Warrior returning to WWE and being inducted into the HoF is a pretty big Hell Froze over moment, after years of issues seeing Warrior one last time in a WWE ring was crazy, and what made it more iconic is he passed away the day after his last TV appearance on RAW, its as if life had given him just enough time to fix things and return one last time.
@@A-Man79 Oh I thought you meant him appearing in it, but as we've seen from this video WWE didn't care if the all the people involved in a controversy where in a DVD about it, they made one about Montreal without Bret even being in it.
A few honorable mentions: 1. Jeff Jarrett returning to WWE to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame 2. Ultimate Warrior's return to WWE 3. Scott Steiner, along with his brother Rick, get inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and is seen taking photos with Vince McMahon and HHH. 4. Randy "Macho Man" Savage kind of made amends with WWE when he appeared in a commercial for the WWE All-Stars video game.
Bret coming back to WWE is a very underrated "Hell Froze Over" moment. After the death of his brother Owen, the Montreal Screwjob, and not feeling appreciated by Vince for all he had done during his time there, there was almost no way in hell The Excellence of Execution was ever coming back to the company.
I thought it was choice that Punk opened with that quote just like Bret did. Aside from Wrestling Bios I don't think there are is any greater devotee of Bret than Punk.
Another "Hell Froze Over" moment would be Mickie James appearing in the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble while being Impact Knockouts World Champion. While the Rumble had featured talent from other promotions in the past (though the last time was back in the mid-90s), it had never featured someone who was another promotion's champion. Sure, WWE didn't seem to exactly plan for this (it was definitely more of a "we need more women for this Rumble", likely with a bit of "we also want to make good with Mickie after the whole trash bag incident"), but to see Mickie James come out on a major WWE event with the Knockouts Title around her waist, with "Hardcore Country" playing as her theme, & even getting her own unique name card (though WWE simply called her "Impact Women's Champion") was something I don't think anyone ever expected. All the way up to the event people simply assumed that Mickie would come out to her WWE theme & without the title, with commentary never acknowledging her as an Impact champion, and they were all proven wrong. Hopefully, one day, this will start to become more of a common thing in future Rumble matches.
AJ Styles making his WWE Debut at the 2016 Rumble felt like a Hell freezing over moment. This is a guy who was best known for being a TNA guy and at the time seeing him in a WWE ring was a very surreal sight. The fact that he would go on to become WWE Champion is also crazy that years before people would have been like "Not a chance". Only way you could top that imho is if say Kenny Omega unexpectedly showed up on Raw one week. AJ seemed like one of those guys you would never see in a WWE ring, and whilst we are kind of use to it now, it was almost hard to believe at the time.
Most definitely this! He came out at number 3 at the rumble and I didn’t recognize the music and when I saw who it was (cause they cut to Roman’s reaction for some reason). I legitimately lost it. My favorite TNA guy had come to WWE. I had to go back and watch all of his NJPW stuff because I didn’t know that’s where he was, and surprisingly AJ got me into NJPW even though he was no longer there lol
Steve Austin wrestling a match, for the first time in almost 20 years. Simply put, Steve Austin’s illustrious career was cut short because of the lingering neck injury, which forced him into retirement in 2003. Whilst other wrestlers made their in ring returns, Austin stayed out of wrestling. And for years, it seemed less likely we’d see him wrestle again. So you could imagine how shocking and surreal it was that in 2022, Austin would end up not only wrestling a match in almost 20 years, but a WrestleMania match in his home state of Texas.
YES!!! Hearing his music and watching him walk down to the ring made me feeling like a child again... Something we all thought would never happen again...
Eric bischoffs return for me was the biggest surprise. This is the guy who started a ratings war against Vince. Literally the competition boss to now working with the company he was facing off against. It was mind blowing to me seeing him but then I realized the power of money. It doesn’t matter what a person does in the past or what he or she says. If a lot of money is on the table it definitely makes you think about what you going to do now.
Honestly the true Hell Froze Over was when when Edge Returned in 2020 because for almost 9 years we thought edge wouldn’t wrestle again then at number 21 we heard the opening riff of mettalingus YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME & everyone went wild because the moment we all didn’t think would happen Happened
WCW closing, Austin turning heel, Eric Bischoff joining WWE, & the end of the Undertaker's streak were the most shocking moments in WWE. They will stick in my mind forever
Edge coming back at the 2020 Rumble is definitely one of those moments. I know you can't fit them all in one vid but from retirement to another run.. No one saw that coming. As a matter of fact, him jumping ship to AEW also! I thought he was a WWE guy for life. Shawn Michaels' return also. We thought I was a one off. No one knew it'd turn into a second run.
CM Punk WWE return, Cody's WWE return, Sting's WWE debut, and Bret's WWE return and making peace with Shawn was Hell Froze Over moments I got to experience.
20:30 i think Sting's bigger mistake was WHEN he came. From what i'Ve heard, WWE offered him a Wrestlemania program with UNdertaker (which, imho, would have all but guaranteed them doing their best to book the story well!) which would have happened THE SAME YEAR the Victory Road Fiasco happened. Sting should have taken that deal, maybe on a short term basis, avoided Victory Road, faced Undertaker and then, maybe returned to TNA or whatever. As it went, Sting faced Hardy, UNdertaker faced Michaels again.
As far as in-ring shocking moments besides the Undertaker finally losing at WrestleMania, there's the controversial pin by Andre on Hulk Hogan on the Main Event telecast, Jake Roberts slapping Miss Elizabeth, Randy Savage being bitten by a cobra and Kofi Kingston winning the WWE title over Daniel Bryan. There are plenty more but those I named were what I thought about.
You should do a video of Vincent Kennedy McMahon JR. On his whole career of all the wrestlers start from where they’re born all the way to present day. We could probably do it three episodes on him.
To me, Eric Bischoff was the greatest General Manager in WWE history. There were a few others that I liked, but Bischoff was just perfect for that role.
The first WWE title win of the Undertaker & a beaten Hulkster in 1991 was shocking as a kid and than the "Pipebomb" 2011 - both felt so real @ that time
I remember back in the mid 1980s my dad took my grandfather, brother and I to a local WWF corporate event/party and there were wrestlers there. We had our picture taken with some wrestlers and we were lined up like wrestlers, grandfather, wrestler, dad, wrestler, me, wrestler, brother, wrestler. I was standing next to Vince McMahon and this was still years before I knew he owned the WWF and the whole time I was thinking "If they are going to put one of the TV guys next to me I wish it was Gorilla Monsoon or Lord Alfred Hayes"
Vince not liking Eric’s business practices is pretty hypocritical of him seeing as he targeted the old territories and put them out of business with aggressive business practices 🤣
seeing The Ultimate Warrior return to wwe and his death, seeing the women of WWE getting this renewed focus on their wrestling skills after so many years of short under 10 minute matches and Triple H taking over WWE
I disagree. It was inevitable A.J. would eventually join WWE if he had half a brain. TNA was no wcw. Even in their worst days, the company had money which allowed Sting to stay all those years. TNA was a joke of a promotion. They didnt have the resources to keep AJ. All the stars left pretty much at once. Sting, Angle, A.J,. Karma or Awesome Kong, Samoa Joe and even Abyss left TNA. Sting was made man when WCW folded. He could have retired for the rest of of his life and be fine. AJ was too young and TNA never paid wcw money.
All of these are definitely shocking. The one that I remember that traumatised me as a child was when Earthquake killed Damien (Jake's snake) by sitting on it. My young mind wasn't prepared for the horror and I felt like I needed to talk to someone about it but none of my friends at school watched wrestling. I think it may still affect me...
My Hell Frozen Over moment is very of its time and of me at the age I was. I was 11 in 1985 and went to my first ever WWF match, a house show in Denver, Colorado. This was during the heyday of Hulkamania and Hulk Hogan was seen as unbeatable. At this show he wrestled Terry Funk in the main event. Through heel shenanigans by Funk, Hulk ended up outside of the ring and was unable to get back in before the 10 count, meaning he lost by DQ. Eleven year old me seeing the immortal Hulk Hogan lose, even if it wasn't by pinfall and no title changed hands, was shocking and mind blowing! I remember it clearly to this day. It was also the first time I really noticed Funk and started appreciating how great he was.
Originally I was going to pick Eric Bischoff’s RAW debut but what ruined it for me was remembering that backstage segment with Booker T. He already revealed himself and it kind of gave it away. Still a big moment tho. Undertaker losing the streak, AJ Styles coming to the WWE and Edge’s return after thinking he may never wrestle again out for 9 years to wrestle again are my Hell Frozen Over moments
If one includes a Rhodes moment, I think Dusty becoming an integral part of WWE first as a performer, later as a trainer/mentor in NXT should have been included over his Cody's return. Dusty was the face of the opposition, both as an in-ring talent and as a booker backstage. Him turning up in the then WWF and accepting that, for those who knew him from his NWA days ridiculous 'polka dots' gimmick and getting it over with younger fans like myself, is in a way an even bigger hell froze over monent!
I'm surprised you didn't include Edge returning in the 2020 Royal Rumble. That was a huge surprise! He was forced to retire in 2011 due to triple fusion neck surgery, and it had been 9 years since then.
I didn’t see the backstage reports of Sting being backstage, so when he came out on Survivor Series, me & my dad were shocked! 🤯 Sting was one of his favorites growing up.
I know people have been ragging on Punk & Bret for being "hypocrites" by working with WWE (especially lately), but honestly, knowing when to put aside an old grudge & make peace instead of continuing to dig in your heels is a sign of genuine maturity. It shows someone willing to reflect on themselves and realize that, at minimum, they don't want that weight on themselves anymore & have some sense of accountability. As a world-class grudge holder, I kinda envy their ability to at least let some of their grudges go & move on (of course Bret still has hating on Goldberg, but I think he's allowed to still have one).
Sting lost a large chunk of his reputation the day signed with WWE he was known at the time as 'the greatest wrestler to never sign with Mr McMahon' regardless of how they used him, weather he would have had a winning streak or the losing streak they inevitably gave him - just the fact he was there, lost him that side of his legascy
Great video and one big one you didn't include, was Stone Cold's return to in ring action after 19 years at WM38. Ironically when it comes to this video's title. Stone Cold's first theme to feature the glass shatter intro is named "Hell Frozen Over". BTW I too was there at WWE's 2017 HOF! Fun time especially when we were all signing Kurt Angle's songs! 😄
Glacier not appearing in WWE was a hell frozen over moment. On the real, I think a few of the wrestlers that went on to Hollywood and came back were some moments. You expected them to promote something or cut a promo putting someone over but never step foot back in the ring.
Man I'll always remember that wwe 2k commercial when they showed Sting and you could hear the crowd roaring thinking sting was coming to the WWE at that time but then immediately booing once they realized it was just a promo for a video game 😂😂
It was so Incredibly weird even SEEING Jericho on Stone Colds podcast They did that teaser with the countdown and Jericho and Austin sitting at the table I thought surely he won't mention AEW This Is a WWE show and he did He mentioned all the AEW wrestlers by name on a WWE show
The WCW portion of this video makes me realize we're only about a year and a half away from the end of Reliving The War 😢 between Wrestling Bios and Geography NOW, you look forward to their uploads until you realize both series have a definite end 💔
Shawn Michael's return, Warrior's return, and Edge's return are probably a couple more if you ever wanted to do another one of these videos ( which I hope you do by the way.)
Jericho appearing on Stone Cold's podcast was especially shocking to me, considering Y2J narrated episodes of "Dark Side of the Ring" that made Vince McMahon look like a downright atrocious human being.
If I am being honest, the only time I can recall feeling Undertaker's WM Streak was in real jeopardy was the year he fought Punk. NOT because I am a huge CM Punk fan, but because he was coming off two straight PPV losses to Rock. I am one of those fans that stand by The Streak should've never ended. But if it was destined to be, Brock was not the guy. Undertaker said so himself.
The day of the last Nitro episode aired around 10AM My Dad called me to the living room. He was watching Bloomberg TV and they were announcing that McMahon bought WCW. So just because of that I knew about the simulcast as I they said it was going to happen. I was waiting and watched with baited breath.
In 3 days we saw Warrior getting Inducted into the HOF, first Raw appearance in nearly 18 years & sadly 24 hours later passing away. The Raw speech is still eerie nearly 10 years later
@@HabsMike25 I remember feeling at the time live something felt off. then a day later he was gone. Crazy to believe this was nearly a decade ago now btw, wow. Time flies.
@ajk Remember thinking something was really off about Warrior that weekend but I truly noticed it on Raw where his face was red & breathing was heavy. I thought he was going to have a heart attack there. The speech was very eerie. When I watched it as I recorded it I thought omg it feels like he knows his time is up & it would sadly come to fruition 24 hours later. It is still eerie almost a decade later. Time sure flies by
The new generation era crossover with ECW was extremely surreal to me. Maybe if you were a fan of both at the time and knew they were recording down the hall from each other it would have made more sense, but it just seems like something that shouldn't have happened given the huge gulf in match types.
If I was Sting I woulda been super cautious about joining WWE cause theres some wrestlers that came from WCW that Vince made Superstars like Steve Austin and Mick Foley Undertaker etc.. there's also wrestlers that were "stars" in WCW and Vince turned them to garbage when they joined WWF/WWE so yeah I don't blame Sting one bit for being Extra Cautious with Vince
Punk became a main eventer around the time that I was just old enough to start souring on Cena's kid friendly gimmick. I'm so happy to see him back in WWE.
All Elite Wrestling was officially announced on January 1, 2019. AEW is about to hit it's 5 year anniversary. Dynamite will celebrate 5 years in October.
All of the most significant HFO moments are covered here- the most glaring omission being Warrior. It was a bet to sooner see Randy Savage ( R.I.P. ) return to the wwe than to see Sting ever walk out to a wwe ring

Sasha banks & Naomi walking out was something.
It was so Incredibly weird even SEEING Jericho on Stone Colds podcast
They did that teaser with the countdown and Jericho and Austin sitting at the table
I thought surely he won't mention AEW
This Is a WWE show
and he did
He mentioned all the AEW wrestlers by name on a WWE show
10:18 watched with my dad and this was his most surprising moment
Hell already froze over when The Eagles reunited
The WCW portion of this video makes me realize we're only about a year and a half away from the end of Reliving The War 😢 between Wrestling Bios and Geography NOW, you look forward to their uploads until you realize both series have a definite end 💔
Always great seeing a bonus WB video pop up!
Jinder Mahal winning the WWE Championship was definitely one of those moments 😂
Shawn Michael's return, Warrior's return, and Edge's return are probably a couple more if you ever wanted to do another one of these videos ( which I hope you do by the way.)
I had a very similar reaction to Wrestling Bios when the streak ended. The streak should've ended but it should've been Bray who ended it.
Hell surely froze over with cm punk coming back n Cody too..very surprised..like they say" anything can happen in the wwe"..
Jericho appearing on Stone Cold's podcast was especially shocking to me, considering Y2J narrated episodes of "Dark Side of the Ring" that made Vince McMahon look like a downright atrocious human being.
This videos is well put together it's in my top 5 now 😊
10:03 This is the ultimate for me. I quite literally fell out of my chair onto my knees on the floor. Insane 😱🤯
Last time I was this early people were still excited for the InVasion!
stick around and watch the video, too. don't just leave a vague comment.
@@G.MONEY. Oh, I am as I type. :D I love Wrestling bios, best wrestling channel on RUclips.
@@RKStrikerJK5 good man. Brock Lesnar beating the undertaker streak is gonna be on here. It HAS to be...
@@G.MONEY. Turns out it was. Wrestling Bios for the win AGAIN! :D
15k views in 4 hours, not shocking or surprising.... You are the best on youtube.
Harley Race going to WWE would have been a huge "hell froze over" moment.
Paul hayman bringing ecw to monday night raw in early 97
Scotty Steiner coming back to WWE after all these years especially for a Hall of Fame induction with his brother Rick
I just find it impossible to care about anything that happened in WWE post 2006. Good on you for continuing to watc.
Warrior's 2014 return is a big moment missed here. Seemed about impossible for a long time for more than one reason.
In 3 days we saw Warrior getting Inducted into the HOF, first Raw appearance in nearly 18 years & sadly 24 hours later passing away. The Raw speech is still eerie nearly 10 years later
still upsets me
@@HabsMike25
@@HabsMike25 I remember feeling at the time live something felt off. then a day later he was gone. Crazy to believe this was nearly a decade ago now btw, wow. Time flies.
@ajk Remember thinking something was really off about Warrior that weekend but I truly noticed it on Raw where his face was red & breathing was heavy. I thought he was going to have a heart attack there. The speech was very eerie. When I watched it as I recorded it I thought omg it feels like he knows his time is up & it would sadly come to fruition 24 hours later. It is still eerie almost a decade later. Time sure flies by
Everything about CM punk's return was incredible, From the crowd, To the atmosphere. It was perfection.
Those people will sour on him once he reveals his true colors.
@@johannesmakila2459The people that welcomed him? That was in Chicago. Chicago is more likely to root for the Packers than turn against Punk.
0:55 ninja boy rig flair ?? 😂😂😂😂
Bret going back was the biggest hell frozen over moment. If a company was responsible for the death of one of my brothers, I wouldn't work for them
There I was in the patreon list!!!! Woo!
The new generation era crossover with ECW was extremely surreal to me. Maybe if you were a fan of both at the time and knew they were recording down the hall from each other it would have made more sense, but it just seems like something that shouldn't have happened given the huge gulf in match types.
The Texas tornado theme goes with everything. Kerry had an awesome theme.
Great video and imo the last entry was the most significant. Vince McMahon sells WWE; I never thought I'd see the day that would happen.
Styles appearing at the Rumble
CM Punk coming back after almost 10 years is crazy
On 2.44 I thought u first said "Vincent Kompany". I didn't realise he was a WWE fan 😂
Unpopular opinion but I really enjoyed Steve Austin’s heel run in 2001.
Best channel on RUclips!
Woooooooooooo
This was a lot of fun to watch. Cheers
Can’t help but noticed you left out Giant Gonzalez when talking about notable streak opponents
That's on the same level as the Warlord getting eliminated quicker from the '89 Rumble than Bushwacker Luke getting eliminated from the '91 Rumble
@@roccojamison89gooker51 sounds like you’re disappointed he was left off the list as well… I respect you booker man
Love the Pillman reference
Cody wasn't a shock of surprise. We saw it coming a mile away.
Owen dying on live tv and WWF making the call to keep going
Punk became a main eventer around the time that I was just old enough to start souring on Cena's kid friendly gimmick. I'm so happy to see him back in WWE.
WCW created it's own world title 6 months before Flair left And 9 months before he debuted in WWF. That's basic common knowledge. C'mon man.
They created the belt after he left. They were using the big gold belt until then and eventuality used it again when he returned
All Elite Wrestling was officially announced on January 1, 2019. AEW is about to hit it's 5 year anniversary. Dynamite will celebrate 5 years in October.
Good work mate
All of the most significant HFO moments are covered here- the most glaring omission being Warrior. It was a bet to sooner see Randy Savage ( R.I.P. ) return to the wwe than to see Sting ever walk out to a wwe ring
