    Very nice, detailed video until the last part where it ended kind of abruptly. Good information overall. Thanks!

    Just came across this vid about to change my coolant. Dude, the draining coolant looks insane! Think it's called laminar flow, there is almost no movement. Looks like it's frozen 😂

      Hell yeah I do. I've got the Vette chilling in my sister's garage all winter down in Jefferson County. I have my Camaro staying the winter at the parent's house down in JeffCo. Only the BMW and Crown Vic are up here in the citaye. I'm going down to JeffCo tomorrow to try and buy a semi-auto AR-style shotgun. That should get me through the winter just in case the fellas get restless this season and are up to their usual argy bargy.

      @@catfishjenkem2226 I went to Alpha Omega in Festus. I bought the Citadel Boss 25. A semi-automatic magazine-fed (AR-15 style) 12 gauge shotgun. It comes with 4-chokes, 2-five round mags and I bought 2-ten round mags. Capable of 3 inch magnum shells, but I believe I fired all those years ago so I only have 2 and 3/4" shells left.
      I don't think I have any 00 buck shot left either. I gave it all to my dad a while back when he bought a new shotty, so I have only game loads left at the moment. Though I used my department issued shotgun at the range and to dispatch deer respectively back in the day, I'm generally less knowledgeable about shotguns compared to handguns and rifles.
      What would you recommend for more home defense loads? I'm thinking "no choke" and half my mags loaded with slugs and the other half with 00 buck. Or maybe my house is to long and I should go half choke and run 00 buck only?
      My house is not very wide (25 feet at the widest) but it is very long (about 72 feet from front door to back door). It's also three stories tall with 12 foot high ceilings for first two floors. House is shaped kinda like a cracker box or cinder block if you had three boxes or blocks stacked on top of each other.
      What would you load if you had to face a gang of fellas anywhere between 50 plus feet and just a few?

      @@HollywoodHornet I buy my shotgun shells at mid America arms ,but you can get them all over . I have double 00 nd the expensive shells with 00 and a slug combined . 3 of my shootguns r the short ones 4 home protection ,1 of them holds 8 rounds .. I have always wanted the 25 round drum ,but I cant justify it . I have too many firearms ,elec trains ,and generators lol . Back in the day I rewired MANY of those houses like yours .

  • @mikebenz86

    I check my coolant it was dry on the plastic stick but my car does not over heat should I add coolant what you think ?

    • @HollywoodHornet
      @HollywoodHornet  3 года назад +4

      I would add coolant. When the coolant in the radiator/block & heads expands, the expansion overflows into that reservoir. When it contracts after cooling off, the suction pulls the excess from the reservoir back into the radiator/block & heads.
      If you have no reading on the dipstick at any temperature, you are low. If you have no leaks, you are probably naturally losing some through the radator cap venting excess pressure.
      When the coolant is cold, the dipstick should be at the cold mark. If the coolant is hot, the dipstick level should reflect that.

    • @mikebenz86
      @mikebenz86 3 года назад +1

      @@HollywoodHornet thank you brother,do I add it to where I check the plastic dipstick or do I add it to the radiator and also should I use 50/50 mix the green color ?

    • @HollywoodHornet
      @HollywoodHornet  3 года назад +7

      @@mikebenz86 if you are just topping off, might as well use the 50/50 mix. If you are doing a complete change of coolant, get 1 gallon of concentrate and 1 gallon of distilled water and combine them yourself to get the most bang for your buck.
      Completely fill the radiator first. Once the level reaches the top hose that runs to the reservoir, add the necessary amount to the reservoir to top off. Top off to cold level if engine is cold. Be sure to check level later after engine is warm to make sure the level has now risen to the hot mark.
      If the coolant is already green, then top off with the same coolant. If the cooling system already contains the orange Dex Cool (as it should) continue to use that. Do not mix the different coolants. Just top off with whatever is already in the cooling system. Combining coolants can cause a reaction.
      Some reactions include making a causting agent that erodes and corrodes the cooling system. Other reactions could coagulate the coolant and turn it into a gel-like substance that prevents proper cooling and clogs the cooling passages.

    Did you burp the system? I didn't see that at all in the video.

  • @estevan_dude

    Looking for a quick fix if twisting the petcock counterclockwise will not open the flow of the coolant. Tried it clockwise as well and still nothing (yes I left open the radiator cap to allow air flow) really not trying to take it into a shop to get it fixed.

    • @HollywoodHornet
      @HollywoodHornet  3 года назад +1

      Petcock is turned to the left. There's a small friction lock type bump that keeps it from loosening itself off from vibration. Use a pliers or channel lock to break the friction lock. Once it breaks loose you can use your hands.

      This happened to me and it ended up being that I wasn’t turning enough. About 1 and a half full turns, comes out further than you think but I’d stop once you have a steady stream.

  • @chrisschriver6964

    So what's your video doesn't explain is what happens when you get are stuck in your. Such as getting an air bubble behind the thermostat which can cause an overheating. Oh I change the radiator on my 2013 SS 6.2l non-supercharged automatic transmission sensors in automatic transmission if I'm not mistaken and makes it a L99 engine which probably makes no. The issue that I am facing is there's air in the system so is bubba and letting air out. Also burping up air. When I went to test-drive it on the gauge cluster it shows that my temperature is running normal it's running in about 3/8 of the gauge. Then when I go to digital mode I'm north of 208 while driving on a cold night. Each time I have come back from test driving it I'm opening my radiator cap and I'm low on dex. When I sit there with the cap open a spit and cooling out but it still bubbling almost like it has too much. I had turned the defroster/heater mood on so that it make sure that it pushes fluid through the heater core. Sometimes it's best to cooling out sometimes it burps and coolant drains out where I have to add more. Now is there a bleeder valve somewhere at a higher point to be able to bleed air out of the system. Cuz everytime I put in a detailed message on the internet it always wants to use other words that I'm typing in to go to that.

    • @laurendicker6868
      @laurendicker6868 Год назад

      run it with the cap off until the thermostat opens up, and squeeze hoses.. This should move the air out the system, you can also vacuum purge with the car off for really troubling air.

      Keep the Dex-cool in it. No need to change it out in a modern car. If It's already been swapped out, keep whatever it was swapped out with in it. Most important thing is that the coolant is phosphate and silica-free.
