  • Arlo Guthrie performs "Coming Into Los Angeles" live at the Farm Aid concert in Irving, Texas on March 14, 1992. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

    Farm Aid's performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers. They've raised their voices to help - what can you do?

    I love this song. I think it sums ups the joy and weirdness of a time long ago which most of today's youth will never experience or understand..

    His original studio recording has stellar intricate acoustic guitar work, just incredible. But I love this kick ass electric guitar version also. If you love this song, listen to the original, realizing just how wonderful the original instrumentals were....but love this too!

    Hé has the oddest high nasal voice in this song & I love him. Remember this song when I was a kid of 10 at the time, (1969) had no concept of what it meant. But the lovely chorus, "flying into Los Angeles, etc." had me singing along in my child voice. Years later, hearing "Alice's Restaurant" on FM radio was a Thanksgiving tradition for listeners in the area (playing once per hour) as well as my husband and I! Bless you Arlo, and thanks! Turkey Day is coming, and I'm gonna listen to you sing, once again.

    When I was in cub scouts we took a tour of a radio station. KAPA in Raymond WA. The guy there gave us each a 45 single. I got Coming into Los Angeles with Alice's Restaurant on the flipside. I was King of the Cubs for a day! and that's why they portrayed adults as clueless in all those in all those 80s movies that came later.

    I have always loved this song. Is it just me, though, or is the pattern of drug traffic atypical with drugs coming coming from *from* London to the U.S.?

    • @glenndouglas8822
      @glenndouglas8822 11 месяцев назад

      Not at the time the song was written but now the drug trade is massive in the UK. Lads off council estates dealing directly with the Columbians, certain Irish groups also flooding the UK etc.. There are no..Mr Bigs..like in the u.s, there are lots of Mr fairly Bigs..every town, city as their own set of lads.
