    We can’t believe we made it and really can’t believe this part of the journey is over. Thank you for letting us into this world and whether you loved us or if we drove you crazy with our analysis or opinions, we are appreciative and LOVE you all. This show legitimately changed our life for the better. Like we mentioned in the video we will be dedicating a day of the week to GoT to keep this going all the way to the premier to Season 8. We are also doing a steam on Friday to talk more about the finale and season 8. See you then.

    • @SelvesteSand

      Oh how I wish Theon had been there to say it back to him before his death. Just imagine it, after Sansa has said her "all memory of you will die" speech with Theon standing next to her, Ramsay says something like "but we're all together now, wife. We'll be a big, happy family", and then Theon: "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention." and then the hounds start coming out of their cages and the conversation continues from there...

    I love how Steven instantly said "Aria can't possibly want to be Lady of Winterfell".

    • @johnnyskinwalker4095
      @johnnyskinwalker4095 5 лет назад +7

      well if this is what made Sansa turn, this is bad writing. I mean when she put him on trial, she came up with many reasons why he was on trial, why he was judged. It didn't appear like this was a spur of the moment thing.

      @roseofthegarden_ 5 лет назад +5

      +Karan Desai How is she dumb for this again? Because she decided to ask Bran what was up with Arya before deciding to strike first? Sounds pretty reasonable to me that she'd actually have the good sense to consult someone before deciding anything. Something Arya never did btw.

    • @manuelodonnell1148
      @manuelodonnell1148 5 лет назад +4

      When Baelish taught her the little game, he did say "and then I see how well it explains what they say and what they do. " But because he didn't really know Arya, he drew a different conclusion about Sansa's version about her than Sansa did. She knew that it didn't make sense, and so went to Bran to get more info. Then she played the same game with Baelish, and with a little help from Bran (She already knew about Lysa poisoning Jon Arryn and Littlefinger pushing Lysa out the Moon Door, as well as conspiring to kill Joffery and framing her by spiriting her out of the city, and killing Ser Dontos to boot.), she got what she needed to prosecute him.

    • @roseofthegarden_
      @roseofthegarden_ 5 лет назад +1

      The thing that people keep ignoring about this whole Sansa and Littlefinger thing is that Littlefinger never outright says anything to Sansa about Arya. Littlefinger's danger lies in the subtle way he pits people against each other. He plants a seed in the dark and watches it destroy from the inside out.
      When he planted the letter, Arya didn't know Littlefinger did this on his own, because he made it seem like Sansa sent for it (while he knew Arya was listening).
      He then pretended he had no idea where Arya got the letter when Sansa questioned about where she could have gotten it.
      Littlefinger literally lets both of the girls come to their own conclusions about the other. That's what makes him so dangerous. He'll make you battle with your own beliefs and turn against the one you care for, all the while pretending to be your friend. The thing is, when you watch it again it's very clear that every conclusion both girls came to, was because of their own thinking about the other.
      All Littlefinger did was plant the letter, and from there Arya formed her own conclusions and gunned for Sansa out of suspicion, and Sansa in turn, ended up being paranoid that Arya might be out to get her for thinking she was a traitor to her family.
      That's what makes Littlefinger so brilliant. He used their insecurities, their doubts against them.

      Are we sure? These characters are putting so much faith in prophecy that they are bringing them about; they are looking pretty self-fulfilling. We also heard a prophecy or two that we know to be false; for instance, Little baby Rhaego will not be the Stallion That Mounts the World. Maybe GRRM is making a point that it's not prophecy, but our choices that determine our future. If we choose to believe in prophecy, we may either act, or limit ourselves and fail to act, in ways that bring that prophecy about.
      I personally hope that the baby is born, and that he's a dwarf, and that Cersei dies in childbirth, or kills herself when she sees him.

    Regardless of your opinion of Littlefinger, he was quite possibly the greatest player of the Game. He got his start as one of the lowest lowborn noble houses and at the time of his death, he was the Lord of Harrenhal, acting Lord of the Vale, and seemingly the closest adviser to the Lady of Winterfell, with a standing clause that delivering the North back to the Crown would have him named Warden of the North. He commanded the second largest spy network and had blackmail material to boot. While Cersei commands far more brute political force than he ever has, she derived her power from her family name whilst Petyr Baelish built himself up from virtually nothing. He absolutely and unequivocally earned his execution several times over, having directly arranged or participated in the deaths of at least three major nobles, including a King. But god DAMN if he didn't make things entertaining.

    “Can I still ship them even though they’re related?”
    Nikki, this is Game of Thrones! In this world, they might as well use “Are we related?” as a pickup line!
    Seriously, though: for Targaryens, an aunt/nephew relationship is tame.
    Dany’s parents were brother and sister.
    Her grandparents were also brother and sister.
    Then there are three generations marrying outside the family, until her great(x4)-grandfather, Aegon IV (aka Aegon the Unworthy), who married his sister.
    Further back than that, the Targ’s family tree in the index of “The World of Ice and Fire” gets way too convoluted for me to parse out.

Before Aegon united Westeros as a one nation the land was at constant war between the kings. You also said that incest leads to instanity. About all Sansa-Arya plot in the last couple of episodes - Arya was trained by the most badass assassins in the whole GoT world. One of the most essential parts of her training was game of faces, which was basically skill of reading people and pretending to be someone else. Do you really think that such person could have been fulled by Littlefinger?
    If you remember few episodes back Brienne was sparing with Podrick, and she tells him “Don't go where your enemy leads you”. But Arya later does exactly that, however she is still able to be equal with or even top Brienne. And further more, this is exactly what she does with Littlefinger, goes where he leads her, letting him think that he is in control until it was to late.
    Unfortuatelly, Sansa gets to be collateral of this, as Arya is really and genuinely pushing her hard. Partly to fulfill Littlefinger’s expectations, and partly to read Sansa. All she remembers about her is that she is spoiled little child that wants to be a princes, and she wants to know if she is now trustworthy. And if you remembe game of faces, that was tough game, even heavy beating was involved. I suppose that Arya needed to be rough in order to get best results. Point when Sansa gains her trust is in her chambers, when Sansa discovers faces. In the end of that scene Arya flips the dagger and hands it over to Sansa. Like she was saying “Here, you deserve my trust, my sword is yours, use it well”.
    In some point after the scene above, meeting between the Stark siblings takes place. We do not see this, but we see that both Arya and Sansa are aware of certain events that only Bran could have known. Plus, show runners confirmed it - this scene was deleted. When Sansa sends Brienne away, I think that plan for the trial is already in place. She knows that Brienne can’t be there because, as Littlefinger noticed, she would intervene as soon as Arya is brought to the great hall. And we all enjoyed what followed :)
    This is my point of view after watching the show several times.

      I agree, and to give Sansa a bit more credit too, she clearly has been listening to LF all these years and has openly talked about how he's not to be trusted. So I think part of this too was trying to figure out how to catch LF in the act so to speak without him catching on to her catching onto him. The dumbest thing LF did was teach someone else his skills at information and manipulation. He's been teaching her for YEARS about all his secrets and never thought it'd come back on him.
      I'd actually like to do a small comparison between Sansa and Ned here to show what I mean. LF told Ned not to trust him, and Ned still did because LF helped him a few times, and ultimately LF betrayed him. Sansa on the other hand, never fully trusted LF (or at least stopped trusting him) a while back, but still pretended that she did because she still needed him.

    • @bujin1977

      My reading of it was that LF overplayed his hand when he asked Sansa "and what does she become?". Sansa knew that Arya wouldn't want to be Lady of Winterfell which made her suspicious (even though she was already suspicious of LF), so she went to see Bran. You can kind of see that in the way Sansa responds to LF's question.

      Sorry but this is bullshit. First, what training did Arya recieve in Braavos? Pretty much none; she was just brooming the floors most of the time. Yes she player the game of faces a few times, but she always failed and was maybe shown one time to somewhat succeed; this does not magically make her more clever than LF, the most clever man in Westeros with decades of experience dealing with people. Also, same argument about her going even with Brienne. She did not recieve any sword fighting lessons in Braavos; all she did was repeatedly get her ass beat in staff fighting; then she blocked the waif's staff like once and suddenly she is as good as Brienne, one of the best fighters in the world, again with decades of experience. Third, she also did not recieve any training in how to spy/use faces; she immitated Walder Frey perfectly, not only in behavior but also in voice. She should not be able to do this without any lessos. To top it all off, Arya was just max cringe this season. Many scenes the directors are just desperate to show off how strong she has become. For example see the way she handles the dagger when she recieves it. She keeps rotating it in her hand just to show off; and is dumn enough to even do that in the middle of an actual fight with Brienne. There are many many more thing to say, including how LF totally should not have died in this way; but I've written enough already.

    The conflict between Arya and Sansa was real. Right up until she said “she’d become lady of Winterfell.” I think it was then when she doubted it, knowing Arya has never wanted to be a Lady. So Sansa finally goes to Bran, and that’s when the truth comes out. But they cut that scene. The actor who plays Bran posted that on his twitter or something. Lol that’s frustrating to know. The fighting between the sisters was real up until Littlefinger trying to get Sansa to think Arya wanted to be Lady of Winterfell. That’s when Sansa went to Bran and found out about what happened and then informed Arya and they came up with the plan. Arya’s anger at her sister was real as was the threat against her sister if she was a traitor and disloyal. The scene of them in the room playing the game of faces was Arya once and for all trying to test her sister and see who she really was. Arya got her answer which is why she flipped the knife and gave it back to Sansa. Sansa was unsettled by that obviously and Littlefinger tried to cash in on that and pushing her into a certain way of thinking, he simply pushed too far to where Sansa, who already distrusted Littlefinger, was suspicious enough to go to Bran. Once Sansa went to Bran and Bran settles it all, Littlefinger was done for.
    Littlefinger’s problem was that he underestimated Sansa, the stark bond, and Bran’s powers.

    • @ciondari
      @ciondari 5 лет назад

      I think Littlefinger did everything right but there was no way he could have forseen Bran's power, that was what undid him in the end. Sansa and Arya alone were no match for his wit.

    • @antonbrakhage490
      @antonbrakhage490 5 лет назад +6

      People overrate Littlefinger's supposed brilliance. Littlefinger is good with money, ruthless, and has a nasty sort of wit. He's also arrogant, obsessive, and doesn't even really try to hide that he's an utter bastard. He likes to rub it in people's faces how he's smarter than them, even when they have the power (remember when he almost got executed by Cersei for taunting her about the incest to her face?). So I can see him being too obsessed with Sansa and the Starks to walk away when the plan goes awry, and too arrogant to realize that he can't manipulate Sansa (and Bran). Also, he basically got this far by backstabbing his way up the ladder, and when your signature move is the backstab, eventually you run out of allies, because you've burned all your bridges one way or another. That's what makes the scene so satisfying to me. Baelish finally plotted himself into a corner he couldn't plot his way out of. It was so satisfying to see that little snake impotent, all his lies falling on deaf ears. A thoroughly fitting end, which he brought on himself.

    • @davidjones5333
      @davidjones5333 5 лет назад +1

      @@antonbrakhage490 Also Littlefinger was never a major player himself at least until he inherited Harrenhal, or arguably until he took control of the Vale. Up until then the major houses viewed him as no threat because of his lowly background. He was useful to the Lannisters and even Jon Arryn, who all thought that his only chance for advancement was through them.
      When he was dealing with Sansa he was in a position of actual power. She knew that he was manipulating her in order to isolate her from her family and exercise further power in the North through her. When she realised that Bran's abilities were genuine she had the ability to find out exactly how much his machinations had harmed her and the family.

  • @terpcj
    @terpcj 5 лет назад +24

    Right now I think the biggest question mark is Tyrion. Is he truly loyal to Dany? What deal did he make with Cersei that brought her back to the Dragon Pit? The talk before about Dany's successor, as well as concocting a grand plan that lost her several allies; then the mission to the north, which was his idea, and the very quick strategy of abandoning those heroes once they were in trouble because "oh well" together all seem dubious (which is likely what we are supposed to think). Given that Tyrion's greatest gift throughout the series has been coming up with, or stumbling into, ways to keep Tyrion alive (often via key alliances)...it's hard not to have suspicions of this clever man who drinks a lot and knows things. Not that most of the rest who have survived to this point haven't been just as fortunate, but they tend to be more open books. Just imagine the promised bittersweet ending: Tyrion ends up on the iron throne, but he played the game of thrones to do it.
    Truth be told, I still think much better of him than that. For now.

      I don' t believe Tyrion did all that with the intent to "play the game" and end up on the throne. Honestly, I just think he is a shitty war strategist, and finds himself in a shitty situation caught between Dany and his family, and thus ended up making a lot of mistakes. BUT, that being said, there was definitely something going on in that meeting between him and Cersei. The fact that they cut that scene right after he figured out she was pregnant has to mean some kind of deal was made. I mean why did she come out later seemingly going along with their plan? What made her apparently change her mind? We never saw what Tyrion and she talked about later. I'm just afraid his guilt about his family is going to make him do something really stupid!
      And then that look outside Dany's cabin later. I'm just wondering what he promised to Cersei!????

      I think the Tyrion turning on Cersai theory that came out a few weeks ago makes total sense. He mad such TERRIBLE mistakes with Danys army. He has said he would never bet against his family. In WW2 the main spy that made d day successful would have to give Misinformation AND correct information (as would any spy) that’s why some of Tyrion’s plans work out ok for Dany, but mostly he seems to have helped Jamie more than Dany. He’s making up for killing their dad which left them vulnerable, to the faith, left Marcella in danger, and led to Tommens death. If Tywin were alive circumstances would have been different

    This season def deserved 10 episodes to make it better but let's focus on the good parts:
    1. Chaos is a ladder. I loved it when Bran hit Littlefinger with his own sentence. That was well done, and foreshadowed that Bran would be instrumental in bringing Littlefinger down.
    2. Arya’s meeting with Nymeria. That was our only direwolf moment. I personally believe that Arya will meet Nymeria in the books after she has amassed a near army of wolves to do her bidding. I would have kept Arya and Nymeria together as it felt right to me that Arya would now find her direwolf and go back to Winterfell as complete. The show decided to do a montage that looked like Shaggydog, Ghost, Summer and the other Stark direwolves. It was a nice touch that didn’t go anywhere.
    3. Jaime Lannister in “The Spoils of War.” He revealed himself to be a great general with the heart of a knight. I loved how he did everything he could to help his soldiers, including attacking Daenerys herself to stop Drogon. He was very lucky that Bronn grabbed him when he did, as he was about to be roasted skewers of Lannister on a lance. It was a thrilling moment in what may have been the best episode of the season.
    4. Eastwatch. The show rightly moved away from Castle Black and went to Eastwatch by the Sea. In the books, Hardhome is close to that part of the Wall, so it made sense to me that any action from the White Walkers would be near the sea. I liked that the majority of activity near the Wall took place there.
    5. Sansa as Lady of Winterfell. The show has been leading us to Sansa finally asserting her power as the best Game of Thrones player of the Starks. I enjoyed how she tricked Littlefinger, and made sure the other Stark siblings had a role in his destruction. It felt right to me that Sansa would rule at Winterfell, regardless of Jon’s position as King In The North. I feel very good about show Sansa right now.
    6. Cersei and Jaime’s final conversation. I have been waiting for Jaime to disentangle himself from Cersei’s toxic grasp since Season 3. I liked how Jaime called her bluff about killing him, then managed to get away without FrankenMountain making a scratch on his armor. That scene was interesting. FrankenMountain read Cersei’s innermost feelings the way Drogon would read those of Daenerys. Perhaps Jaime was counting on what her heart, not her mind was telling her. Cersei showed that she was putting Lannister interests above the kingdom’s and duty itself. She really thinks she can survive the Great War, even though Jaime is right: she will either be alone in facing the Army of the Dead after Jon and Daenerys fail, or both of them will remember that she did not keep her promise to help. This leaves Cersei in a precarious situation for Season 8. It will be interesting to see what happens, both with Cersei in King’s Landing and Jaime on his way to Winterfell. The show set up both of their arcs well.
    7. Ser Bronn of the Blackwater. We got plenty of Bronn this season, particularly in the latter episodes. I never grow tired of Bronn.
    8. Davos as Jon’s Hand. They are a good duo. I liked Davos as the Hand of Stannis too, but this just feels right as though Davos is a surrogate father and uncle to Jon.
    9. The Brienne/ Arya fight. That was well done. Arya showed great skill, and I am hoping to see the two of them fight together in the Great War.
    I see the show and the books as two different media for telling the story. Season 7 had lots of problems, but it is also in uncharted territory so the problems with the writing don’t surprise me. I can still appreciate what I enjoy about Game of Thrones. I am a fan of the story, so I will watch the show and read every book pertaining to all things Westeros over and over again. I’m not going anywhere.

    About the Arya and Sansa thing I believe Sansa suspected littlefinger since Bran told them he gave the dagger that was meant to kill him, Sansa even says “why he should give you that he is not a generous man” and I think the moment Sansa realise littlefinger’s intentions was when he suggests that Arya wants to be Lady of Winterfell. Sansa knows her sister better than him and she knows that Arya never wanted to be a lady! That’s the moment they go talk to Bran to set the record straight!

    • @laylacreativeworks9304

      They did a "behind the episode" where Dan and David actually explained the whole scenario. Sansa actually believed Littlefinger the whole time, he had managed to manipulate her, until that "I like to play a little game" scene. After that she started suspecting and went to Bran to ask him if he could help her. They even recorded the scene in Bran's room but decided to cut it out because it made Sansa look "weak". Which in my opinion she is if she believed Littlefinger right up until the end.

      Layla Creative Works I think after he suggenst that Arya wants to be lady of winterfell it’s when she knows his intentions because she knows her sister better than him and that she never wanted to be a lady! I think Sansa believing littlefinger it’s nothing about being weak, Arya was so annoying and wrong with everything she did and say to Sansa the whole season she doesn’t know nothing abou politics and wanted to cut everydoby’s head just because the were upset to Jon! She was the one who fell into littlefinger’s trap first! So if Sansa is weak so is Arya!

      @@carolp.5730 Sansa has been in Littlefingers trap since season 2. The crucial difference here is that Arya doesn't know Littlefinger, she never even talks to him, and even though she falls into his trap she is suspicious of him from the moment she lays eyes on him. Sansa on the other hand knows Littlefinger better than anyone. He has repeatedly manipulated her and used her, and still he manages to wrap her around his finger in the end. She knows her betrayed her father, she knows he used her to kill Jofferey and put her life at risk with that necklace, she knows he killed her aunt in cold blood, she knows he sold her to the Boltons where she was raped and abused, and STILL she starts believing him about his sister. If that's not stupidity I don't know what is.
      Also, how was Arya wrong? Yes, Arya is crude and unpolitical and makes mistakes, but she's honest. Do you really believe that Sansa doesn't want the North for herself instead of Jon?? Yes, Arya was rough to her but she did it with the intention of protecting Jons place while he was away, while Sansas concern is about her own reputation and place in the grand scheme of things. While Arya jumped to the wrong conclusions through Littlefingers manipulation, Sansa believed and confided in him over her sister. Now that's truly stupid!

    • @carolp.5730
      @carolp.5730 5 лет назад +1

      Layla Creative Works Yes, Arya was VERY wrong to accuse Sansa of not wanting Jon to return home! Sansa didn’t even wanted Jon to leave Winterfell in the first place because she was worried about him! She said to Bran “I wish Jon was here” and offers him her position since he is a guy, then she says to Arya “I hope he comes back soon” and to the Lords “Jon is our king”. Even if she thinks she should rule instead of him she will never betray him or his family. She had one conversation with littlefinger about Arya and in that same conversation she saw his intentions and went to Bran to set the record straight. She noticed something was wrong not Arya! Stop trying to make Sansa a power hungry or a stupid person because she is not!

      +Layla Creative Works
      Yes, Sansa did gain a tentative trust in Littlefinger when he saved her from King's Landing (I think that merits some form of trust). However, she had seen how he works before. How he'll turn on his own allies if a better deal comes around to get him somewhere (like how he betrayed the Lannisters for the Tyrells).
      Thing is, Sansa is the only one of the two girls who actually has several scenes where she confirms she doesn't trust Littlefinger and yet you sit here and type that Sansa "fell for Littlefinger's trap and Arya didn't." When the actual show proves you wrong. Arya fell for it. She thought she was slick, when in fact Littlefinger played her. He knew she was following him, that's why we see him smirking when she finds the letter. Arya may not know him or what he wants, but she does know how Sansa used to be, and she used this prior knowledge to form her opinions.
      Sansa meanwhile, outright told Jon "only a fool would trust Littlefinger," she told Littlefinger himself that she doesn't believe in him anymore as someone who is looking out for her, and she told Arya and Bran that "Littlefinger is not a generous man, he'd never do anything without something in return." She made is abundantly clear that her trust in Littlefinger as a true ally is non-existent at this point.
      So for you to sit here and completely disregard what she said and what canon shows you for your own argument, is ridiculous.
      Really? She didn't know Littlefinger betrayed her dad until after she spoke to Bran. She believed Littlefinger was protecting her from Lysa because she didn't piece together the benefit he'd have to kill Lysa (which she later discovers is to take power in the vale). And after he sold her to the Bolton's, she outright told him she doesn't believe in him and that if he didn't know Ramsay was a psycho then he's an idiot, and if he did know, he's her enemy.
      Again, Sansa has made it entirely clear that her trust doesn't lie in Littlefinger. However, at the same time, he is the only one she really knows, especially with Jon gone, so yes she ends up speaking to him about Arya. As much as she doesn't trust him, to immediately pin stuff on him without proof isn't smart, it's just pointing fingers around.
      Arya was wrong because she was judging Sansa off what she knew of her sister six years ago, and she was ultimately wrong in her judgement.
      Yeah, Sansa likes ruling. But she isn't a traitor. She literally was going to hand over her position as Lady of Winterfell to Bran so he can rule in Jon's stead (which he declined because he was the Raven now). If Sansa is so power hungry, why would she even offer? If Sansa is so power hungry, why didn't she just take Winterfell from Jon? After all, she knows these people will rally behind her, they just said they perhaps should have chosen her. Why didn't she take them up on their offer then?
      Because everything about Sansa being a so called traitor and power hungry is literally debunked by her own actions in the story, but folks keep ignoring that to suit their arguments. You'd rather trash Sansa than admit Arya was wrong for acting this way toward her sister. You'd rather blame shit on Sansa, than admit that she's grown as a character and is smarter than you gave her credit for.

      It doesn't make any sense at all, since Rhaegar already had a son named Aegon Targaryen with Elia Martell, that was still alive by the time that Jon was born. Rhaegar would never give the same name to two different living sons, and Lyanna would never give her baby the same name of the child Rhaegar had with his (former) wife. Just terrible writing.

    In a show full of great scenes, this was my favorite. I loved that every time they included Arya in a scene with little finger she became more and more ominous, little thing that she is. But the best part was the suddenness of the knife slash. She just walked up and flicked him off like a light switch. It was freaking fantastic! I do not think there could’ve been a better way to end little finger. Lil’ assassin Arya doing the deed with little fingers dagger.

    To be fair Steven, Dany and Jon have a huge force as well. IMO I actually think they outmatch the NK for two reasons: 1. As we saw in s7ep6, killing a white walker also kills the wights they turned. And killing the NK kills them all. So they can wipe out a huge portion of the dead one at a time by killing the white walkers. And 2. Dany has 2 dragons that can wipe out hundreds or even thousands of wights per minute. Of course the NK can throw ice spears and kill them instantly though. So idk, but it will be an interesting battle no doubt. I just don’t think the dead are unbeatable.
    All that said.. don’t expect the NK winning and taking over Westeros to happen. GRRM has already said the show ends in a “bittersweet” way. And the NK winning would just be tragic lol.

When it was Jamie's turn, the Mountain stopped him from leaving & looked at her... and she gave a nod. Also, if it hasn't been said already, the night king getting the dragon was a setup, I believe. He somehow knew everything and when Jon came north he orchestrated that whole business on the lake just to get that dragon. A little too convenient that the little scouting party left them one wight to take.
