Great explanation. When I have the time, I typically leave the funnel in place (loosely covered to avoid debris entry) at the end of the burping process. I remove it after the system cools. This avoids handling of the hot coolant and allows some additional coolant to be drawn into the system as it contracts. After removing the funnel with remaining cooled liquid, I then just draw some coolant out of the reservoir until it's at the proper level.

Oh yeah. If you open the radiator cap.. with any old rubber coated cotton glove, you can bleed the overflow hoses by forcing air and coolant into the passage meant for over pressure by moving the cap until it gurgles lol 😂 then it’s relatively safe once the temp drops. Even hot. I’d recommend like.. getting to thermostat temp then waiting 5-10min.

Fan motor does not need to be on high. Temperature select does need to be maxxed so max fluid flow can pass through. Having fan speed on high makes heater core act as a miniature radiator, cooling fluid and lengthening warm up time.

    • @HowToWithLech

@@macaugustine2298 if you need to replace i would suggest getting new. you can pickup new radiator for like $60-$70 online. (you dont need the all aluminum one) thermostat should be under $20 if you dont need housing with it. unless youre picking something in great condition and cheap. otherwise might not be worth it as who knows how long that one will last.

How do you draw the coolant out of the reservoir once it’s full?

  • @DocHicksTv
    @DocHicksTv 5 месяцев назад

I hope you still answer questions on this video, i was just in a accident in my other vehicle and my family is down to one car and Im needing to use this tool to get the air out the coolant system.
This is where Im confused. Was your coolant system totally empty? I was doing mine after a flush, so it was bone dry.
One confusion is I thought the temperature gauge in the car dont suppose to move at all. Ive heard that if your temperature gauge moves its still air in the system OR are you saying only through this process the temperature needle in tbe car should drop down when the thermostat opens?
After doing this the temperature needle in the car shouldn't move right?
Respectfully, you said you want to wait till you see the bubbles stop in the funnel.. as you notice the bubbles stopped once you started closing the bleeder. So do you keep letting it come out the bleeder till you stop seeing bubbles in the funnel or wait till you have a steady stream coming out the bleeder?
Did it stop showing bubbles because your reservoir was full or the best thing to do is let some more out the bleeder close it and wait till no bubbles in funnel before the reservoir gets full?
Last question, its 2 or 3 adapters I could use. The red one fits into the smaller hole in the reservoir and the metal cap fits on but the gasket falls off the red one when pulling it out.. the black adapter fits more to the top main entry of the reservoir and pushes down snug when i put the metal cap on. The yellow one i have fits like yours but I cant get the metal cap to twist on. Did you have a little struggle getting your metal cap on to make sure its air tight?
Sorry for so many questions, this is the best video explaining how to use this tool. There youtube channel instructions are horrible.

hi. I had to change hose and thermoastat so most of coolant was gone yes. once all replaced, I filled with coolant etc, and started to the burping the air out process. its not end of the world if you don't do it. but do the bleeder valve at least if have one. but its good to do it, to get rid of the air pockets in the hoses etc. as to the kit, as long as you can mount it, so coolant don't leak out when you have it filled you are fine. little drip you should be fine. they say adapters are for all makes but who knows. if bubbles mostly gone you should have most air gone. maybe 10 min or so for the process . or whatever I mentioned in the video. I hope this help. best of luck.

    1. You must wear gloves when touching coolant
    2. Bleeding and that extra gadget BIG funnel is not necessary if you do the following: pour slowly; squeeze the hoses; push acceleration repeatedly for 2min while running the engine and top off coolant; turn the car but not the engine on max heat but on low, run the car in inspection mode. You spilled all that coolant. You must wash that off as coolant can destroy things.

Some cars have a valve for coolant flow to the heater core energized by turning on the heat but if it were my car I would remove that valve so coolant flows 100% of the time keeping the lines and the core clean. Just some thoughts.

lol it won’t explode.. check the pressure in hoses. I just.. ie now… ran a v8 Holden to 92c and the hoses had little pressure. Since it has a massive reservoir, I just burp it using its own system lolz. If a vacuum is pulled it sucks it in. If more than 140kpa, blow off. Bleed the blow off hose. Imagine sucking in air lol you’re supposed to go through a full cycle of cooldown so when vacuum is pulled it gets fluid. Anyway I opened the radiator periodically even at full 92c running temp. Thermostat runs from 86-92. I definitely agree you shouldn’t touch it unless you know wtf you’re doing. I also didn’t need to put heater on since I have no valve. The car constantly blends hot and cold to create air currents in car

I have a 2003 Honda Civic LX with no bleeder valve and did everything this man did and it still didn't work. What I found out later is that you leave that funnel with coolant attached after shutting off the engine. Do not plug it. Let the coolant and engine cool overnight. As the coolant in the radiator and engine gets cold it contracts creating a vacuum sucking more coolant from the funnel. If you remove the fumnel too early, you risk sucking in air instead.

@@HowToWithLech it looked good and brand new but ya never know. Im going to get the other the coolant sending unit. Next time i get paid. Yesterday in Michigan it was about 55° so i took advantage to work on the truck. Today now is 31° and its was raining all day but now its almost 4:00 pm and its raining hail. We supposed to get a lot of snow tomorrow friday. Between the cold weather, crapy weather and having the funds has been a pain in the rear to get things done outside. Unfortunately i have no garage . any how my truck is not over heating . I know the activator to go from cold to hot is not working on the heater. So i tried to cut a whole to move the door on it to put it so i can get heat but the door seems spring loaded and just goes back. Seems the top radiator hose has air in it at least it feels like it. I put a new thermostat on too. The heater hoses barely feel warm going into the heater core. I even manually moved the heater activator if that's what its called and checked vacuum . I tried burping the coolant system and still got air in the lines. The only thing i seen to do is to loosen the heater core hose to see if i can get the extra air pockets out the top hose ? Its been a pain in the rear trying to fig this out. Like i said its not over heating . so i bought a car heater offline its coming saturday . Hopefully it'll de-ice the windows and get truck warm enough. You got any ideas ? Mine is a 98 ford ranger 3.0 .
