10cc had some other hits in America. "The Things We Do For Love" is probably their 2nd biggest US hit followed by "The Wall Street Shuffle" "Dreadlock Holiday" and "Life Is A Minestrone" They weren't really a "rock band" as their music spanned several genres.

Fun Fact: This song incorporated the backing of a large wordless choir, which in reality was the group's voices. It was painstakingly built up from chord loops and multi tracks: some 256 vocal dubs were required to complete the lush harmonies behind Eric Stewart's vocal.
    - This Song Was In The Opening Scene For The Movie “Guardians Of The Galaxy” And This Song Was In The Video Game “ Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories”

Stewart came up with the idea for the song after his wife, to whom he had been married for eight years at that point, asked him why he did not say "I love you" more often to her. Stewart said, "I had this crazy idea in my mind that repeating those words would somehow degrade the meaning, so I told her, 'Well, if I say every day "I love you, darling, I love you, blah, blah, blah", it's not gonna mean anything eventually'. That statement led me to try to figure out another way of saying it, and the result was that I chose to say 'I'm not in love with you', while subtly giving all the reasons throughout the song why I could never let go of this relationship.

For at least ten years that song was voted the UK's favourite song, it seemed the ultimate classic and then it just seemed to disappear from the radio. They were also Neil Sedaka's band when he had a comeback in the 70's. If you've not heard of Neil Sedaka listen to "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" the slow version, it's a beautiful Jazz/Blues love song.

On the last 2 songs. Waiting for a Girl Like You waa produced by Mick Jones and Mutt Lange. Drive 🚗 was produced by The Cars and Mutt Lange. You will hear 👂 ambient backgrounds in ballads written and/or co-produced or produced by Lange. Cincinnatus was a powerful ancient Roman general who became a wise and just political leader. 10cc was big in the 1970s. This was from their early era - the band later split with two members (Stewart and Gouldman) continuing with a slightly funkier sound and the other two (Godley and Creme) going on to make more experimental music and become leading rock video makers. The singer is Eric Stewart, and he is in deep denial! This was made before the era of samplers and was revolutionary when it came out. There are videos out there on the painstaking lengths they went to to make this. Try their song "The Things We Do For Love".

10CC were one of the few British bands worth listening to in the pre-punk period of the mid 1970s. I saw them twice and their live performances were every bit as good as their records. Fundamentally, they were four equally-gifted artists who had found each other and created some memorable music together. I was sorry when the original band split.
