Loved the hell out of this project. I snapped up a great Betsey Johnson leather purse for $1 because it has sun fading. I was gonna throw gold paint of some sort all over it, but after watching your videos maybe I will try to add some dark purple dye so it has a depth of color from black to plum. Keep up the great work!
Never watched something like this before, randomly ended up here but honestly love how much effort you put into making it so unique and different. Love the outcome and process even though it was unexpected 🥰
If you appreciated the irony of your project, you'll appreciate the irony in Beau Brummel, the (in)famous male fashion icon of the Regency period, spending 3 or so hours daily preparing his cravat in an effort to make it look like he tied the thing without caring for how it would come out. There were accounts of his servant coming down from Beau's chamber with armfuls of "failures", that is, armfuls of heavily starched cravats that Beau couldn't arrange in a manner that looked natural and romantic to him. Your bag looked great for what you decided to do with it, but that style isn't my cup of tea. Great channel by the way. I'm glad you've grown so quickly. All the best!
Yes, u did that. U r so creative. The Varnished Antique look is just Incredible. I would definitely rock both the Shoes and.thee Bag together. The Hues of Rustic is the Truth. Keep them coming, great find. This is an Art, and u r definitely that. Thanks for sharing!
"Making fun of you" "Not liking it" What? Its a good example how to create great art! In many projects you need to adapt on the fly, and that's exactly what you did. In the end it turned out even better (at least in my imagination) then a "boring" uniform look. I really appreciate that you show and explain how this project happened. All in all a nice example how not to give up and pull though to a satisfying result.
You had me until you started dyeing the leather. Im not a fan of the streaking, it just looks like it got wet and the colors ran. The video was great and well produced though.
Yea but that wasn't supposed to happen. That's the whole point of this video! The dying should've turned out smooth and blended, like it does with his shoes, but for some reason the leather was weird or something.
This bag is really beautiful ,After your wonderful processing and finishing , it is even more beautiful and generous, which makes me fall in love with it even more!
Your "botched" dye job reminds me of a painting I was working on last week that was giving me hell. I probably re-did the clouds ten times over, and the mountains at least six times, but all the layering paid off in the end and now it's one of my favorite pieces. It's all part of the artistic process 😁
Yep, it’s the same deal with high fashion distressed jeans. Take a perfectly decent pair of denim pants and them thru acid washes, a stone grinding process, wire brushes and all sorts of methods to distress the crap out of it. Then charge $250-$350 and call it cool! :) Besides, you made lemonade out of the lemons and have the huevos to own it. Power to you brother!
I know someone, that brought his brand new very expensive distressed jeans with lots of fashionable holes and rips in it to a befriended grandma, who always made an excellent job at shortening his trousers or repairing some clothes, so that nobody would even notice there was something wrong with it. But this time he didn't count her accuracy in. Instead of just shortening his jeans she also made a huge effort to get all those ripped and destroyed parts repaired. She literally "destroyed" that expensive look he paid so much money for, thinking she was helping out. She ended up rolling back, getting it close to it's original store bought look and putting new ideas in on how to look destroyed. He was very satisfied with its new outcome. A real original!
You have to really go frequently. I'll go sometimes and not find anything. Then one day I found a Coach purse for $3. I had to dig thru a shopping cart full of junky purses though
I dont see any reason to kick yourself...you spent 8.75. It's a functional bag and that's all that matters. With that being said, you should have spot tested it first before diving right in. I would have just polished it up and not worry about the oil spots which actually gives character
That bag looks super chic! I think you made it go from 'Ned Flanders' to 'Rock Star'. Love this transformation. Hope to see more, don't doubt your outside of the box artistic edge 😎
wow! I know your patina/acetone game has really improved since this video but even back then, you made some bold choices that I think made this bag look truly cool. if I'm right, you added in some oxblood or burgundy dye to the edges & that depth of color makes the leather a much more interesting color with more depth. great work rescuing and adding a lot of artisanal value to what had been an under-$10 bag!
