    • @TheJungleGymReviews

      @dominickd16 interestingly enough a marathon is exactly what I will be competing in this year, so you kind of nailed it. My long term fitness goal is to be able to out sprint my kids when they are 18, even if they are Olympic athletes (this is not a joke).
      But to your point, it’s a completely fair criticism. I’m a lot of things but large and in charge, I am not.
      I would say that strength goals can mean different things to different people. If I can deadlift 405 and run a marathon in the same day, then I’m happy with that on a personal level.

I grew up a skinny soccer kid who couldn’t do a single push up, although I weighed 235LBS a few years ago from a mega-bulk (not a clean bulk, don’t recommend) and got made fun of for being fat then, even though I was super strong, so I can’t win 😂

    Good stuff man, very thorough explanation for each piece and well thought out floor plan. I used Rogue Zeus Gym Builder as a way to plan out my floor plan, you don’t seem like the type to shoot from the hip based on the first couple minutes so how did you plan it out??
    People seem to get confused when they see someone’s gym then see that someone. There’s preconceived ideas that you should be Mr. Olympia to have a nice gym but that’s not everyone’s goal. You do you, my guy. And keep making these banger vids!

    • @TheJungleGymReviews
      @TheJungleGymReviews  13 дней назад +1

      thanks so much for noticing the well thought out gym! I actually started in the Rogue gym builder too just to get an idea on how my rack and some other similar machines would fit in a space of my specific dimensions. so that was my starting point then honestly just alot of back and forth thoughts and careful measuring from there. How much space did I need for a rack, how much space did I need to be able to put plates and walk around the outside of the bar? How wide of a space do I need for my cable machine and treadmill, etc. just tons of logistical questions that changed bit by bit until I got into the final built of the garage because that by itself was a monster 4 month project to make this gym room in my garage. now it's constantly changing because of equipment reviews too, so always a fun time of machine tetris

      @TheJungleGymReviews  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you! I like it a lot, the ROM is fantastic and one of the best I have seen on any commercial version. The only downsides is the weight stack since it’s 2:1 ration it’s not that heavy and I can max it out for 10-15 reps. I’m “average strength” so big strong people would max it out pretty fast and there is no way to add a gym pin or more weight.
      Besides that I’m slightly on the taller end to use it at 6ft2 and which I had one more further back pad adjustment and one more on the leg pad length. But for the price I paid

    • @TheJungleGymReviews
      @TheJungleGymReviews  3 месяца назад

      It’s really solid. I wouldn’t pay full price but if you can find it used, is definitely a good deal. The resistance curve is even and the ROM is good. The only downside is the stack only goes up to 200LBS with no way to load further, so you have to do higher reps like 10+. I wish the knee brace padding was slightly softer but that is nit picking.
      I really want to try some of these budget selectorized versions from Bolt or Titan, etc. to compare against it.

      Thanks Tony, I appreciate the kind words. My stall mats are just held together with black gorilla tape plus they are snugly fit to the walls too, so they cant really move and haven't over the year and a half they have been there. The gorilla tape works great and I have been using that for years for stall mats with no issue.
      The mirrors are being held by what's called a J Mold, search part #805204 at Home Depot website. I have two of them size by side holding all the mirrors, very minimal but functional! Highly recommend.

    Great setup! Just curious, I'm in the market to purchase an SF3 or Rep Athena with RP-4000 rack, mainly for the functional trainer functions of the Athena. I'm mostly interested in knowing the difference in smoothness between the cable systems. Are the cables smoother on your Inspire SF3 than your Athena lat/low row? Or are the cables smoother on the Athena than the SF3?

    • @TheJungleGymReviews
      @TheJungleGymReviews  3 месяца назад

      Ah yes, this is the exact dilemma I had as well. In theory, a machine made to be a dedicated functional trainer I would expect to be smoother, as is the case with my original FTX and now the SF3.
      I had a Titan fitness dedicated lat pulldown which was garbage for smoothness compared to either Inspire one I had.
      However, the REP lat pulldown and low row, (to your point, in theory then any of their weight stack offerings) is actually pretty dang close for smoothness and is definitely comparable, and darn near equivalent. I personally wouldnt hesitate to swap the SF3 for the Athena or Ares after using the lat low row for well over a year now. It’s definitely very smooth and most people probably wouldn’t know the difference in a blind feel test between the Inspire and the Rep selectorized versions.
      So I would vote to save the floor space, again I just went with separate ones due to always having at least 2 people working out simultaneously, which is no longer the case, so I’ll probably swap to an all in one rack in the next year or so.

    • @TheJungleGymReviews
      @TheJungleGymReviews  3 месяца назад

      I definitely need to do more research on my end too. I think what will end up happening is to combine different rack attachment from different companies. For instance, keep my rack with REP lat/low row, but add REP Athena side mount FT, and a Bolt Fitness smith attachment or something to that effect. Otherwise I need to take a long look at all the offerings because I haven't seen a good options for those plus the smith yet that I can remember although I know they exist.

    • @TheJungleGymReviews
      @TheJungleGymReviews  3 месяца назад +1

      It’s funny you say that, when I first tried this bench at a friends gym, I thought the exact same thing that it was too hard. Well after years with the AB5000 I developed a pinched nerve (not due to the bench itself) in my shoulder and the softer REP bench pad seemed to be a contributing factor. Now after using the Rogue bench I have come to like the harder pad much better, and helps with my particular issue.
      I think it’s highly dependent on the individual, but I find the harder and a little bit more narrow pad actually allows my shoulders and scapula and everything to retract more freely during specific movements like benching.

      No trouble whatsoever with the horizon. I’ve had it over a year now too and put on quite a few miles.
      I would ask how many miles do you plan to put on a week? I think the motor and everything is sized appropriately for normal use a few times a week for long term. Especially if you keep up with the bare minimum of belt maintenance.
      Coincidentally enough I used to have the Assault Runner and that thing was awful as far as maintenance. I needed a new belt after like a month and the technical support was near useless at the time. The frame creaked all the time and for the price wasn’t the best.
