Forget the distilled water flush, just drain, add Dexcool and drive. After running heater and driving, drain again and add more dexcool. In this way you don't have to do any math or take any risks. And don't forget to suck out the old dexcool in the overflow then add new dexcool until the right level. Then if you want to do it again in a week go right ahead, this way you know you are getting more bad coolant out of the system and adding even more new dexcool. Oh, and don't forget to let the bubbles rise out of the radiator with cap off before putting the cap back on.
If the car has 11.4 U.S. qt total coolant, 5.7qt is coolant 5.7qt is distilled water. So if you drain the coolant and flush with distilled water till there is nothing but distilled water left in the system, after draining all you would need to do is add 5.7qt of concentrate into the system then top up with distilled water. You don't have to calculate how much water was left in the system, this guarantees that you has 50% coolant/water mix. BTW the crow was saying "should have bought concentrate". The cap, beard and glasses give you a bit of a Spielberg look. Nice video.
Did a coolant flush. After refilling and running the car around town for 10 mins. I parked and checked the radiator level, it was full. Reservoir was also mid level. My inlet and outlet hoses however were empty. Is that normal when the car is off? Cars temp did not fluctuate at all while driving.
I used a coolant tester to know exactly my mix. First did my flush, then the in two day (making sure to mixed the water and concentrate well) tested my coolant and added concentrated coolant or distilled water accordingly.
Are you not worried about the radiator flush cleaner left in the system? I did it your way, but since we didnt drain it completely, I'm little worried that the small amount of flush cleaner is stuck in the system forever. Really hope it won't cause any leaks.
Did you start the car to try and get the rest of the fluid out when you emptied the car from the fluid that was something Chris fix said you could do to try and make sure you got it all out
Sooo the coolent goes in the radiator? I feel so stupid..i've been adding water to the tube that has the plastic thing to measure your coolent levels....
Me to so do we add coolant to the tube with plastic thing or radiator my car keep ruining hot and I check coolant and it’s some in there. I have gotten new water pump and thermostat
The math at the end 😅. I looked at it as just using the entire gallon of concentrate and then using 3/4 of the gallon distilled jug instead of pouring all of it. Probably not the right math either lol. It's about time I flush mine too
I mean as long as it doesnt freeze this winter you did something right lol! We should both probably get the coolant tester gadget its only 4 bucks and check the dilution lol
How about draining the block ? there would be 2 drain bolts 1 on each side. i have the same issue with my buick rendezvous and i am thinking about draining the block.
@@MoochLife Hello again ! Soooooo i went and asked at the radiator shop about how to drain more then just the radiator. i thought he would have some fancy machine.. Turns out he told me i can do it on my own right next to his shop. he told me to wait until the pressure on the radiator gows down and i can open the cap. then unplug the radiator drain. when it stops flowing - !!! turn on the engine !!! pay attention now cuz your running the engine with low to no coolant. doing that made the pump suck up coolant in the block and the radiator drain is STILL open and it was draining again. watch the temperature of the engine !!! i run it for like 3 - 5 minutes. thats it. it will stop draining. close it all and fill back again. i did not messure the amout that came out. i didn't want to bother him too much. he gave me tools i needed gave me advice and would not take any money. hope this is helpful guys ...
Hello SS friend. Is it the same process on a 2015 Z/28? Is prestone coolant from walwart better than the GM dexcool? Car has never had coolant replaced. Thank you
If the radiator has a drain at the bottom you can surely drain it out. I do not know if its the same. Also dont know the total capacity. It may take more as its a bigger motor. As far as coolant brand i presume the quality is similar as long as its the right type. Ill change mine every 4 yrs or so just to be safe but that sounds like a "best coolant to put in my camaro" google and read through some forums! Enjoy that 7.0 beast!
I added the green coolant in my car and seen the dex cool was empty googled it and it says use red coolant so being I already used green in the other can I add red to the dex cool
After driving around and gets to operating temp the thermostat should open and it all mixes together so just gotta make sure the ratio is right! You can buy the coolant tester from auto parts store (which i didnt have) and check it thatll tell you if its diluted too much

Thats a great cheap tool for ensuring the mix is spot on!
Bro I don’t have a radiator cap. I have a 2017 camaro v6. Do I have to go through my cooling tank to flush my system? Thanks
How did you make sure there was no air in system? I rushed my heater core and need to make sure I'm getting all the air out.

I would think its such a meniscule amount it shouldnt cause issues. Im not concerned about it! Been a year and no issues!

Is there an over flow on the coolant reservoir? My son said that water was running out of the tank when he was topping off
I forgot, it's a 2010 6.2L ss with less than 60k miles.
To the left of the rad its a black cap with a plastic dipstick attached

coolant has higher boiling temps. water doesnt do anything but freeze
Do you have to pour any inside the reservoir area
I check that weird plastic dipstick and did add a little to it!
That’s whole work 😮 there is simple way
What front splitter do you have. Please!!!!
Acs composite t4

I wouldnt mix any coolants together and would only use the recommended type for the vehicle!
Lol not laughing at you but “Carefully Dump it in here” and boom lol trying to see if i can a flush bymyself
Next time put a 3/8 hose on the drain valve to control the flow.
