Every once in a while life gives you a little jewel here a little diamond there, maybe a little lightening in a bottle. You know that rogue onion ring in an order of fries. That’s the way I feel about Steve and this channel. Never disappoints. Love you man!
Hey Steve, I started watching your videos about a year ago and I greatly appreciate your passion for your trade and admire it. You inspired me to search for local cobblers and take my collection of very expensive shoes to get repaired. Today I dropped off my first pair and as I left I hoped the gentleman shares the passion you have and take the time and love in the work just as you do. So all that being said made me want to post a comment to let you know your videos are great and keep up the good work. I look forward to possibly using you in the future for my shoes.
Learning about dyes and leather has been fascinating! I wondered how the dye didn’t come off while conditioning. I assumed wax polish was what helped dye the shoes. I dye fabric, and I’m glad you explained the process for applying dye to leather. I didn’t know conditioning wasn’t the same thing as polishing. Thanks for the education! 👍🏼
I love your attitude about your work and it is strongly reflected in your work. Do what you do and do the best you are capable of doing. I like to see that attitude. Thank you
It would be great if you could do a video explaining the different dyes and creams one can use. I recently understood the coloring strength difference between Saphir wax, cream and tube dye and teinture francaise which is the strongest. Happy New Year!
Back in the 60s, we took all our penny loafers (we went to Catholic school) to an Italian cobbler near our home. Last November, I was back home and decided to see if it was still in business. Mr Amelio had long since passed away but his son (who I went to high school with) is now running the shop. He put new heel lifts on a pair of Dexter loafers. Cost only $25 and they look like new. I wish we could go back to the time when people repaired things rather than toss them out.
Mahogany was an excellent choice, perfect restoration, Steve. Oh, I think putting shoe trees is also a good way to maintain your shoes. Happy new year to you and your family!
I love how you give in depth instructions as if someone was really gonna try this at home! 😊 I dont think many people will try it but it's great to get all the tips as to how! Thank You, Steve!!
I am spoiled now. When I see what a master does, I don’t want to take my shoes to a local repair shop. It would be great if you could start a school for shoe restorers!
Bedo referred me to a shoe repairer here in Ontario. The shoes had crappy soles of rubber that fell apart after one wear. Uppers were in great shape, nearly new, and he did a fantastic job. This guy said Bedo was pretty much a guru for those who took pride in their work.
I’m amazed at the condition of some of these items when you receive them Steve- especially the designer bags as I’m so careful to protect mine with colonil carbon and to clean and condition them regularly. I even spray my dark jeans to stop them transferring dye on my bags 😬
patrick bangura I don’t think they’re all careless. When I see shoes in such bad shape I envision a person who doesn’t have the time or the money to care for their shoes because they are too busy working. And breaking nights studying to get get themselves through law school.
Well not all. Sometimes it's called "wear and tear". Sometimes uncontrolled events happen like probably something what they call "accidents". Also, sometimes nature does not agree with man and it sometimes gives us what we call "rain" which contains what we call "water". When its gets in our shoes, it wreaks havoc. It happens you know...
Great video. I don't think there is anything wrong with breaking videos down into sections. It allows you to get more videos posted. Also, you mentioned making sure to to do things to both shoes at the same time. I would be willinh to bet that differences in humidity and barometric pressure come into play when dying and conditioning leathers at different times. I'm no scientist, but it just makes sense that the same leather would react differently to products in different atmospheric conditions. Just something to think about....
I always appreciate for all your shoe restoration videos. So satisfying. Quick question; how can I know the upper is "done" done? Like even if resole, replace the welt, shank and etc, because the upper is totally dead the shoes is unable to recover. Have you ever seen any uppers like that? I know when there are huge holes on them, yeah the shoes are over, but is there other signs that the goodyear welt shoes cannot be recovered at all because of upper's damage?
HI, STEVE!!! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Steve, why didn't you Polish these nice and shiny?! The mahogany looks so much better, but a high shine would've been great. Love your work, Boss!!!
Guy was a real light walker. Most of the time at the end the wrinkles are all that's left that give the age away but these ones looked new after a dye.
You always remind me of a sub reddit, "r/BuyItForLife" really good quality shoes can come back to life on the hands of professionals like you!! 👍also happy 2020!!!
So, I have a sling that is too light of the color brown for me. Can I strip the wax or topcoat if it even has one and then redye darker with leather dye? Will it work? I do leatherwork but have never redyed anything yet. You do good work. I love my leather shoes. Every man should own a few pairs.
The aerosol can of dye you burnished the toe with, can that be purchased at a store or just ordered? I don't expect a brand. That was so simple with an awesome result. I know you have probably done more of those then you can count. Experience is what I guess I am referring to. Thanks Steve
You sand your bottom?! Well, to each his own, I guess. Just wondering if you follow up with a conditioner and polish. Egads, I don’t even want to ponder the buffing wheel. Shine on, Steve. Shine on.
Hi there. Im thinking of redyeing some shoes and purses so Im doing a lot of research before embarking on this project. A few videos I watched mentioned sealing the leather to prevent color transfer. I noticed that you didn’t do that on these shoes. Are the conditioner and cream sufficient to seal the dye?
Thank you for the rich and beautiful information you provide. I would like to ask you some questions, since you are a specialist in this field. The first question, based on your specialization, is what is the best company in manufacturing Oxford shoes in terms of the quality of the leather used in the manufacture and the ability to renew the sole and maintain it to last and the quality and craftsmanship of the manufacture. It is okay if there is more than one company that can be ranked from the best. The second question is what are the best products that I can use as an individual to maintain the shoe at home in terms of coloring and waxing. If there are other products, please mention them with the name of the manufacturing company, since I am outside your geographical area. The third question is the original color of this shoe that I worked on in this video. If I wanted to preserve it and dye it the same original color, what is the name of the polishing product for the same color that is sold commercially to individuals? Thank you.
@@BedosLeatherworksLLC sorry you may have miss understood me or i didnt mean it as a disrepect to your business i wanted to be understood as A business of leather work, as i am only learning and inquiring if it would be better and faster to us the alcohol. Thanks again big bro

Would it make any sense to air brush the dye?? You would have very good control of coating thickness and placement....just a thought from a mechanic...
Is there anything that can be done to restore cracked leather? I have a pair of Dan Post boots that I have used roughly but, other than the cracks, they are in pretty decent shape.
Hi. can you please do a video on how to stain/dye and seal shoes/ sandals with a leather footbed or insole? i.e. gucci web gg sandals with gg leather footbed… i attempted to stain and seal a pair but when i wore them they became tacky and the stain was on the bottom of my feet. Thanks
I think they look better than new. The character and beauty is something ‘new’ does not have.
I love them.
I like the mahogany color. Those turned out great. Another great project, Steve!!

The best thing about your vids: Steve is the cheer you put into them. Thanks for being a patient, talented craftsman.
They're 100% better than they were ! And a great lesson on what will happen if you don't condition, polish and use shoe trees !👍👌❤
It looks new too us 👍🏻,Steve before and after is nice too so many thing too learn ,thx for the time en video ❤️👍🏻see you next time
They came out so nice!!! More than presentable!! I can't tell you how many times I wander around, and say let's continue to myself since watching you!
Turned out great!! Thank you for showing your process of dyeing the uppers.
Steve, another amazing job! As always, thank you for sharing, I enjoy watching a master craftsman at work.
Another great project of Steve 👍👍👍👍
Happy New Year, everyone! Forget the circus. This IS the greatest show on Earth. 🎉🥰👞

Why use oil based bye over alcohol based dye? Loved the video!
So plese explain why you use oil base instead of alcohol base die and whats the difference between them, thanks bedo great job.

Hello, I love your work, do you recommend using the fiebing oil dye or regular leather dye for chanel lambskin? Wha do you use to seal the color?
Bedo: you can never get the shoes to look new, it's impossible to look new.
*Makes the shoes look better than new*
Seriously, you do an amazing job.
Good save on these.
