I'm glad someone finally made a video about this. I pleaded and pleaded with my local repair shop about the issues but they didn't believe me.

Thanks bro, but I've noticed this particular model always has this problem, I've had 2 pcs like this and both gave me the same exact problem. I think it's a wide spread issue and Lenovo needs to get a look into into it

Thanks for the info, but I need a picture of the connecter cable because the one I have has some actual cables cut and I don't know where most of them go, so I need one as reference.
Thanks for the video, it was well done. Unfortunately, I have the same problem and resoldering the port caused the ThinkPad to make a song with error code 0001 while booting if the hard drive cable is plugged in. I was careful but these connectors are so small that a human error can occur while trying to repair. I just gave up on it and removed the hard drive caddy.
For those with the same problem, the good news is you can still use another SSD in the WWAN port. You'll have to get a M.2 SATA SSD 2242.
I'd like to temporary fix the issue using the M.2 Sata. Any suggestion about how to copy my Windows on that SSD? I really don't know where to start from:I magine I need to use a working laptop to do that. And than, what?
check the Sata fuses near the connector, normally either 3.3v or 5v is blown after this effing chinOVO problem

So flux seems to make things pretty easy. If I get some good flux and a small enough tip... Am I pretty safe doing this soldering job myself?

on my LENOVO the keyboard was broken after about 4 month, no problem, they changed it in an LENOVO Store but since there was a shortcut somewhere, sometimes when connecting the LAN or the HDMI the monitor or internet just went OFF :/ ... i didnt go there imidiately since i need my computer every day. Now a year later i opened it and the connector between the HDD 500 Gig and the Computer is lose and disconnected. hope i can find a new one and they can repair it again. Cheers from Thailand, i am not very confident in the skills of the people here repairing, made my experiences in the past

My T570 is having issue with ssd. It is not detected always. Sometime windows crash. I thought the issue exist in cable. good this video pop up.
This was another big disappointment to the supposed top tier quality Thinkpad brand, especially seeing that the P51s/T570 is an otherwise wonderful work laptop.

Bro, i have 2102 detection error on storage device, thats the problem? The cable on the adapter, or you have another wy to solve it?
My T570 is currently in repair shop because of this. Guy that works there knew as soon as i said T570 drive not working. He said that he soldered dozens of those conectors on Thinkpads 😅
Exactly that was my issue. Now I don’t know if I should get an m.2 SATA SSD or should I find someone to do micro soldiering on my Mainboard? Can I even do it myself? I just have Standard Soldiering equipment an d 0 to no skills 😅
Literally happended to me yesterday. Only work around for me was that i had a 42mm m.2 sata ssd. Plugged that into the WWAN port and my P51s now boots windows 10 from that. Still miss the extra space i had with two drives though. Can i send mine in to get the connector fixed? Awesome vid by the way!

Unfortunately, it's a known and widespread issue across Lenovo T570/P51s/T580/P52s models up to 05.2018. Also happened to my T580.
My work has many T580s and P52s and a bunch of them are having drive issues. I even had one connector just pop off inside the case. It's infuriating.

Bought a 570 on Ebay sans HDD, and the ENTIRE hdd connector was ripped off the motherboard

Yes still a problem with the Lenovo laptops, causes all types of problems when you think it's the HDD only to discover it's not the hdd but the connector, Lenovo are well aware of this problem but refuse to acknowledge this, real pity as the laptop are nice and light, but, unfortunately i did not do my homework on this one otherwise i would have steered well clear.
