and bacteria from saliva. Epstein Barr virus is just one example.

Mishti doi is thickened milk yogurt . The colour comes from caramelised sugar.
