10:20 Kidman's SSP always makes me laugh! You get conditioned to sharp, athletic executions and this one is like 'meh i flipped whatever' 😂 Great review bruddah 💚
There was a good reason they waited so long. Eric Bischoff and DDP were and still are close friends in real life, so Eric was worried that if DDP was given the world title earlier that people would have thought he only got it because he was friends with the boss. However, by this time in 1999, everyone could see that DDP had earned it himself and truly deserved the belt. Perhaps they were overly cautious but it turned out well.
@@namikstudios That's probably somewhat true, but more so there wasn't room in the championship schedule. They had actually considered having DDP win at Halloween Havoc, but Goldberg had some TV appearances scheduled which they felt wouldn't make sense without him being champion.

You said something very important to me at the beginning of the video and that’s form your own opinion on this show. And that’s something I feel I want to do on these last few years of WCW. I’m unfamiliar with the going ons of WCW in these final years because we mostly started watching WWF only at my house by this time. I know the general consensus on this time period of WCW is it slowly goes downhill but I feel like I want to experience that for myself for better or worse and form my own opinion on this era of WCW. That way I have my own personal opinion.
Really sort of a shame they turned DDP heel before the win. Him getting the win as people's champ would have blown the roof off the place. Booker T should have been the top of every card! Dude is amazing! The match with Sting, DDP, Hogan, and Flair was awesome to watch on PPV back in the day! One of the few bright spots back in WCW around that time!

The last match actually made all the sense in the world tbh savage had beef with page early in their time at wcw but since he's fell out with all his old "friends" flair Hogan Sting ect😂that elbow drop, kicking sting hand off the rope was all absolutely great
Why would there be any hate? He deserved it. It should have been sooner, and without that Macho Man BS; but at the end of the day it's still better than most wrestlers get.
@@CurlyFromTheSwirly because they pulled the trigger way too late and everyone knew it, I loved watching DDP grow as a performer from his Diamond Doll and Max Muscle days and this was such a loss because we didnt get the proper top babyface championship run he should have gotten. I love that he's a world champ but hate it came too damn late.
@TC-iw5lg , Agreed, but it was more of too late for WCW than for DDP. WCW probably would have been smarter to have DDP win in the summer of 98 and Goldberg start his championship later. As people have stated, Goldberg vs Hogan at Starcade would have been a big money making event; but let's get back to DDP. In 1998, DDP was the star of WCW, but the company didn't realize it. Even having DDP win at Halloween Havoc would have been better than what they did. WCW actually considered having DDP win, but because Goldberg had some TV appearances coming up they felt he needed to keep the belt or it wouldn't look as good. I have no problem with DDP waiting till 99 for the belt as far as for his time. As I said, that was about WCW becoming a mess. 1999 should have never had that finger poke BS and nWo reunification garbage. The main problem with that was WCW was then focusing on old stars, mainly Hogan and secondly Flair. When what they needed to do was build new stars. (Which WWF was doing.) But even with that mess up, they should have had Hogan loss to Flair sooner, then Flair to DDP without Macho interfering. He should have kept it longer than a month, and therr was no need for Sting to win the belt for 90 minutes. After that, someone again new like Raven could take the belt from DDP by cheating. Having the flock or some of them come help would be great. Then Saturn beats Raven, and DDP helps to settle the score. Sting would beat Saturn and eventually we cycle back to Goldberg getting the bell back from Sting. But WCW had no plan or vision other than Hogan.
Considering Randy Savage gave DDP his first big push, its fitting he got to give him the gold
This has to be the least chaotic PPV from this era of WCW (1999 - 2000).
"Bam Bam hits Sandman with a trash can" I rewound it five times to chuckle at this.

It makes me so happy to hear the people cheering Raven
I remember watching this live and both loving and hating that DDP got the title, even then you knew it was too late.
Why would there be any hate?
He deserved it.
It should have been sooner,
and without that Macho Man BS;
but at the end of the day
it's still better than most wrestlers get.
@TC-iw5lg ,
Agreed, but it was more of too late for WCW than for DDP.
(Which WWF was doing.)
But even with that mess up, they should have had Hogan loss to Flair sooner, then Flair to DDP without Macho interfering.
Awesome spring stampede 1999 review this channel is amazing great stuff as always these videos are so much fun to watch.
