Arlo doesn't just play music, never has. He is a singer/songwriter/storyteller. He needs to be experienced. He IS an experience. Storyteller Arlo is at least half the reason I go see him in person. Thank you Arlo for being a light in this world. Peace & Love.
This guy is awesome a musician with a great sense of humor too-you get two entertainments from one ticket..But he is talking about things that ring true.
arlo you are the greatest and your stories I just never get tired of them you are one of my favorite folk singer hope u have another concert soon . Your devoted fan
Just saw Arlo in Marin. He was great. Joan Baez attended his concert as well. Met Arlo, Joan, Ramlin' Jack Elliot and Wavy Gravy that day! All so cool!
I'm thinking the people who gave this a down vote never heard Alice's Restaurant Massacre, nor saw the movie...no context. He's a funny man. Thank you dearly for posting this!
Saw Arlo at Naz Arts center some years ago, he called a outside smoke break, about halfway through the show, and Arlo stopped to chill with me, and after about 20 minutes he looked surprised cause he just remembered that he had to go on stage! Lol. Arlo you are a trip!
WOW! talk about a trip down memory lane I had all his records/tapes and even today this mans music could make me laugh/cry all at the same time. Oh yeah if you can remember the 60s you were not really there. ^_^
In 1977 or 78, he played the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa. He was way better than anyone expected. I always thought he was kind of like a cross between Bob Dylan and Jerry Garcia.
I actually got a ticket for littering on thanksgiving day because the county dump was closed but the gate was open so Alices' resturaunt is sorta my song
Thank you totallycooltv. I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my cheeks... my day has just got better : ) (Not that there was anything wrong with it up to this point ...)
SO glad you make it to Oz (the Land Down Under) ... adored your 2013 concert at The Star Court Theatre, Lismore NSW ... please come again (real soon now) - Cheers (& wild applause) from tin lizzy
I remember watching a performance on PBS where he talked about Gwabby Gwabby, and Tzaina Tzaina which is a Hebrew folk song and he was brilliant with that. I also remember my younger sister laughing with us but there was no way she "knew" what he was talking about just following our laughings.
Not being a musician, I like the various arrangements performers often have of their own work. Different keys. Different instrumentation. Just for interest? Voice changing with age? Arlo is a very good musician, performer and, and, and. I once saw a show where grandson was playing lead electric guitar along with Abe keyboard.

Some people are natural storytellers...Arlo Guthrie is one of those people.
